Quarantine Day 10!

Wohoo! Almost there!

Yesterday was my fathers birthday, so I broke quarantine to visit his grave. I was picked up by my siblings, in a car. Together we drove to the cemetery, and paid our respects to my father. He would have been 68 this year. This coming October, marks the 2 year anniversary of his death.

Now, being in the middle of a pandemic, I made extra sure to keep more distance between me and everyone else. I didn't bring my mask, because I was not among old or unhealthy people. Besides, we were the only people there, so the only ones I could infect, were my siblings and the dead.

Anyway.. In more lighthearted news: Dizzy Mizz Lizzy dropped a new album yesterday, and my GOD it is good! It's darker and more violent than their other stuff, which I love. Dizzy is evolving from being a hard rock band to a soft metal band, and it suits them perfectly!

I also heard from R for the first time since December 2019. She is now living with her boyfriend, going to school and is busy living her life. I am happy for her, truly. Her biggest wish was to find someone to love and live with, and now she has just that :). Life works out well for her, which she totally deserves.

I am not gonna sugarcoat this: It took me a LONG time to get over her, but I think I am just about there. Not hearing from her for 3 months is the best way to get over her, because I am not constantly talking to her. That helps with the process of getting over her.

Now, back to my quarantine, and what I have been doing! I have played a load of games, but I have also looked into maybe doing some online learning. There is a site called edx.com. They have 2500+ courses from acclaimed institutions such as Harvard, Stanford and MIT. Most of them are free, and can be completed at your own pace. If I am too bored, I might sign up for a course.

The video games I have been playing are Red Dead 2, Farming Simulator 2019 and The Sims 4. I began a brand new game in The Sims 4, because, as you all know by now, my last Sim died in a fire.. Yeah, let's not talk about that one..

So, this new Sim is in the entertainment industry. He has worked himself up from the basic to a serious musician. SO now he has to play a bunch of guitar and learn about pianos. It'll be fine! I am just waiting for my payday, so I can buy another expansion pack. I think I am gonna go for the "Get Famous" pack, and REALLY make my Sim be super rich and famous!

Anyway, for now, that's all from me. I am not leaving without a song, though.. Are you listening? Good! *ahem*

Four days left of my quarantine.

Quarantine Day 9!

As my cabin fever continues to evolve, I am left with a few options: Play video games, watch YouTube videos or watch Netflix. My food supplies are still good. I haven't run out of anything yet, which is pretty spectacular. I wasn't sure if I would be able to last with the food that I bought, but I really had no problem at all. I might even have gone a biiit overboard with my cola-purchase scold. Yes, I know.. But - at least I will have until the end of summer, which is fantastic!

I decided to go for the video game approach, and boot up my PS4. Of the bazillion games I have, I decided to head to the good ol' West in Red Dead Redemption 2. I completed a few missions, until I noticed I had a bounty of 260 dollars in one county. So, I wanted to pay it off, so I could continue my journey without being pursued by lawmen and bounty hunters. I went to a station to pay off my bounty - only to realize that I only had 110 dollars. I needed to make 150 dollars before I could pay off the bounty, so I decided to look for camps to rob, houses to rob and stage coaches to steal and sell. I noticed a column of smoke in the distance, which can only mean two things: Camp or house. In this case, it was a camp. So, I approached it, only to be met with force. So, I pulled out my trusty rifle, and killed most of the people there. At one point, I accidentally hit a small container, which was full of kerosene. It spilled out onto the ground, slowly creeping towards the camp fire. It eventually got a hold of the fire, and then.. Well, you can guess.. The entire camp caught fire. After a few minutes of roaring flames, and screams from the survivors burning to death, the fire burned out.

Now, normal people would leave and report it to the law, but not me. No, Sir! I went to the camp, robbed them blind and left. I found a different camp, where I repeated the process. When I ended my session, I was sitting on a FORTUNE of... 230 dollars..

I plan to lay some more later tonight, so that I can REALLY pay off my debt to society, and to be a free man in the ol' West once again!

My quarantine ends in 5 days. After that, it's back to work, and most importantly: No more of these daily quarantine blogs!

Quarantine Day 8!

Another day, another quarantine blog!

So what has happened since the last time I checked in? The government has closed down gyms, malls, hair dressers, masseuses and tattoo artists. Any public or home gathering of more than 10 people is advised against. The only shops, that are allowed to be open, are grocery stores. When you are in a grocery shop, you have to stay at least 3 feet from another customer. No limit on food quantities yet, but it will happen soon, I think. Although, we are seeing less and less panic buying here, which is a good thing. Now we can actually get a daily life (quarantine edition).

