sea of keels

heaven knows
and heaven tries
unpick the wrongs you've done
unpick the lies

cos you don't know
how it feels
trudging through a day
in a sea of Atlantic keels

if I had an aeroplane
if I had things
Id fly to the Arctic
just to cool my wings

I'd go to your house
just for the day
and I build me hammock
in your hair and sway..

If I had an aeroplane

well heaven knows
and heaven lies
there's an undiscovered
shade of brown
in your Hazel eyes

but you don't know
how that goes
how the earth.. changes pitch
when it feels your toes

If I had an aeroplane
if I had wings
Id fly past every weaknesses
to a place of Kings

I'd fly down to Mexico
just to surf the truth
and my board would be the promises
that I made in youth

but my boat is older
and my dreams ain't new
so I dive in the bitter swell
and I dream of you

The Wolf

The Wolf

Where can I go? There’s no where left.
The land of forests is bereft?
Persecuted all our lives,
From the dawn of time,
From the first flint knife.

Sacrificed as offerings,
Stories told in different tribes,
Warriors fought wearing our hides,
We gave them power,
They took our lives.

Admired by some, despised by more,
We never had peace, only war,
Hunters now have no reason,
We are too few for their hunting season,
They kill for fun and we are now done.

They took our land, they took our lives,
Killed us with spear and hunting knives,
Killed us with bows, killed us with guns,
There is nowhere left to run or hide,
Will you miss us when we’ve all died?

Wait The Sun.....

Trees now proudly wear their green
Fresh dancing leaves, everywhere seen
Summer hovers, waiting in the wings
Erratic weather, reminds us this is spring

Sky rotates, between blue and grey
Showers to sunshine, warns each day
Patience is needed, but it's coming fast
Seasonal changes, all four don't last

Giving us times, to enjoy nature's beauty
To show respect, is our human duty
But when the cold, makes you shiver
Dream of the warmth, with sun the giver

REGENERATING LIFE.

Early morning, the promise of a new day
Dull and grey, till sun comes out to play
Changing emotions, as warmth spreads
Confirmation of outcome, not rain you dread

Every day as we wait, to learn what's in store
Clothes we must favour, walking out the door
Affecting plans, how to spend our time
Defining the outcome, when weather is fine

So on odd occasions, when caught in the rain
Aware of rain water, swirling down the drain
Without a care in the world, you can smile
Walking carefree, a few steps or a mile

Be thankful, attitude plays its special part
Accepting nature's choices, with open heart
Knowing that everything, has a good reason
Regenerating life, the real reason for seasons

the perfect woman

say it in a sequence
of silent lullabies
say it in the echoed
phrases of goodbye

say it a way
that one day makes me care
say it so I kayak
through the rapids of your hair

say it without speaking
without thought or conscious guile
say it in a fraction
of the whole that makes you smile

say it loud in quiet halls
without worry or concern
say it in a foreign tongue
the one I'd never learn

say it by the way you walk
by the way your hips block light
say it by a waking kiss
in the middle of the night

say it as a tidal surge
impossible to curb
say it by actions only..
we both know love's a verb

mountain man

I'm rough hewn Lil
you picked me still
to your North star
I'm the black

trace elements fly
to fill the sky..
you bring the things
I lack

I'm running Lil
I'm running still..
from the law
and from my sound

the man who fell
can lodge in hell
he tried to put me
in the ground

I found the Earth's rhythm
it bonded in my core
I get to trace a human face
each year at the General Store

The Old October Sky

Sitting still under a crimson tree
Casting my eyes over the great marsh
Now wrapped in a shrouded mist
Out past some long river’s mouth
Where large clusters of black clouds
Go racing by perpetually fast
And under the old October sky
The dusk and frost await their freedom
From the vanishing summer sun

October…. The Goddess

Those golden suns and purple leaves
And shadows creeping long and lonely
From scenes of many happy dreams
In fields full of fragrant stars and asters
October like a goddess of ancient splendor
Comes riding down the mountainside
Reflecting waves of spectacular color
Dancing delightfully in her eyes

Trees sighing

Trees sighing and upturned pots
Soil scattered
El ninya comes bringing
wind and rain welcome
if gentle enough
but does that ever happen?
Unlikely here in this harsh land isn't it?
Californian fires fade as
the Ozzie bushfire season looms
this year droughts thirst quenched somewhat
and fuel consumed
the fire is not so ominous we hope
Year in year out harsh is ever harsher.
