Always My Friend

Always My Friend

Written in Memory of Stacey V. Bell

We were friends before we were together

Who could've predicted that

Our friendship was meant to last forever

We made memories, both good and bad

that Saturday when I heard the news

I suddenly felt alone and sad

We had times that we laughed

We had times that we cried

If I said I'm not going to miss you

That would be a lie

These bittersweet memories

That you and I shared

I will always treasure them

I will ALWAYS care

But, you are in heaven now

I trust in safe arms you have arrived

Still, Nothing can replace

This Friendship I've been deprived

With all my heart, I do sincerely pray

That God is holding your hand, as you find your way....................

Friends! :)

Just before we took that final leap,
From childhood into something else,
We once again called a truce.

As the days and weeks go by,
So few, I find, are what they seemed.
But you, I know,
I wish to keep close to me.

There've been many years and changes,
Yet, somehow we've made it though.
Always friends!!!!

notes on a woman

you know the summer's fading.. and the night is getting cold.. there's an east wind in the harbour.. and lord knows I'm getting old.. and my work it takes me everywhere.. and nowhere fast and slow..

it takes a man to plough an acre.. it takes a woman to make it grow

there's an orchard in the south field.. there's a herd of cattle too.. there's an empty chair that held you.. a rare creature tall and true.. and I dream about you always.. even nights that I don't dream..

it takes a man to set a plough right.. it takes a woman to hitch a team

more a fighter than a lover.. girl you picked me anyway.. and you tried to change my dress sense.. but you knew I wouldn't play.. and you laughed at my cowboy movies.. as I turned in to my old man..

it takes a man to work his heart out.. it takes a woman to give a damn

you know we never did much talkin'.. jesus girl you were unique.. and I'm sorry for taking the lord's name.. every other time I speak.. see they don't make girl's like you no more.. at least it seems that way..

it takes a man to save a harvest.. it takes a woman to save the day

well you know I'm big an awkward.. and as rough as a badger's a**.. I got two eyes that scare the locals.. and sometimes my talk is crass.. but I know each lock is different.. as unique as a key..

it takes a man to bring his story.. it takes a woman to set him free

Time Traveler

Cast off these lines have almost broken me
Making my body shudder with each wave
Letting me leave my safe harbor and flee
Myself of bonds never meant to enslave

Such as my spirit goes before me flies
Leaves an anchorage casts mooring aside
Riding silver wings overhead in skies
Soaring so highly and outstretched will glide

Past limits once held and checked in balance
Just for the sake of gravity I fear
Flying in the sunsets golden valance
Traveling in time makes great distance near

So at last we can meet and exchange smiles
Forgetting for now…. all the miles and miles

MEET AND GREET

Apprehensive are some, yet excited too
Children eager to start, they wait on cue
Always a buzz, of chatter and laughter
Wary of outcome, like needing a partner

Dancing classes for children, adults too
Last minute change of minds, effect a few
Rarely girls, but boys seemed to hover
And many adults, will suddenly 'not bother'

Yet making an entrance, into a large hall
Even harder when empty, than noisy-and-full
Is the worry of adults, not children who rush
Soaking up the instruction, not making a fuss

Although some stumble, with two left feet
If they make second class, it'll be a treat
Though some very slowly, become hooked
By the time a new class starts, they're booked

A place to meet others, much more than a club
Exercise for adults, different from a gym or pub
Girls and ladies, dress as if a special date
Men and boy should arrive tidy, and never late

With many dance styles, both old and new
Plenty of options, though male and boy shortage true
Music the special factor, bringing smiles to the face
For those starting the process, you'll need time and place

I Am Your Friend

Beneath your tough, independent, exterior I sense a fearful, tender, man
Behind the mask that you wear, through your eyes i get a glimpse of your pain

From your transference, the harsh words you sometimes say and in your silence too, I become mindful of the depth of the sorrow you keep safely locked away, choose not to reveal
I am made aware of your wounded sensitive soul, of your fragile spirit,
your broken heart and the scars that need to be nurtured and to heal

I wish you every happiness.
For i am your friend, not your foe !
My words of comfort are considerate, they are true
and it is from a place of sincerity they flow

I really care, I have your back...
I want you to succeed, i want you to excel !
I hope with time, your belief in people, will come to grow
I wish you all the very best, both now and for the future
And trust that your faith and love, in others...you’ll once again bestow.

POSITIVE and NEGATIVE.

To stand, looking out to sea
Gusts of wind, engulf me
Refreshing soul, so I feel
Fresh-vital, sadness peel

Some people have a way
Taking happiness, drain away
When others, force a smile
To lift us gently, even if miles

separate us, we'll always feel
They're close, their strength seals
Our being, making us strong
Those special people, we all long

My Friend Karinya

This is a tribute to my dear friend Karinya, I met her when I was in hospital, she is no ordinary girl, she is something very special to me, she put up with me when I first arrived, I was not the most agreeable person at that time after being shunted from one hospital to another, I found we shared a lot in common especially the passion of music which started our friendship, Karinya was a nurse and I, a very sick patient, it was the fact I had lost a leg due to diabetes, I was struggling, however Karinya was very good at what she did, showered me and took care of me, she would occasionally put the cold shower on me and make me jump, but that did not stop me at all, I got my moment when she copped a face full of tap water, she took it rather well, she would get me out of the hospital bed when I had just woken up then practically ordered me into the shower, I was helpless with only one leg, she is a loose cannon and so am I which made for a lot of fun and games, she would tell me of her escapades in her night clubbing, apparently she liked drinking but had no clue when to stop she had many a wild party as well as going concerts, she made me laugh, I had been in the hospital for nearly eight months when I finally was released, I went through a lot of pain and suffering but it was Karinya that kept me positive, alas when I left she was not present, though I wrote her a final letter saying goodbye, well maybe this is the final time I will see her, then again maybe we will meet in the future, heaven only knows, she will always remain my dearest friend forever,God bless you Karinya and lots of love to you.

I'm Back

Not really a poem (although just to say)
Your top Aussie poet is now back today.

Now three weeks offline, has been long enough
(My old laptop crashed - indeed it was stuffed).

I did all I could to fix the old thing;-
Tried this and that, and repairs on the wing.

Wasted three days and four nights on repairs
But the old girl was gone - it seemed no one cared.

So I bought a fresh laptop - a great new device
And set the thing up for some more CS spice.

And to be honest - how could I keep away?
When it's part of my life to write a poem a day.

And if not one a day, then one a week
To all CS poets - you make my life complete.

JUST THAT KIND OF GIRL

When the path you're on,
Seems to remain the same,
Just take the next turn,
And you will begin to see a change,

When clouds of darkness,
Start to roll in,
Please realize you can,
Truly begin again,

I know your painful past,
Keeps trying to hang on,
Too alone, too scared, No will to move on,

But never yield to fear,
The pain and the tears,
You're in the here and now,
You can't roll back the years,

So, wipe away those tears,
From your soft weary eyes,
Hold your head up,
Keep your eyes to the skies,

And you will rise,
Above your stormy gray world,
You know deep in your heart you're,
Just That Kind Of Girl.