To end this edition of "Quarantine Day", I would like to tell you a story. It's not gonna be long, but it's gonna be one where you go "....huh? What?!"

So, let me take you back to the day before yesterday. The Queen spoke to us, and we all listened. But before that, the PM had a press conference, where she underlined the things in the beginning of my blog. So, a hair salon decided to pull an all-nighter. They were open from 5 pm to 10 am. People could come and get a haircut all night long. That's not the part that makes you go "Wait, what!?"- This next part is!

So, you can imagine that with this in the public eye, there's gonna be some reactions. And there were. Most were praising the owners of the shop. Others, well not so much.. People actually began leaving death threats, calling them the scum of humanity and not thinking of others. "What about the risk of infection spreading? I hope you die in hell, cow!", was one of the threats.

It's not like they were gathering 500 people in the same room. No, people were let into the salon one by one. After each haircut, they made sure to sanitize the entire salon. They wore gloves and protective masks, which was replaced after every customer.

For the life of me, I can't understand, WHY people would send death threats to other people, who have bills to pay. I can understand it, if they were extremely careless, but they were taking extreme precautions. I applaud the hair salon for doing this. People need to eat and pay bills.

People need to chill, man.

Quarantine Day 6!

ALRIGHT. WHAT'S UP, CS? MY NAME IS PHILIPSEN, FROM DENMARK! OPEN UP THIS PIT! I WANT TO SEE SOME BLOOD AND GUTS ON THE FLOOR! THIS ONE IS CALLED: WHAT I DO DURING QUARANTINE! LET'S GOOOO!

And that concludes my stint as a hardcore singer laugh..
(sidenote: please don't actually put another person's blood and guts on the floor kthanx)

I am slowly but surely losing my mind here. It's extremely frustrating to be indoor all day long. 8 more days until I am allowed outside!

In the meantime, I am slowly running out of things to do. Playing video games becomes VERY boring at some point. So does watching movies. I could sleep, but I am not super tired.

OH - in other fantastic news: My new chair arrived yesterday, and it's amazing! Suuuuper comfortable, and very easy to put together. It only took me about 30 minutes. If I can do it, you can too!
Embedded image from another site

It's one of those chairs, where the backrest can fold down flat! Great if you, as a hardcore gamer, live for online gaming. You can take a nap or relax until a new game of Call of Duty: Warzone starts. Regarding that game: I began playing it a few days ago, and it's so much fun! It's a battle royale game, with 150 players on it. Those 150 players are divided into teams of three, making it a 50 team game. The objective is clear: Kill everyone to finish at the top.

Now, this being a battle royale game, I had my fears. There are SO many of them out there, so what makes this different? Well, the team thing for one. Also, when you die on the battlefield, you aren't out. You are being thrown into the Gulag, and you are pitted against another player. If you kill him, then you are back in the game. If you don't, your team can buy you in, using a buy station. If you are brought back in, but you are killed again, you are out.

But apart from that Warzone game, I am also slowly starting Spreadsheet Simulator (Eve Online). I talked about it briefly a few blogs ago. That game is VAST! Like.. Flippin' huge! It's a never-ending universe, wit a LOT of asteroids to mine for resources. It's a monthly payment of 15 euro, so it's not too bad. Sometimes, I do get lost in the game. Mainly because it's so big, but also because I tend to go "Oooh, look at that. Pretty colors! Oh look at that, a wreck of a Titan. Oooooh crap.. I am being ganked... No.." ....and then I lose my ship, because Eve Online..

For dinner last night, I made a pork chop with sliced potatoes. It was SO good! I am evolving into being a pretty good cook.. Alright.. Well.. Decent cook, is the right word to use here. My cooking abilities extend to pasta, the aforementioned pork chop. frozen pizzas, nachos and fries. You know, nutritious and healthy food for everyone! innocent

Sometimes I wonder why I am single..

The Queen isn't mad - the Queen is disappointed (Quarantine Day 7)

Most of you might not know this, Denmark is a monarchy. One of the oldest in the World, which makes me very happy.

The head of this monarchy is Margrethe Alexandrine Þórhildur Ingrid, or simply Queen Margrethe the 2nd. She also goes by the name Daisy. She is the supreme authority of the Church of Denmark and commander-in-chief of the Danish Defense.

And she is amazing! She was supposed to celebrate her 80th birthday this year, but due to the Corona virus, she decided to cancel. An utmost admirable thing to do, by Her Majesty.

She very rarely talk to us, only during New Years Eve, so when it was announced, that she would be talking to the nation at 8 pm (prime time here), everyone were going "Errrr... What's going on, here?"

