Just Shadows

A damp chill, creeps into air
Colour grey, dullness compare
Bright warm days, now passed
Just shadows, not sunshine cast

Growing darkness, upon ground
Cold stillness, has no sound
Approach, the season of winter
Wind blows, as trees splinter

Days are short, reducing light
Less of day, more times night
Leaves dance, tree branches sway
Unsettled evenings, becomes day

Merging slowly, we wait spring
Birds return, in morning sing
Seasons, nature's cycle is host
In mountains, pastures to coast

Uplifting souls, smiles return
In the air, no sense of burn
Just sun to warm, light a sky
Sparkling blue, where birds fly

a day in the dark

I lay asleep in the dark,
The wind blows and I sway,
A loud crash wakes me,
So there I lay,..
Awake in the dark,
No one around to hear me,
Its so cold and lonely,
I have only the trees to keep me sain,
They say dont leave us, dont leave us.
as I stand
At the edge of the small town,
but I say I want out, I want out
I cant take this anymore.
The trees old and wise scream with their all seeing eyes
We've been here for a thousand years we know everything
There is to know about this small town
we also know you
You can not exscape us.
I promise you I will be back just let me go
Let me go, let me go,
As the wind died down and the light exsposed
I was on my way, my journy unknown.

About this poem:
My friend said I should write more poems
So I will try to. I didnt feel emotionally ready to write
But when I can across these creepy trees
They seem to speak to me
I felt they were trying to tell me something
About there small town, like they wanted me
To stay, I don't know why, maybe it was my imagination
But ive never felt such strong esp coming from a group of trees before.
I wanted to share it. Maybe this poem Iis about a type of awaking, an awakening
To the subconscious. know I could probally do better but like I said I wasn't quite emotionally ready to come up with a super fantastic poem.

RUSTIC RAINBOWS

Hints of gold leaves, amongst green
Warn of changes, to colours supreme
Herald autumn, rustic rainbow seasons
Nature controls, colour-filled reasons

Discarded leaves, flutter-and-fall
Trees not bushy, stand-spindle-tall
Gradual bleakness, accept as winter
Grey-dull-damp, longer mists linger

Crops daylight, a night takes hold
Sun struggles to warm, remains cold
Grass turns to mud, pelted with rain
Water-rapid-flow, seeks escape drain

Rustic rainbow, leaves tumble free
High from above, canopy of trees
Then winter ends, trees stand bare
Springtime explode, eagerness share

New cycle begins, its seasons clear
Rotate sunshine to showers, as tears
Watering the earth, so sunny-warm
Change of seasons, with life re-born

This Is The Sun....

Exploding gold, an horizon climber
Shimmering autumn, a circle definer
This is the sun, in a morning sky
Waking experience, echoed by sighs

Time races ahead, as options abound
Encouraged by life, and what surrounds
Each day different, yet remains the same
Special moments, gift of memory gains

As each day end, colour fades from sky
Grey must cap, cloaking from on high
Preparation for nights lanterns, above
To shine and highlight, a world's love

FREEDOM...

Early morning, after first breath of light
Foggy mist drapes, before clouds flight
Wait warmth of sunshine, to lift and give
A spring days filled, with hope to live
Life as you desire, freedom your right
From breaking dawn, to the depth of night

HEAVENLY CALL

Rumbles in the distance, the heavens wait
As clouds dense and smokey, wind can rake
Warning of rainfall, hovers in hidden sky
Clap of thunder, replicates a giant's sigh

Dark-evil caps earth, as a warning shakes
Puddles dark-dreary, as miniature lakes
Soon they are rippled, as raindrops fall
Splashes fast and heavy, as heavens call

Bright coloured flashes, light the sky
Rapid heavy rumbles, with speed now fly
Echo every corner, to vibrate the earth
Nature welcomes storm, passionate birth

Roller-coaster ride, angels looking down
Satan takes control, no smiles only frowns
Wait for its passing, when peace bring calm
Birds start singing, soothing nature's balm

When vibrant rainbow, lights a troubled sky
Peace engulfs the earth, atmospheric sigh
Sun starts to trickle, through clouds of grey
Replaces evil with love, nature's special way

no title (Rubaiyat)

those penny's about your brow
the only crown to which I bow
kings and queens on their own feet
whose hands not stranger to a plow

In the hall of hands
where the red god runs with the yellow deer
time is a sea immortal
embedding the magic of mind in shape
with smell of smoke and song of flame
guiding fingers in paint
for I pray to the shamans of a different dream
homage to the first of my kind

In the Dark of Night

In the Dark of Night

The night was strangely hushed and cloaked
by the clouds scuttling across the silvery moon.
The breeze made the night air feel chilled,
yet her flanks were covered in sweat
as she strained, muscles quivering and chest heaving.

It had to be quick as she could hear predators
for now in the far distance yet moving in.
Still she strained the legs and face now visible.
One last final thrust and it is born already
struggling to find its feet and be ready to flee.

Anxiously the mother licked and licked
stimulating muscles, nerves and blood.
Valiantly the baby stands and starts to suckle
its feet going every which way as it fights
for control over its unruly members.

Within five minutes its ready to run
its mother calls it deep into the herd.
Surrounding them with a protective barrier
Out of all this years Zebra foals only a
handful will survive and sire other foals.

The rest falling prey to Lions and other cats
the crocs too will feast at the river crossings.
The odd sickly ones become dinner for hyena's.
Such is life on the East African plains, nature
culls all but the fittest ensuring strong blood lines.

SEASONS OF THE WORLD....

Change of seasons, weather patterns adjust
Alerts temperature change, because it must
Nature signs hover, early warnings prepare
Nothing stays hidden, united world shares.

Continents change, as nature leads the way
Sun-lovers fight to retain, faded summer rays
Some countries rejoice, leave winter behind
Children's excitement mounts, for seaside time

Human's can't control, nature's guiding hand
Jumps north to south, preparing next land
Look to a season, giving life its boost
Fashion to hobbies, birds come to roost

Birth in hedgerows, as in spring fields
Different continents, autumn-arrival-sealed
Best accept-enjoy, when we have no control
Four seasons of nature, twelve-month-cycle-whole.

Refreshed by the seasons, birth towards death
From joys of spring, to a time seeking rest
Life like seasons, will never stand still
Nature is her wisdom, will the years peel......
