Ocean Pearls.

As oyster shells, to rocks cling
Deep in ocean, incubates bling
Beautiful pearls, matt-cloudy-clear
White-creamy-black, nature's tears

Reflector of beauty, frosted light
Shimmer not dazzle, pure in sight
Rich-classy-perfection, gem unique
Single or on strings, ladies seek

Nature's glow, giving sheer joy
Innocence so simple, acting coy
Peaceful aura, a purity so rare
Loving gift, to adorn or share

lady of bulls
from the the memory's of the first people
who shaped your breast from clay
in the Vally of jaguars
where maidens looked in polished obsidian mirrors
while adorning themselves in copper and gold
incense ceder and shells from a distant sea carved delicate beads
family's watched sunsets on fields of rippled grain
in a paradise before the dawn of war for the city had no walls

houses where entered through the roof, over the kitchen and down the chimney as it were, loved ones were buried beneath the floor, men on the left and women to the right, wight washed mud bricks carried pictures of dreams from another age, painted skillfully by hand of love
moving bright red ocher
great ancestors of my spirit
shall are hands not move of unison
as we look at the canvas and dream a goddesses face
for time is only dust between us
and souls are always born true

Wait The Sun

Damp overcast, the chill is real
Could a sun shine, if clouds peel
To expose a sky, of clear blue
Lift winter's grey, to summer hues

Spindles of branches, add to feel
Causing shivers, no sun to heal
Wind driven air, whips with cold
Spirits hollow, as rain acts bold

Seasons give physical, seal to life
Moods change, as a slash of a knife
Time must pass, as heat gains power
Returns-engulfs, turns buds to flowers

Within seasons, life can be renewed
Nourishes-builds, nature's given food
Stirs senses, a gift of earth's love
As from the heavens, sun-shines-above

Nature is red in tooth and claw

The dulcet tones of birds
Can brighten a day
As do baby lambs
At play.
A soft breeze caresses
Warm skin
Nature can soothe
A tempest within.

There is great beauty in nature
Great ugliness too
There are days when nature is vile
When the Gods are angry the air turns blue.

There's blood and gore
Petrified bones
The dead and dying
Emit deafening moans
Motherless chicks mouths
Beg for sustenance
From their souls depths.

The cycle goes on and on
Only the fittest survive.

The dark side of nature
"Red In Tooth And Claw"

October Mist, November sticks

When heat from many a day returning to school
Fuse with days leading to ghost and ghoul
,A mist hovers over the land,
Becoming Natures slight of hand.

Pumpkins appear with lives of their own
While corn stocks shake in the wind and moan,
Gaggles of geese lay low beneath mist,
And standing scarecrow smiles with a twist.

Upon us now November days stick trees
pointing the way, of where the
Upcoming snow will lay

The mist has risen, days are clear
Geese fly South both far an near
While we become Angles in the snow
Moving our arms to and fro

About this poem:
My poem is about my time of year. My favorite to be exact. I felt so alive writing it as I could feel the time around me before it has arrived.

The Hummingbird

Incredibly fast and yet so tiny
Dressed in feathers that refract the sunlight
Radiating such colourful beauty
Producing a true birdwatcher's delight

Suspending a living feathery mass
Wings beating at eighty times per second
Create a blur which for a short time lasts
Then in an instant later it is gone

Busily sipping each flower's nectar
As you rapidly flit from bloom to bloom
Viewing you in your glorious splendour
Chases away any feelings of gloom

A true master of acrobatic flight
Forward, backward and even upside down
What a marvellous captivating sight
Leaving the viewer speechless and spellbound

All bedecked in luminescent feathers
Blessed with a spectacular flying mode
Radiating such beautiful colours
That is the magic of the hummingbird

About this poem:
Trinidad, my native island, is sometimes referred to as the “Land of the Hummingbird” because more than sixteen different species of hummingbird have been recorded on the island.
The indigenous Native Americans, the Arawaks, named the island, "Iere", which, in their language, means "Land of the Hummingbird".
Two hummingbirds are shown on the island's coat of arms.

Nature Beguiles Me

My joy was Ephemeral
when I walked deep
into the woods,
human voices could be heard
in the distance;
be silent! I admonished my beating heart.

Wending my way to some
thick foliage, I squatted
till the human voices passed by
to their Sylvian lives,
the afternoon was
fragrant, I almost wept
with joy.

A Rabbit scuttled by
gazed right into my eye
kicked it's back legs
then scurried into a hole.

A huge tree lay felled,
It became a larder for all insects,
there were huge ant's playing piggy-back
or maybe making love,
they say that if ant's were larger
they would rule the world.

The symphony of the trees
around me were manna to my ears,
their long lean bodies and
nodding heads were so graceful,
they would have been the envy
of a Prima-Ballerina.

When I'm alone I become part of nature,
I am nature.
Nature beguiles me, like no lover
or friend ever could.

Nature's Harmony

Wandering through the quiet woods
a little fantail appears
It dances in the air from branch to branch
in this special place we both can share

Then suddenly I come upon
a quiet sparkling stream
beams of light flicker through the trees
with a magical delight Its not a dream

Its still winter freshness spills the air
snowy grey clouds cover the sky
with paddocks of blue
just barely poking through

My little dog leads they way ahead
a look of excitement on his face
enjoying the jouney through this wilderness
alone together in our secret secluded space

Many hours we wander alone
weaving along the mossy tracks
where we go at time's we dont no
caught in nature's beauty the perfect show

The crazy noisy city life
has left us all behind
no great rush to have it back
I'd have to give up these leafy tracks

The trees the leaves
the birds and the bees
have snatched me away
Its so lovely I could come here everyday.

Summer

Summers ending hold on

not so fast, there is still time

to enjoy while it lasts

grilling, games, sunning

and summer concerts in the eve

eating outside and walking about

don't be in a hurry enjoy while it lasts

for winter will come as we turn away

from the sun so enjoy today

for tomorrow will come