So what did she say? Just what basically everyone have told us: "Stay at home if you feel sick, or even if you don't feel sick".. It's not rocket science, either. If we want to stop the spread of this virus, we need to abide by the law. Incidentally, I watched a video from Benidorm yesterday. Benidorm, if you didn't know, is in Spain. In the European Union. The video showed a bunch of English tourists, going about their business, being PROPER Englishmen. That involves heavy drinking, singing in the streets, and generally being a bunch of blithering, stupid, monstrous a**-hats. The video is here, for your "enjoyment"

Can we not, for ONE second, just act NORMAL? There is a virus out there, killing people, but the first guy in the video goes "It's just a flu that people need to get over..".. NO!!! It's NOT just a "flu that people need to get over". But, that is too many words for that blithering idiot to get..

Alright, calm down Philipsen..

In other, less frustrating news.. My cabin fever is starting to go away. I now have a lot of things to do, which in turn keeps me active and busy. That way, the days fly by faster. Yesterday, for instance, I played a BUNCH of Farming Simulator 19. I am in the middle of seeding two fields with soybeans. After a few in-game hours, it's ready to harvest (I know that the real crop takes months to grow, but this is a video game, so they are allowed to tweak the time).

I will return to the game today, to finish planting. Then I will harvest it, and redo the entire process.

It'll be fun!applause

Behemoth/Slipknot, Royal Arena - a review!

Thursday evening was probably the best evening of my life! I went to the Royal Arena in Copenhagen to catch Slipknot on their We Are Not Your Kind World Tour.

I have seen Slipknot countless times before, so I knew what I was getting myself into. I had, however, never seen Behemoth live before, so I was really excited to see them. Behemoth is a Polish blackened death metal band, whose gimmick is being a dark, satanic band, who just want to destroy everything they touch. If you are a Christian person, a Behemoth (Hebrew ?????, behemoth (modern: behemot)) is a mythological beast mentioned in Job 40:15-24. Metaphorically, the name has come to be used for any extremely large or powerful entity. In medieval demonology Behemoth ("several animals") is the nocturnal demon of indulgence and holds the ranks of caretaker of wine cellars, grand cupbearer of the royal household, and right watchman. He oversees the feasts of Jinnestan and is responsible for serving the Devil his food and wine. He also entertains with song and music.

For them to open up for Slipknot, was therefore the perfect fit!

Their opening consisted of a picture of Denmark, with an inverted cross across it, signalling that the Devil had arrived. The band took to the stage wearing full makeup and matching outfits, while fire and steam shot up around them. The band are a super talented bunch, and I really loved my 45 minutes in what can only be described as hell. Countless fireballs rose up towards the ceiling, and Nergals roaring vocals made the opening act something to remember.

After a "short" break of 45 minutes, Slipknot finally took to the stage, to the sound of Insert Coin, the opening track of We Are Not Your Kind. It jumped straight into Unsainted, which made the entire arena explode with euphoria. Slipknot was here, ready to make a statement. They wanted Copenhagen to know, that they mean business, and that they truly are one of the best live acts anywhere, of all time. I can agree with that, because judging by the way that Corey has the entire audience in the palm of his hands, Slipknot will indeed be remembered as the best live band ever.

The setlist was a mix of old and new, all of which was received extremely well. There were a few songs that I wasn't sure would go down well live, but they did.

My only gripe with this evening, was that it was on a Thursday evening, and I had work on the Friday. Next time Slipknot is in town, I hope it's on a Friday or a Saturday.

I will give Behemoth a 8 out of 10. Fantastic opening act, and a band I want to see again soon. Slipknot, well they get a perfect 10!

Quarantine Day 5! + Mountain Dew

I know, I know.. It's yet another one of those pesky quarantine blogs! But I wouldn't be writing these, if SOMEONE in China hadn't gone and gotten himself sick with a virus, that people actually believe was made in a lab, by a bunch of nefarious researchers. All the science points to bats being the major cause for this outbreak.

Anyway!

I had my first ever sip of Mountain Dew Citrus Blast yesterday. The bottle is a luminous green, almost like an acid green color. I wrote a friend and explained, that it was my first ever time drinking that particular soda, and I wanted to hear what I could expect. She said "an abundance of sugar!". I was thinking "It's not gonna be too bad, is it? I mean, I drink a LOT of coke and energy drinks, so a bit of extra sugar isn't gonna be THAT hard on me.. Is it!?"

So, I pulled our my phone, pressed "record video", found a glass, poured in a tiny amount and drank it. Meanwhile, I was relaying real-time info about how it tasted. The taste was.. Weak.. Kind of like watered down lemon drink. So I was thinking to myself, that this was a huge letdown, and that I didn't feel any sugar rush at all.

