Jesse

Jesse,..... it's your birthday, it's your day to play...
There's really not much else for me to say today...
Except Happy Mother Freakin' Birthday brother J!'...
This kid just wants to see you happy...

Well you might have expected a bit more from me...
Writing everything that I think and see...
But this poem isn't really about me, you see?
Right now, it is all about you...

So just unwind, relax, and forget about time...
For these years, we will never be able to rewind...
Forget about the taxes on our snapped synapses...
And indulge in the things that relax us...

So just enjoy this day of the celebration of your special birth...
And accept these facts, for they are written truth...
Girlygirl said it very well, this corner is better because of you...
In your heart, you know damn well it's true. ......

Spilled Ink

You sleep in the darkness,
you with the back I love
and the gift of sleeping
through my noisy nights of poetry.
~
I have taken other men into my thoughts
since I met you.
~
But only you sleep on through the darkness
like a mountain where my house is planted,
like a rock on which my temple stands,
like a great dictionary holding every word-

even some
I have never spoken.
~
You breathe.
The pages of your dreams are riffled
by the winds of my writing.
The pillow creases your cheek
as I cover pages.
~
Element in which I swim
or fly
silent muse, backbone, companion-
it is unfashionable
to confess to commitment-
yet I feel no bondage
in this air we share.

LOVE EVERYBODY TRUST NO ONE

Quadri Oyedeji, Nigeria

Poem

LOVE EVERYBODY TRUST NO ONE

As I plan for myself, I plan for friend -
The friend I love is the one I trust,
I trust a friend and I plan for his success,
Whatever he plans is now my focus,
I forgot to love but not to trust-
He plans for me, but that in my present,
As he eye my absence he started to backbite,
He advice me to be a victim of life,
He set me up by giving me a Gold,
The gold he gave is trap to destroy,
He murdered my body but not my spirit,
My body became the enemy of my spirit,
My plan for Gold is turning to futile,
I pray to my God to path me to way,
I ask my friend to become my counselor,
As he counsel me am now in happy mood -
As I go on is way, it destroy my life,
I pray to God again to leg me to path,
As I pray I remember something -
.... the word of elder is word of God...
I quickly ran to repair my clothe,
I repair my Clothe not to walk in naked,
I run to my mother to put me to way,
She advises to love but not to trust,
She instruct to help but not too much,
I remember a word that I used to hear,
... whatever clothe the young may possess -
He/she cannot outmatch the elders in the ownership of rag..
I thank my mum and take to advice,
My teared clothe is now being repaired,
I am now praying to succeed with my Gold -
I also pray for mum to be a success-story of heaven/earth,
..... Love everybody but trust no one.........

The tavern of ghosts part 2

I get up out of my booth of solitude and walk towards the door
walking slowly to see if anyone responds
suddenly the room gets silent
no whispers
no looks
just the simple silence of the air
I open the door slowly
still silence
looking out into the city i see nothing
no people
no one
as i step out into the street i begin a long journey
my jourbey to nowhere

The tavern of ghosts

As I sit in the corner of my thoughts
at the empty booth in an abandoned tavern,
watching ghosts as they float past
no one looks in the shadow.
I tap my pen on the table.
over and over
yet none hear my anxious tapping.
I look inquisitively at the spirits of my past
they carry on like nothings changed
they laugh and smile at eachother
yet all can see right through them
I stand and shout out
only to fall back unoticed
then i put things into perspective
and see that things are quite different
I am the ghost
the quiet entity
what once was a reality
is now but the torture of my fantasy

Bridge Over Troubled Water

If at any time in your life
you feel the desire and the
need for someone to be
a source of comfort and a
friend in all situations

I'm always around for you
sailing on the waters of life
right through the darkest hour just
behind you in fair or foul weather

Like a log on the river banks I will be
a path across for you just like a
bridge stretched from bank to bank
over the raging turbulent river
troubled by the wind churning the
water into a mass of liquid fury

I am right there at your side and
will always be there for you to
ease all your burdens and
your fears and to comfort your
mind to peace and tranquillity

Life as we know it

Life is so precious as is gold
Make things happen as we get old

All I have left is Love to share
Problem is with who and where

Respect and fairness is all I ask
But for most an impossible task

Don't believe in reincarnation or fate
I've only discovered arguing and hate

When it is time to give I want to be there
I could only be an asset and really do care

My Heart is open I hope yours is too
Happiness always is when I Love you

If I don't feel I'm wanted I gladly leave on my own
Continuing my search for the Kingdom and Throne

Message to Dan Rather

One can only be faithful
to those whom require faith,
for faithfulness is shared,
one, willing to offer,
the other to receive.

Hence, the act of faith is not abstract
it is motion:
I am faithful,
you trust in my faith,
equal parts to the measure.

I pause:

I do not trust Dan Rather,
no, that is not true.
I do not trust the man
who chooses the words
that Dan Rather reads
while acting impassioned
while thinking of scotch.

Peter Jennings I trust.

Passionate people are never balanced,
balance people are never passionate,
why are not people passionate about being balanced?

Passionate people can be found in
battlefields, churches, prisons,
and rutting in beds.

Balanced people can be found in
bookstores, libraries, symphonies,
and rutting in beds.

Perhaps they are not so different.

The wolf kills its prey without remorse
tearing the sodden meat from the bone
unaware of the life that has ended.

I buy my meat in sterilized Styrofoam
removing the soaker pad from the back,
unaware of the life that has ended.

I think the wolf is more honest than I.

Jung believed you and I are connected,
that our collective consciousness is as one,
I bet you don't know what I am thinking now,
Freud believes I just want to screw you,
Hmm

The wolf just wants to eat you,
Hmm

We are all Dan Rather,
saying what we believe the script to be,
carefully wrapping our passions
in sterilized Styrofoam
while the wolf within salivates.

Just once I want to see
Dan Rather stare thoughtfully
into the camera
and passionately proclaim
"screw you"

How I would smile….

A Sonnet to friendship.

Friendship shall halt the power of time,
like boyhood days that seem not to fade
amidst those long lost spheres sublime,
when, to unforgiving time we joyous played,
rare such virtue true, slumbering sweet
with thoughts more rich than gold,
its voice unknown to thunders roll, entreat
the heart that ne'er grows old,
united, bonds mutual strength, thus found
a hallowed ground, much blessed, heroic deep,
harvest sweet unspoken words profound,
where love's silent voice its honest tokens keep,

friendship gilds the value of each weary day,
annulling, all life's stormy paths away.

About this poem:
To have a true Lady friend, is often subjected to ill founded thoughts, thus this sonnet is written to such a special Lady, the passage of years have not tainted one iota of the close bond we share.
