Worthy Words
through my head;
I cannot sleep
why go to bed.
I slipped and took
a zzz or two,
but my thoughts had
remained on you...
a pleasant way to
spend my time
with you and words of
special rhyme.
Hand Out
we all do surely know
but friendships shared
have, too, a gentle
ebb and flow
When you are down,
above with spirits high
someone may well be seen
but also beneath can be found
a friend with their deep sigh
Spirits rise, spirits fall
as day to day we go
Just look around
we are always here
of this our lives do show
Shoulder-to-shoulder
footsteps help track time
sharing laughs and tears
some walk with us, both
under clouds and in sunshine.
In any direction is
a friend to reach, no doubt
Remember, then, when spirits flag
to give, grab life and hope
Just stretch your hand out.

My Friend
Not all that touch you
You my friend have touched me deep
A stirring in my soul
When I'm down and misery hits
You are the one I count on
A cheerful smile, encouraging word
And soon I'm feeling better
When I'm wrong and really mess up
You are there to support me
Never once do you criticise
A sign of true friendship
So when I lay late at night
Staring at the ceiling
My thanks I give to the Lord
For sending me your friendship

This was written with the thought in mind how nice it would be to have a friend like that
Value of Smiles
TELL ME WHY
It’s that lady from far that’s been treated unfair.
See, in mountains your paths weren’t trodden enough,
And your poems piled up: it’s been long since you shared.
It’s just heart’s outcry, it’s two bosoms half-bared,
Many things left undone half-suspended in air.
Write a line, be so kind, don’t you grudge her a favor,
She won’t mind so much slight and will bear as much,
And won’t read between lines seeing things you don’t care,
Knowing well where to stop, what to ask.
About this poem:
It’s about how we often fail to show proper respect for persons we correspond with, first getting to know each other and then stopping to communicate altogether for no particular reason. We fail to show kindness in writing a farewell letter and explaining in plain words the reason why we make this or that choice. It takes so little time and effort to be kind to a stranger. If we fail in this and treat strangers in such despicable way we fail in major things either, such as love, friendship, etc. and we deserve all the disappointments we have. No reference to anyone in particular, just a general observation.Senryu?
