Falluja Remembered.

Oh! How coalition War-Hawks a waring went
upon Iraq, based on lies and devious ill intent,
their steely stealth, awash with righteous dignity,
bewildered Heaven's gold spun antique morality,
could'st but only, pour thunderous wrath from afar,
silent fell, thus freed foul ambitious deeds of war,
thus ruin rained its avalanche, a blood bathed sway
gave way, to glorious flag waving conceited display;
so red ran the rivers, Uranium contaminated the sod,
humanity dismembered, by an Empire shallow waving rod,
hurricane of hate, covertly delivered by Chemical urns,
fanned 'White Phosphorous' loitered in death lingering burns,
Chemical Warfare, thus played out its silent doom,
like as a holocaust, the unwilling went to their tombs,
spared not Mother or child, with malice unknown painfully died
by proud Military Science, as its sullen evil applied
mid'st a Satanical altar, a man made poisonous well,
swaggers victory whilst herding the flock to the bowels of hell,

Oh! ye proud War Lords, sabre-rattling with empty vows,
flaunt self-appointed crowns with wreath of Laurel boughs,
Star, center stage in the theatre of cant hypocrisy,
with polished pomposity, bask as Soldiers of Democracy.

About this poem:
Doubtless I shall court disapproval such lines that focus upon Political rhetoric, founded on the propaganda of manipulated untruths, ignoring international convention and the voice of the people. It is a sad fact that both the UK and the USA are the most disliked nations on this planet of ours, I wonder why?

Foreign Soil

Face down in the mud
Before my eyes life flashes
Is this the place I will die
Where I will meet my maker

Dead and dying all around
Voices crying up to heaven
But no help to be found from there
Today God is just not listening

Next to me is Bluey, my mate
He died with his insides outside
Screamed so loud I can hear him still
In my head it’s bouncing round there

Mum and Dad, I won’t be home
Remember I will always love you
Look after Mary and little Johnny
Oh how I’ve missed them so

Untitled

Surrounded by the silence
Only night can bring
Enveloped in the darkened clouds
Arms which angels sing
Bated breath like wind does blow
Only sign of motion
Rampant thoughts take steps so slow
Attempt to stifle emotions
Hide and seek the random play
Not left for children’s feet
This game is not of one we choose
And ends with souls defeat.

Wild Spirits

Wild spirits, in a woods
Running like the wind
Blowing steady over
Bare branches howling
Since fallen leaves
Soaked by the rain
Lie on ground, still

Dodging traffic, ghosts
On soaked dirt roads
Blurry night vision
Foggy windshield
Laughing at the sight
Of swerving cars
In driver’s headlights

Screeching loudly, crashing
Tearing light from darkness
Life from death
Blood from my veins
Pouring like droplets
Strange crimson rains
Over and over again

Eludes my heart, freshly planted
Now like a lonely tree
So patient for you
To draw back to me
My earthly light
Almost extinguished
In freshly dug grave

A lonely castaway, is death
On a watery journey
Across time, immortal
Through portals sublime
To a place, confusing
Where beginning, is the end
Not our choosing

About this poem:
Freaked out lately with bad dreams and dark thoughts of death...crazy time of year or something. So just letting sometimes wild spirits out for a little frolicking and fun, I don't know?? Poetic freedom like free speech rules!

Insignificant - inspired by "Bottom Line"

The walls are getting higher
The light dimmer, darker
Efforts to reach out, quashed
Your thirst remains, unquenched
Your screams and wails now muffled!

Sunken into a timid sea of despair
Allowed yourself to turn into a slave
To the fear of a cold existence
Lacking in affection, dried up, bare
Killing what's left of sanity and self-esteem

You who once walked the world bravely
Over many chasms of narrow planks
Without fear, insecurity nor regrets
Confident in venturing off your comfort zone
With the love and faith of love ones, buoyed

Self-confidence, self-worth and even faith
They come in not one but innumerable forms
Degree of affection you perceive to receive
Creates in you a feeling of trust or fear
Ain't action speaks louder than voice?

Once lavished, affection poured..
A touch, a look, a voice tinged in none but love
A prince or a princess; you're wanted, worthy, loved!
The very bubble that you thought would last
The very forces that gave Zest in your life!

But when affection gradually is recoiled
When the heat turns into bitter cold
And merry voices flipped sided with eerie silence
Your desperate pleas falling constantly on deaf ears...
Fobbed off, ...what's left there is to hold on?

About this poem:
I came across "looknshare's poem titled Bottom-line" and somehow inspired me to put these lines together... an acknowledgement... I realize sometimes it pays to listen or at least acknowledge love one's efforts to reach out before it's too late...

Victory

So many times she thought she found love,
That maybe her prayers were answered from above.
So many times that she begged and she cried,
To be free from those hands that pried.
Those fingers that probed and those teeth that bit,
Far too early her candle should not have been lit.
For it was of the purest white, the brightest light,
Now remains the wick, locked in fright.
Born into this world, pure as a dove,
Soft as a lily, this result of love.
She’s stuck in a world, all on her own,
Many mistake her for being grown.
Acting as if she’s a piece of lawn.
Walking all over her, as if it’s some fun.
Then leaving her like trash, in the sun.
Shaken and battered she gets to her feet,
Not ready to admit this disgusting defeat,
Pledging one day, Victory.
But the years go by,
Time, it flies.
Memories still with her,
Not ready to say their GoodBye.
So many times she thought she found love,
That she would find a friend, with a hand to lend,
That maybe her prayers were answered from above,
And maybe to her wounds, they would tend.
So many times that she begged and she cried,
That they would open their heart and take her in,
To be free from those hands that pried,
And free her from her world of sin.
Those fingers that probed and those teeth that bit,
Take her hand and by her stand,
Far too early, her candle should not have been lit,
Tell her that they understand,
For it was of the purest white, the brightest light,
Someone tough and strong, full of might,
Now remains the wick, locked in fright,
Who can hold her throughout the night,
This is a story that few will know,
But none who will show, the burden they tow,
Eyes kept low, Foot pace slow,
No one heard the little girl when she said No.
Today stands the woman, tall and strong,
Looking down on all, who have done her wrong,
For today that little girl is now the Victor.

Crossroads

An arrow points in directions
unknown
Perhaps I'm following the seeds
I've sown
The high road or the low road is
a mysterious path ..who can tell
Tis a choice my friend between
heaven or hell..

Faces Of Emptiness

glassy-eyed people
moving as in a dream
looking without seeing
seeing without looking

utter hopelessness
pervading their souls
filling them with despair
and pessimism

lustreless eyes
no inner joy
just a deep emptiness
stifling their souls

dried-up people
shutting others out
shutting themselves in
lost in their loneliness

About this poem:
The initial title I gave this piece was "Soulessness" which refers to a lack of sensitivity or the capacity for deep feeling. It focuses on deep emptiness which stifles the soul. This may be the outcome of factors other than loneliness.
I am re-titling it "Faces of Emptiness".

The End

Hi save my last word
The end I see
I wave goodbye
Lost am I

Drained of thought
Pondering what to write
Lost poems of thought
My creative mind

Gone lost the words to say
Where to find my lost words to say
Where do they hide
In the darkness of my mind

The light gone my creative thought no more
Straining to think
Of poems galore
My mind dims
It leads to darkness

Lost my poems there gone no more
