Surprise visit!

A few days ago, my friend wrote me, and told me that she was attending her half-brothers birthday, and she wanted to know if she could spend the night at my place after the birthday was finished, and she would head back home the following day.

"Of course", was my answer, so she packed up her things and headed towards me. 25 hours after she arrived, she was back on the bus home.

In 12 days, she will be back again. This time for a 4 day visit, so it'll be nice to have her company again.

And no, we are still not dating or having sex. We just enjoy each others company, which is good enough for me!

My friend is coming back!

I mentioned something about a friend of mine who stayed at my place for 2 months. She is coming back on the 25th, for a 4-day stay, which I am extremely excited about.

I noticed some of the comments to that blog. It seemed to suggest that me and her were doing some s*xual stuff. I can tell you right now, that we didn't. We hugged and cuddled, but that's it.

I didn't keep some of her underwear either. She took everything with her, which I am totally fine with. I am not that kind of guy, who gets creepy with his friends. I would never do that to her either, since she is an old friend of mine.

Did I fall for her? Oh absolutely. I still am deeply in love with her, which I have told her. She got red in the face to begin with, but then told me it wasn't mutual - yet. So until that day comes, I am not going to make any form of advancement on her. Because I am a gentleman!

In other news: I had a very interesting phone call yesterday with a company in Amsterdam. They want my skills, so I am now in the process of being recruited there. I don't know yet if I am going to do it. Time will tell.

So for now, I will just play The Witcher 3 and relax!

Job interview and other things!

Today, I went for a job interview in Copenhagen for a job at a place called Hello Retail. It's a web hosting service, that also offers a wide variety of coding options. The job I have applied for, is in customer service, where I have to take calls from people, and write down what they want done. If it's a light piece of coding, I can do it myself, but if it's a big process, say pictures on an online shop, I have to send it off to the backend team, so they can make the fixes, and keep the customer happy.

They need the following:

Basic understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript knowledge, without having to be a developer. At the same time, you also have basic web knowledge – such as simple knowledge about URLs, parameters, web tracking and analytics, structured data, etc.

Extroverted communications skills, since most of the contact will be by phone

Be able to balance several things at the same time

And love to have fun while working.

I can tick all those boxes, so I am a perfect fit for the team! The interview went well, so now I am waiting for them to come back with an answer. Possibly in mid-May.

Apart from that, things are going well. I had a friend over for a visit, which was supposed to last 6 days. She ended up staying over 2 months! But I loved every second of her being here. She will be back on the 25th, so not long until that.

Now I will go back and see what I can do with my day today. I might put on a movie, or play a video game.

It - A review!

I mentioned in a previous blog, that I had seen the movie It, but I never wrote a review of it. So I thought that I would do just that.

The story is extremely straight forward: In the summer of 1989, a group of bullied kids band together to destroy a shape-shifting monster, which disguises itself as a clown and preys on the children of Derry, their small Maine town.

I am not usually into horror films, but It has captured what a good horror film is: Exciting, creepy and full of great performances.

The runtime for this movie is a genre-breaking 2 hours and 15 minutes. Usually, horror films has a strict 90 minute runtime. Think about it: Every horror movie you have seen lasts 90 minutes. It's like there were some committee going "Right, we need a standard runtime on our horror movies. Waddaya got?"

Anyway, sidetrack! Let's get back to the review!

Bill Skarsgård stars as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. He gives an awesome performance, and he is sufficiently creepy enough to pull off what will undoubtedly be hailed a legendary performance!

The kids are being played by Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer and Wyatt Oleff, and they are each doing a wonderful job. There is also a particularly nasty bully called Henry Bowers, who is played by Nicholas Hamilton. Being the victim of bullying myself, I can confirm that this Henry Bowers is THE single worst person I have ever seen in a movie. He is a vicious, nasty piece of human garbage, but all bullies have a weakness - in Henry's case, it's his cop father.

The six kids, lovingly named The Losers Club, Henry Bowers and the entity known as Pennywise form a fantastic horror movie, that I really, really enjoyed. For the first time ever, I am looking forward to a horror sequel!

10/10, hands down!

Quarantine - a review!

I am on a bit of a horror binge today. I have seen the remake of It, and now I have finished Quarantine, the 2008 remake of the Spanish movie .

The story is pretty straight forward: A journalist and a cameraman has been tasked with shadowing a LAFD crew for the night. They get a call to an apartment building, where something strange has occurred. It soon becomes clear, that this is no ordinary call, and that there is something bizarre and more sinister at play than they had been anticipating.

