~Cobblestones~

Cobblestones gossip all over town
Two centuries whence first one laid down
Heels and skirmish, window tossed soils
Linens encroach, societies toile.

Carts drawn by hoof, willow sprig snap
Air drenched in thick, fog laden foul
Trenchcoat and top hat twenty feet tall
Lit from behind, a shadowy sight.

Whispering footsteps
Non-moon lit night.

Echoed drunken cheer
Off stone pillared walls
Tankards in clunk
There is no last call!

As the fireplace snaps and crackles out heat
Bartender serves scotch whiskey that's neat.

Anything goes this time of night
Backroom ballads
Justified fights.

Slaps on the a-ss
Cackling laugh
More drinks in pour
Corner leaned staff.

As the rats run the walls where the cobblestone meets
Growing in size with the same size of feet.
Lit from behind, a shadowy sight.

Whispering footsteps
Non-moon lit night.

Cats in the alley
Frosted hot breath
Territorial claim
One victim lame.

While the cobblestones gossip
With so much to say
It's only one night
That soon will be day.

Screams of pleasure
So distantly call
Not the first one heard
Nor the end of it all.

....

This is one night
Of many
Those cobblestones know.

Insomnia

A Sultry feeling,
lost in my mind,
I can't remember
Much of last night.

My Head is pounding,
splitting in two,
thinking too much,
remembering who?

Motor Engine roaring,
As people passing by.

Church bells hymns,
ringing in my ears,
Sounds like a jackhammer,
Pounding a concrete lullaby.

Peace and quite impossible it seems,
With the hustle and bustle
Of busy city life.

No rest for the wicked,
nor peace insight
No cool change to this heat wave
A typical Australian summer
With BBQs, flip flops and Flies

Falling Angels

Last night saw lights in the sky
Were Angels falling from Heaven
Rain fell steadily onto the ground
The tears of those left grieving

Lightning split the sky in twain
God’s voice roared like thunder
While down below the humans cowed
Consequences beyond comprehension

Battle raged between good and evil
Forwards and backwards swung the tide
End of day the war was won
Cast in Hell’s fiery furnace

Still they try to rise from deep
Deception their stock in trade
Ever watchful, ever wary
Angels stand at Heaven’s gate

In The Shadows

It follows, from shadow to shadow
So close I can almost smell it
It’s putrefying rank presence
Fear has a terrifying hold on me
Will I survive this terrible night?

War Dreams

Letting me down
Going all around
Wings badly torn
Flaming swarms
Brass yellow jackets
With sharp stingers
Made of hot lead
Hovers over me
Rain from hell
Hanging by a thread
Dangling my feet
Spinning all around
Looking down
The barrel of
A kaleidoscope
Of mud and grass
Flashing fire and smoke
Repelling down
Below turning blades
Watched by those
Whose minds only
Dreams for war

Light of life

On the sea of ??tears I wandered
on the shore of hope
and saw how the sun of love
reflected in the waves of sorrow

And when the night their dark veil
put on the world
yet they could not hide the light
the light of the moon from confidence
the light of the stars with confidence

So I wandered against the dawn
in the certainty
that even the darkest night
eventually gives way to the light of life.

war-child

oh! little child, the one thats in us
we live in terror here, its all around us
guns and bombs,so why all the fuss
waging wars for the name in god we do trust

your warm tears wont change a thing
even with all the love you bring
cause everything that man has built
will soon be destroyed

so hold on tight,my little loved one
a world that makes no sense,so now we must run
no more angels left,to save us from sudden death
everything that man creates will be used to destroy

oh! little child the one thats in us
you ask me all the time, the hell's wrong with us
no more answers for you, there are times I wish I knew
eden is just a dream, that man will destroy

brace yourself little one, watch it cave right in
they will tell you, but its a lie, nobody ever wins
the river of tears can't stop blood and these fears
the sounds of nature are deaf to man,but he hears destroy

no more bombs at night, nothing left,no guiding light
no more child's laugh or screams, this time we did it right
oh! little child we now not exist,we've taken life from you
your little body burned away, mans dream now destroyed away

Beneath Light Of The Pale Moon

Beware my friend, beware
In the backstreets, byways and alleys
Beneath light of the pale moon
There in the shadows they lurk

Should you be foolish, pass too near
No mercy you’ll be given
Your life is forfeit, there is no hope
And death is slowly coming

You pray for death to take you quick
Yet on and on you linger
In agony your screams burst forth
But not a sound breaks the silence

All around you world moves on
Not aware of your existence
And as your light slowly fades
No questions are answered

Sameness

Life, tell me there's more to it than this, surely it can't be that this is all there is.
I see a devoid and desolate wasteland, perhaps I'm mistaken but is this why
God made man? To spend all his days bewitched and bewildered, to frisk
and wallow in the ditch of familiar? Is life a barren Dead Sea of hopelessness ?
Indeed, it seems hopeless for I am drowning in this whole abyss, of monotony
Where newness and change has forgotten me, and there seems no stopping we,
go round and round and round again, yesterday, today, tomorrow the same!

Embers glow in thine eyes, silent lips on flight. Fires burning in the soul causing sprit fleeing loves bow. Heat sweltering in the heart making tears river flow, Begging, waiting for lifes plights ending with no where to go.