5 minutes later... Well, that's a different story. Have you ever felt like you are SUPER hyper active? That it feels like someone injected PURE energy into your veins? Well, that's what it felt like. I'll tell you something, really quick: I had the biggest rush EVER! Wow.. I mean, talk about a shocker! My head was spinning, legs were twitching.. And this was just from a VERY tiny amount. At that point, I felt like I could jump out of my window and land on the ground below, and not get injured. I live on the third floor, just for reference.

I have never ever in my life felt anything like that. How much sugar does Mountain Dew contain? Are there drugs in th... Hang on a minute.. It's the caffeine...! I just did a Google Search, and I found out that a standard 12 oz can of coke has 34mg of caffeine. A can of Mountain Dew has.. 55.. FIFTY FIVE mg of caffeine.. No WONDER I felt like I could run a marathon on one leg, blindfolded while singing "Sweet Caroline (dun, dun duunnnn).."

In other news: My chair is on the way! I just loaded in the track-and-trace number, and it says, that I am getting my package later today! Now I just need to look for a white GLS van. However, I did say that he should leave the package outside my front door, because of this whole corona quarantine thingy.. Once I get the package, I am dragging it upstairs, putting on some music, grabbing my tool kit and then I will assemble my new pride and joy! Oh it's gonna be SO amazing!

Something good has happened as well.. My friend is getting married. Her boyfriend FINALLY popped the question, so it looks like I am going to invest in a suit.. Or just be extremely well dressed, because as ZZ Top once sang: "They come runnin' just as fast as they can 'Cause every girl crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man"

Yes, I am gonna include a lyric that matches the blog from now on. At least until my quarantine is over - which it is in 9 days. Well, I have my last quarantine day in 9 days.. God I look forward to that so much!

Quarantine Day 4!

Welcome to the only place on CS that has you going "Urgh, not AGAIN!" - yes, it's time for Quarantine Day 4. No zombies yet, which makes this blog less.. Messy.. Anyway..

What am I doing with my time, now that I am forced to remain indoors? Well, I am playing a lot of video games, naturally. At around 5.45 pm yesterday, I booted up my PS4, turned my sound bar up to 22 and launched Doom. The 2016 version, not the original one. I spent about 6 hours turning every Demon in my path into goo with my plasma rifle, super shotgun, heavy machine gun and gauss canon. Countless deaths, lots of shots fired and a LOT of metal blasting through the soundbar. It was pure CHAOS, and I LOVED IT!!
Embedded image from another site

Anyway, where was I.. Ah yes.. Video games!

After Doom suffered a crash, I turned off my PS4 and sat in my chair. "What now?!", I though to myself. Then I turned my attention to Steam. I knew of a game, that is good, albeit a bit.. Close to what we are facing now.. It is a game, where you are in charge of releasing a disease onto the general public, in this case THE ENTIRE WORLD, and you have to kill everyone with said disease. The name of the game (heh) is Plague Inc. Evolved. Now, it would be in VERY poor taste if I bought it, and spread a disease upon the World, right? Wrong! I bought the sucker. I installed it. I booted it up and then I killed EVERYONE! Like E-VE-RY-ONE! I am now starting a game, where I have to get a worm to infect, and kill, everyone. Or turn them into mindless slaves for the Worm overlords, who WILL arise one day! Mark my words! There is an achievement called Worm Food, which I aim to get today. It's not gonna be too difficult. I think.. Only time will tell.

Don't worry, I also play less lethal games, like Farming Simulator 2019, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and The Sims 4. It's not all death and destruction with me.

In more serious news, the death toll here in Denmark, is rising. We are now at 2 dead, with 836 infected. The dead were elderly with already serious medical conditions. I believe they were both over the age of 80. Also, New Zealand's South Island reports their first infected. A woman in her 30's went to a restaurant and visited a Queenstown adventure attraction, before she sought out medical attention. This woman was from Denmark. My country. Why on EARTH was she travelling HALF WAY AROUND THE WORLD during this epidemic time? I think everyone, who travels abroad during these times, should be thrown in jail for 2 months. Unless it's very important, of course. Like, if you want to head home to your native country or you have an appointment that is SUPER vital, like a doctors visit or something. When I become World leader, I will ban all holiday travel during a pandemic, because it's VERY stupid to travel on a holiday during a virus outbreak.

I will update you on the quarantine again tomorrow.

COVID-19 Infections Up By 1700% In Denmark!

Why is it up 1700%?