The movie is found-footage style, and I like that about this one. It gives it more of an authentic and terrifying feel to it. I enjoyed the way that the movie went from "Just a regular day" to "Oh my god, what's happening and how do we stop it from happening any further?"

The actors in this movie are doing a great job, and they really put on a great performance. Jennifer Carpenter has the leading role in this movie, and I enjoyed her performance as a reporter, who gets WAY in over her head, and ends up a nervous wreck. Steve Harris is her camera man Scott, who we rarely see, but has quite a big role to play, because we see the movie from his perspective.

Other actors include Jay Hernandez, Johnathon Schaech, Columbus Short, Rade Serbedzija and Andrew Fiscella.

If you are into found-footage style horror, with plenty of terror, you will love this film. Me, as a film lover, enjoyed the way it was shot. I also enjoyed the acting from Jennifer Carpenter.

Quarantine lands on a solid 9/10!

Overdrive - a review!

I was browsing Netflix, looking for something to see, when this movie popped up in my recommended feed. The synopsis reads: "Two roguish brothers' penchant for stealing vintage sports cars gets them tangled in the animosity between two French mafia rivals", and the cast was listed as Scott Eastwood, Freddie Thorp and Ana de Armas.

Now, I am a sucker for movies with cars in them, so I thought "Fine, I'll watch this. It'll probably be terrible, since most car movies are."

The movie begins in Monaco, with an auction where they are auctioning off a rare 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, of which there are only 2 in the World. (I did some fact checking on that one, and it turns out it's correct information. Nice research!).

Anyway, the car is sold, and is put on a transporter, bound for an unknown destination. On the way out of Monaco, two brothers are ready to intercept and steal the car. They manage to do so, but upon delivery, they are knocked out and taken to a guy called Jacomo Morier. They wake up, tied to a chair, with the threat of impending death. They are given an ultimatum: Steal a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO within one week, or die. Naturally, our two brothers decide to steal the car, or at least attempt to.

They gather a crew, and then the movie really kicks into high gear (no pun intended).

I enjoyed this movie immensely, and it's a fantastic movie for any car fanatic out there. A few of the cars in this movie is an E Type Jaguar, an AC Cobra, numerous Ferrari's and of course that stunning 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic. It has some great stunts, but some of the car chases felt sped up. A pity, considering it would have been a joy to watch some intense car chases.

Overall, this movie lands in the 8/10 area.

You can see it on Netflix, or own it on blu-ray/dvd!

Back blogging!

So... It's been a while since I was last here. What has happened since the last time?

Not much, if I am honest. I wasn't given the permanent position at the job where I was interning, so I am now looking for something else. So far, nothing has come up.

I am also having one of my friends over for a visit. Me and her get along great - so great that some people believe we are dating, which we aren't. People seem so amazed, that we are sleeping in the same bed together, without doing anything to each other. Friends CAN sleep in the same bed, without it turning into sex or a make out session.

Apart from that, things are going alright!

Texans are mad!

There is a small tuner company in Sealy, Texas. They are making high performance monsters. What is that company? It is Hennessey Performance.

They take somewhat ordinary cars, and make them into souped up monsters, Some of the highlights include the 650R, Venom GT, VelociRaptor and the Exorcist.

The latest creation is the Goliath, which is based on a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss Z71. They have made it into a 6X6, and stuffed a 705 horsepower animal into the front.

The engine starts out as the factory 6.2L V8 engine, and it is then upgraded with the Hennessey’s HPE700 Supercharged engine upgrade which includes a 2.9L supercharger system producing 7 psi of boost along with a stainless steel exhaust upgrade producing 705 bhp @ 6,200 rpm and 675 lb-ft torque @ 4,200 rpm. 0-60 mph times are expected to be in the mid 4 second range even with the additional weight of the 6X6 conversion. Additional GOLIATH 6X6 upgrades include:

6X6 Conversion with additional axle, wheels, tires and brakes
All new rear suspension system
Eight-inch lift kit
Custom 6X6 truck bed
Hennessey 20-inch wheels
BFG 37-inch off-road tires
GOLIATH 6X6 & HENNESSEY graphics
Rollbar upgrade
LED lights
Hennessey front and rear bumpers
3 year / 36,000 mile warranty

And the price for all this madness? $375.000. They will only make 24 of them, though.

I think that Texans are the most insane people in the world.

News from Denmark!

Or, news from the Danish political party, Alternativet (translated into The Alternative).

The leader of that party, wants to make our cellphones and washing machines more expensive, by taxing electronic devices with harmful ingredients in them. The idea is, that they want people to pick more environmentally friendly phones and washing machines.

