The Question.....WHY

Thrashing rain, beats a roof
deafening sound, giving proof
Of weather's, controlling ways
nature's strength, doesn't play

Sends a warning, to beware
rushing water, has no care
Engulfs -collects as it runs
sinister outcome, no friendly fun

Puddles may attract, in youth
swirling floods, come with proof
Of rapid changes, nature brings
until a rainbow, when birds sing

Moisture hangs, in heavy air
Soggy ground, flushed bare
Of colour except, dull mud
acting magnetic, as feet trudge

Through the squelching, wet soil
making work, with heavy toil
Until the sun can warm and dry
some ask the question, of course its 'WHY.'

About this poem:
as we experience the tail end of the bad weather that rattled Australia earlier, leaving serious damage, we may accept and cope...but sometimes wonder....WHY

BUDS....

Beauty of buds, ripe to explode
Tree and branches, to carry load
Dainty-wrapped, pockets supreme
Captured in painting, forever seen.

Imagine fragrant, smelling sweet
Enhancing air, gives nose a treat
Our enjoyment, till petals flutter
Spent perfume-life, left in gutter

Blossoms once clustered, tight balls
Displayed in vase, waiting to fall
Nature gives beauty, enhances a day
Enjoyment gift, along life's way....

Yet many who pass, don't stop to view
Not even attracted, by colour hues
So sad nature's gift, is not seen
When happiness-beauty starts green

SURREAL NATURE....

Memory of snow, coats the ground
Silence heighten, without sound
Walking feet, explosive crunch
Crystal mirrors, ice-cream-lunch

Crisp icy air, breath turns to steam
Once trodden snow, turning cream
Nature's lies hidden, a scene surreal
Of familiar landscape, till sun peels

Scene as expected, on mountain break, or
short time presentation, as Christmas Cake
Until exposed reality, returns daily norm
Defined by shapes-textures, normality reborn

SHUT DOWN....

Mottled grey, tinged with black
Heralds a night, when light lacked
Crystal gleam, that comes with day
Fading slowly, as sun gives way

To shut-down, that twilight brings
Muffled bird sounds, no longer wing
Across a sky, where peace now reigns
As active life, now slowly drains

Sleep snubs the sound of life
Though in shrubs, a time for mice
Venture unseen, by the human eye
Till a stalking cat, now hidden lies

In wait to pounce, catch its prey
So much easier, as ends the day
Rest will revive, until the dawn
Repeats the process, day reborn

Cueva Oculta

Shadows painted on my face
Passing clouds over my eyes
Lost my gaze into a cavern
Attentive to my heart’s soft rhythm
Feet stuck to an earthen floor
Aromas of decay and springs
Besides a wet glistening rock
Hands held touching a crevice
Tracing any hint of sensation
Heightened in every senses
Taking that first quiet step
Somewhere deep inside my soul

COLOURS........

Colours represent beauty, to mesmerize
Some from autumn, or in summer skies
Difference between, a gentle flame
Bright-clear-cool, russet can't tame

Primary colours, sharp-powerful-strong
Until fragile spring daisies, petals long
Open golden centre, so bright as a sun
Riding high in blue skies, where clouds run

In winter, crisp white snow hides earth
Gown of purity, as a heavenly re-birth
Footsteps leave winter image, to guide
Those lost, their souls could have died

Spring, a special time when life wakes
Through the soil, explosions will break
Seeds in a hurry, to reach warming sun
As over land, newborn creatures run

Throughout each season, colours guide
Darkest in winter, when harsh winds ride
Across a scene, brown-brittle-bare
Waiting a spring, giving gentle care

So through sunshine, wind-snow-rain
Deep into soil, precious water drains
Stirring nurture, when time is right
Sun draws life in colours, for delight.

These four seasons, that rotate
Whether by ocean-mountain-lake
Colours enhance, our life and scene
Prove colours, a reality not a dream

About this poem:
Colours represent to me the seasons, that here in NZ we can almost experience in one day, though snow is confined to the more southern areas....as the north is semi tropical.......and spring, summer and Autumn the seasons we experience most......

Sycamore leafs
on sticks of Winters bones
shoals of seasons reefs
lighthouse and the stones

Spring is the song of butterfly's departing
while cloud dragons roost on the coals of the sun

soul of songs in flight
dreams in tides of light
moon of the seasons bright
for Spring was the blossoms sprite
by beauty the wind alight
mind the soaring kite
sett sail to stars own height

NATURE'S VICE.

Nothing compares with a hot sunny day
When a canopy of trees, give shaded way
Hidden and secure, from a hot summer sun
Sparkling through leaves, where a river runs

Rays of sunlight, sprinkled from above
Dancing on water, a lace made of love
Mesmerizing beauty, breathtaking-free
Shimmers with life, shrouded by trees

Draped in shadows, cooling breeze holds
As tinkle from water, gentle never bold
Meandering with caution, protected serene
Nature's gift allows, anyone to dream

Of trees and blossoms, capturing souls
As river makes its journey, towards goal
Peace and tranquility, enclosed in life
Depth-speed-sharp rocks, nature's vice.

life with Trees

I meet them every day breeze or with ease swaying as if they are saying hello
with leaves that fall at my feet again never to meet
but perhaps they are saying life is fleeting
we will forever see you
as life goes on with falling years.
