gozoman2: Different kettle of fish.....
Iraq was one huge mess perpetuated by the US because there is oil. I am stating nothing new here as I have made my stand clear on other occasions......the US will never be justified for an unauthorized, illegal occupation of another country which is also going against international accords.
The definition of democracy as perpetuated by Bush in Iraq was.....is a crime against humanity.
The Middle eastern situation of Palestine is a different story entirely.
Why? Because it's sixty years old?
By the way i'm not an anti Semite - all this doesn't make sense to me.
Hamas begins unprovoked rocket attacks from Gaza and Israel responds thus making clear that Israel is the ugly ogre in the situation. Since there was no such place as the nation of Palestine prior to 1948, I am wondering why Egypt, Jordan, or Syria have not created a homeland for these folks who are ethnically theirs. Moreover, when a nation of Palestine was offered upon the creation of Israel, the Arabs rejected it in favor of pushing for the destruction of Israel instead. We see how that effort has played out over the last 60 years. We should of course turn our back on the only true and functioning democracy in the middle east, it’s the right thing to do.

Forget the location for a second....
There have been tribes of different people in existance since time itself. But as the years unfold, our numbers keep on growing, and the space remains the same.
We have been seeing the flow of civilizations and cultures changing the landscape since history itself has been recorded. In your own land, South Africa, the Zulu nation was pushed back by the new insertion of peoples from the south. Had the British the right to call that land thier own? Did the Boers? Why? Because they were born there?
This is the same story all over the planet. This is the situation of Palestine. We have two tribes, the jews, who now have established a country called Israel, for better or for worst, internationally recognized and accepted, and we have a people who are desperately waiting for international justice to be done and give them a homeland, the Palestinians.
Striving for the destruction of one will not make the other happen.
Hamas is ready to set the whole area on fire so long as they destroy Israel.
Remove that factor from the region, and the possibility of finding solutions become more real. Or...the leaders of Hamas have to learn how to negotiate.

Excellent point Gozoman... The same can be said of many other places.
Apostophe: So when exactly will the Palistinians get a little corner of their land back and retain some of their dignity?
Clearly not until Hamas and other like minded groups are removed from the equation. Far too long if you ask me but then I do not entirely blame Israel for reacting in the way they have as long as terrorists are their neighbours.

I'ts been much of the same for many years now - going around in circles - the Palestinians always on the losing side. I'ts obvious though just talking to people, listening to news reports etc. that the Palestinian does not enjoy the same regard as the "Israeli" does.
mickeyscouse: i think the iranians should fire some rockets at tel aviv to help there brothers out
that would really solve the problem now wouldn't it......
and result into the entire area we today know as Iran becoming a nuclear desert because believe me, if there is one country we really have to be scared WILL use nuclear is not Russia nor China, but Israel.

Excellent observation; The Sonoma State Univerity of California has just released its report on all the censored news stories of the year. It is called Project Censored. Each year since 1976, Project Censored has released a top-25 list of 'news that didn't make the news'---key stories they feel are "under reported, ignored, misrepresented or censored by the US corporate media.' And while the majority of the items on their list are arguably too America-centric to really impact some countries, a quick overview reveals some that reverberate both internationally and internally. Might I recommend that those wishing to actually see the censored news from our so called 'free world media' go to : projectcensored.org for the complete list.
I always find it amusing how Muslim countries attack Israel and think this is fine because they feel Jews are a cancer on the earth, but when Israel strikes back they cry like little girls. The best part is hearing the word terrorist used when a nation like Israel is defending themselves, but you feel that word is taboo when Israel is the victim.
But lets be fair here, Israel gave Gaza back with the condition that no fighting come from there, then the Palestinian people are using Gaza as another staging ground to attack from.
With this being the case.. Israel should blow them right back out of Gaza and take it back!
when agreements can't be made and honored.. why give.

That would be a good answer for the "Who Will Start WWIII" thread.
China tried something similar during the so called 'police action' in Korea , by sending vast numbers of 'volunteer troops' to push the 'allied troops' out of the entire peninsula. (Of course, they would have succeeded if the threat of US atom bombs had not been used, halting those 'volunteers'), but if the entire Muslim world along with European factions that are very pro Palestine would start sending volunteers much better armed to fight the Zionists, that could very well prove interesting as to how the Zionists would respond... ie. would they bomb Cairo or Amman if volunteers were being gathered there to go into Gaza or Israel to fight the Zionists...would they attack any European city where volunteers were being recruited with the full support of the people...or Tehran...or Mecca??? Interesting possibilities... Arafat's old PLO groups never had a problem in getting foreign volunteers from around the world and training them...
I agree with the Barron, Hammas is always picking a fight and when Israel defends its self of course civilans get killed because Hamas is a cowardly terrorist group who hides behind civillans, would you expect anything different from a terrorist then to be a coward? Hammas broke the peace they have nothing to cry about and as far as the international community being quiet thats because they know israel has always shown great restraint but has every right to defend its self. Kind of a no Brainer, maybe Hammas should get a brain and stop once and for all.