Naturally, they are the only ones with that opinion. Some believe that taxing people isn't the way forward, and that other, more acceptable solutions are picked.

Another piece of political news, comes from Veganerpartiet (translated into The Vegan Party). Actually, there are loads of news from that party. One of them is, that they want to ban the milk that kids are served in schools, because, according to them, it is an obsolete thing to serve. "Milk is a highly unethical item of food", is their reasoning behind that.

One of the other things, that The Vegan Party have said, is that by eating meat, you are beating your kid and you are a p*dophile. Apparently, the ones who eat meat, are just straight up monsters. But according to the guy behind the political party, that is a misunderstanding, and that that wasn't what they meant by that. At all. They simply wanted to draw attention to what is right, and what is wrong. And for some reason, they chose to imply, that by eating meat you are a monster to your fellow humans.

I am not a vegan, but I have some friends who are. I don't really believe that they are feeling the same way as the political party, but I can always ask around.

So yeah, the Vegan Party is just a bit out there, if I am honest.

Warkings/Follow The Cipher/Amaranthe - a review!

Since the death of my father, I have only been to one concert, and that was Shania Twain. So when a Facebook page offered up a competition for two tickets to a gig in Copenhagen with the power metal band Amaranthe, I tried my luck and entered the competition, and I won.

Yesterday was the day of the concert. I had enlisted a friend to come with me, since I knew he was a big power metal fan. And wow, was that evening fun!

The first band was Warkings. Nobody knows the members or where they are from, because they wear costumes on stage. The drummer was dressed like a Spartan, which was pretty rad to see! The rest of the band were dressed in home made costumes, which added a sense of theater to their show. Their lyrical themes are warriors and war, and they were extremely entertaining to watch. So much energy on the stage!
7/10

Next up was Follow The Cipher, which started as a side project for the lead guitarist from Sabaton. Their set was primarily Sabaton inspired, and the lead singer was trying her absolute best to entertain. I would have loved them, if they were any better than they were. Sadly, they were quite a disappointment. During Follow The Cipher, some dude in front of me kept blocking my view, which was fairly annoying. Whenever I moved, he moved right in front of me. I believe he was trying to look at the lead singer, but still. So annoying! Anyway, Follow The Cipher definitely has some potential - but it wasn't fulfilled that night.
4/10

Then it was time for the main event. Amaranthe. A Danish/Swedish band that are notorious for being extremely entertaining live. They opened up with Maximize, which kind of set the tone for the show. It was going to be quite the party!

Sadly, my back gave up three songs in, so I was forced to leave.

If my back had stayed comfortable, I would have seen the entire show, which I read was one of the best shows they ever played.

So for the short three song concert I saw, Amaranthe scored high on my list. It was easily one of the best power metal shows I have been to in a long time.

Exploring a new music genre.

I am very much a heavy metal fan. Usually, that's the only genre I listen to most of the time, but there are some breaks where I put on some country music.

But I felt like exploring a new genre: Rap! Or hip hop, to be broader.

So I put on the most popular female artist at the moment: Cardi B, and her newest album, Invasion of Privacy. So far it's a mix of "straight fire", as they say, and deep, personal songs. But is it an artist that I will become a fan of? Maybe.

She definitely has the catchy songs. One of them is "I Like It", even though it's a song about money and ex boyfriends. Most of her songs are about how rich she is, and how much money she earns. Usually I stay away from that type of music, but in this case, I am giving it a chance.

This isn't the first time I have explored rap, though. I listened to Drake's new album a few weeks ago, and it didn't do anything for me. I found it extremely boring, if I am honest.

But Cardi B has some home runs on her new album, for sure.

I will still be a metal fan, though.

The Grand Tour season 3 episode 5 - a review!

It is Friday, which means a new episode of The Grand Tour!

This time, Jeremy takes The Grand Tour to Sweden, where he tests a Lamborghini Urus on snow, and he also stages a race between the Urus and a Porsche 911 Turbo, to see if Lamborghini has made a fast SUV.

Back in England, May is testing the Alpine A110, while Hammond makes a touching and amazing segment to the late Scottish racing driver Jim Clark, who tragically passed away during a race on Hockenheim on April 7, 1968.

I liked this episode. I didn't think I was going to, because of the synopsis, but I was very much entertained throughout the episode.

Hammond has a particularly fun rant about horses, during the Conversation Street segment. They also explain that new companies are modernizing old cars, which makes for some truly spectacular results.

This episode will bag a solid 8 out of 10 from me!

The Grand Tour Season 3 is streaming NOW on Amazon Prime!