I found this pretty interesting - and infuriating - article in a Danish news paper, that might explain that.

You see, on the 9th of March, we had around 90 infected here, which was a relatively low number. Today, just 4 days later, we are at over 785 infected. Government employers are putting people in quarantine. The Parliament has been sent home. People are raiding the shops for food, because of the mandatory quarantine. Why? Because two doctors advised people to "keep a safe distance" when travelling to Northern Italy, where the COVID-19 virus was worst. The first Dane had already been confirmed exposed to the virus in the same area in Northern Italy.

The doctors, by the way, are chief physicians, and professors of communicable diseases. Just for reference when you read the shear stupidity of these supposed professors of communicable diseases.

Let's start with Doctor #1:

When asked if he would recommend people travelling to Northern Italy, he said the following:

"Definitely. I would definitely go on a skiing holiday to Northern Italy. I might keep a few arms lengths between me and people who are sick. And then wash my hands a bit more, but I would definitely go". His main worry, would be that people would get bored at the hotel.

A few days before that, they also asked another so-called chief physician and expert in communicable diseases, if she would advise against trips to Northern Italy. At this point, 322 people were infected, with 11 dead and one cured. This chief physician, and EXPERT in communicable diseases, were asked about "safety, spread and precautions", from worried citizens. She said, with absolute certainty, that you "should not worry about travelling in Southern Europe. Trips to Italy and Spain have not been discouraged. If this becomes the case, which I cannot imagine, information regarding this will be posted on the Foreign State Department's website". She also said, that "There have not been any reports of COVID-19 in skiresorts, so I would go if I had a holiday booked there."

So, thanks to the "professors" and "experts", we now see an exploding number of COVID-19 cases here in Denmark. Now, usually I keep my blogs somewhat family friendly, but these STUPID, IDIOTIC, BRAINLESS HEAPS OF DUNGMANURE ADVISED people that it would be safe to travel to Northern Italy an Southern Europe, even after a Dane, who went on a skiing trip to Northern Italy, had already been exposed to the virus, and been confirmed as having the disease.

I mean, come ON..! You are supposed to be the EXPERTS in this field. Even me, with limited knowledge of communicable diseases know, that it's a VERY bad idea to travel to anywhere that the virus is at. It is also a very bad idea to take a CRUISE to OSLO at this time. But people still do that, for some reason.

Either they must not like their jobs, or they severely underestimated the seriousness of this virus.

This turned into a bad day.

Today started like any other. I woke up at 6 am, went out of bed at 6.20 am, was out the door at 6.30 am and at work at 8.30 am. Pretty standard stuff.

The day was also pretty normal. Lots of orders to fill, and lots of fun to be had - until I read a text from my roommate.

Someone at his place of employment is currently being tested for the corona virus, and he hasn't been feeling well for a few days. So, per his doctors order, he is to quarantine himself at home, for the next two weeks, or at least until the corona test comes back. If it's positive, then he's going to have to stay home for two weeks - and so shall I.

I REALLY don't hope it's positive. Me being home for two weeks is really not what I am looking for right now. I want to work!

So what started as a great day, turned into a day which I really just want done.

Today's rating: thumbs down

14 day lockdown in Denmark!

Here's the situation with Covid-19:

Every single school is closing for 2 weeks
All government employees in non-critical functions are being sent home
Families are urged to keep their kids home, starting tomorrow
Two people in critical condition due to Covid-19
All gatherings of 100 people or more are being discouraged
514 infected people
The strategy, about who is being tested, is changed
The Foreign State department has adapted their travel guides.

So this is essentially a 2 week lockdown of Denmark. Will this stop the spread of the virus? Who knows!

1st World Problems.

Those of us, who live in a developed country, sometimes run into some problems. Like the coffee was bad, the food wasn't warm enough, and the bed was too hard.

Those are known as 1st World Problems.

I have a few of my own, today.

Firstly: I bought a universal remote a few months ago, and I STILL can't get it to work. I try to follow the instructions, but the remote just isn't responding to my inputs. I then ordered another remote, that was supposed to work with my TV. It never showed up, and the package was lost.. But the biggest 1st World Problem that I have: I have so many video games to play, that I don't know which one I want to play.
35 on my laptop, and 25 on my PS4. I have spent the last hour or so, just scrolling past all the games, going "No, I don't want to play that. No, not that either. No, I can't be bothered to play that. No, not that one either."

I should just pick one and spend a few hours with that.

Also, the latest information from the government regarding the corona virus: No physical contact (meaning no hugs, kisses and handshakes). That's gonna be very weird when I visit K again. No hugs? I like giving hugs..
