A New Years Blessing...............

A New Years dawn bought a welcoming surprise
A Springs connection that delighted our eyes
An offshore breeze and a glassy sea
Waited for us as we broke through the tree
Not a soul around as I reigned in my smile
Brought back memories of a lifetime worthwhile
How many morns had it been
How many dawns had I seen
The coolness of the water quenched my thirsty soul
I savoured this moment to make me whole
As we made our way out through the break
Is this real or from a dream will I awake
The point is rocky and the tide is low
The sets arrive and put on a show
My mate strokes into one it has good shape
As I ponder on our luck and this beautiful break
How fortunate we are to have what we do
Now it's my turn to play and my thoughts are with you.....

Mornings

Morning stillness all around. No one has yet to arise or touch their feet upon the ground. The clock slowly ticks while my heart gently pounds. Early mornings begin with such peaceful sounds.

Snowy weather has taken a lift. Revealing to all earth's beautiful gift. The sun is now rising. I enjoy taking in the view. It is breathtaking, refreshing and new. Another blest day for me and you.

Night Shadows - rhyme

Shadows flit across the valley shading
more and more they are pervading.
Changing the shapes of all they touch
of the big trees standing tall in a clutch.

Creeping along altering as it grows
here a scary monster lurks and bows,
as branches bend in the gentle wind.
Out into the clearing slips the hind.

Its size blurred in the dark gloom
and startling at the water spume
As it soars up briefly from the stream
churning the water high lighting the bream.

As dawn high lights the sky, they fade
returning to normal, to dark farewell they bade.
Mysteries of night now sleep til dark returns
resting hiding under the lush green ferns.

Tribute To A Vulture

Antithesis of avian beauty
Monstrosity of the bird family
Head and neck very hideous looking
In dull black wrinkled up unfeathered skin

Exposed decaying animal matter
Can produce unhealthy bacteria
That can endanger other life species
Threatening them with illness and disease

Consumption of animal carrion
Is part of your normal food ingestion
Though your appearance may cause revulsion
You fulfil a most essential function

Your motion on land is very clumsy
With those black legs you step so awkwardly
Yet when you take off to the air in flight
Your graceful movement is a pleasant sight

Riding air currents way up in the sky
On motionless wings you go sailing by
While cruising up there at such a great height
You still search for food with your keen eyesight

Though to some, you may appear unsightly
Your role in nature is prized most highly
You are indeed a most worthy creature
I pay tribute to you, noble vulture

About this poem:
(iambic pentameter)

The vulture indigenous to my native Trinidad is the Black Vulture which is called "The Corbeau". As the poem says, they are very unsightly looking but once airborne, they become marvellous flying and gliding machines, and are delightful to view as they ride the air currents so effortlessly way up in the sky.

Rainbow

A magnificant wonder above my head
As the curtain open and drapes the clouds
Sunbeams multiply the colours intensity

Evoking red of morning´s dawn
Enlightening yellow of daylights glow
Chilling green of the fertile grounds
and calming violett of raindrops shimmer.

Leave me alone to enjoy my mind´s flow
Don´t disturb my emotional blaze
Don´t rape my melancholy with laughter
As only my tears flow let my rainbow apear.

Happy

When you are happy
with some one you care for
does it matter
what hangs above
or below

The Bell Tolls

Sleepless nights/
Coltrane is dead/
Closed minds/

Forgotten promises
sealed in flesh,
sleepwalkers,
with the bell tolling
drenched in brackish tears,
my heart grieving
from lack of ambition, poet..

flows from history's
vanishing mirror.
where, where
is the cure, poet?

(pause)

The eyes of future
ideograms glitter from
midnight constellations,
embroidering maps
of the poet's soul
to reveal infinite treasures
dressed in fire,
exhaling golden flames,
leaping renewal
quivers beyond
the moral point of view
as blue rays of light
flint the flesh
purity gazes,

dazzling our coffee shop
at the end of the universe
if only for another brief
moment in time.

life heart

Echos
Pulse the beating heart
From tiny seed
To beat and flow
Rivers of blood

Swell within
Fills the viods
Within
Tiny vain s

Over time
One grows within
To grow
To ones full term to cease the flow
Over time to slow and die
The beat of life

The heart withers and has died

no title

Tides in the light of her eyes
dreams the soul of autumn sky's
as water and memory rise
tell of each leaf the colors arise
beauty's river seasons will baptize
green to red and the golden prize
