How about CS outing the thumber? Under the icon ( ) “FTAHRRD, 0935”, for example. They get to know who they’re dissing, it’s only fair they are exposed in return.
Hi— I was interested in what you said about “ thumbs”. I guess you’re right, but it also annoys me, too....we’ve probably been caged in too long! Here’s my theory of why it’s aggravating: so, we participate or begin a friendly enough thread, and for no apparent reason, there’s a, or some, negatives (thumbs down). It’s equivalent to being rudely interrupted, which no one likes. It’s just that the ‘canvas’ is digital, not brick and mortar. When I was a very small boy, my grandmother read me a story called “Little Miss T’isn’t”; about a girl who was contrary to everyone. It’s the same principal. The people who “thumbs down” are deliberately trying to invalidate the writer, often for no other reason than to be disruptive. Such deliberate discourtesy IS noticed and IS very annoying. (It is because it is MEANT to be mean that is the greater discourtesy.)
For years differing Christian denominations have argued about whether we immediately go to Heaven after taking our last breath, or whether we “sleep in the grave” for eons until such time. And, it’s all about where to put the comma!...On the cross, Christ is asked by one of the thieves if He will please remember him. Jesus responds, “ verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in Paradise”. Naysayers claim the punctuation is “off”, and it should read, “verily I say unto thee today, thou shalt be with me in Paradise”. Thus, changing the meaning. Attorneys go over legal documents with a fine toothed comb looking for such pesky punctuation...btw.
I guess that’s essentially true. This kind of forum can become a sort of “ safe canvas” for many; allowing people to get their stories and experiences off their chests while largely staying anonymous. Yes, people remember things that were said, and sometimes try to use it in future arguments. Kind of lame, actually, as educated, thoughtful people know that it’s all a process, and we all ebb and flow, as the tide.
“Do I contradict myself? Very well, I contradict myself. I am large.” W. Whitman
Its sometimes difficult for people to grasp this, but resting BEFORE you lie down to sleep is considered to be very therapeutic. It’s sort of getting your body ready for sleep, some light stretching helps. Tense bones and muscles take time to relax; you can help it through the process. I also believe routine is good. Whether to take a warm bath or shower before bed is still disputed— some doctors believe it arouses the body too much ( no.. ) others believe it relaxes. I’ve had both results; depends on the circumstances. Ultimately, try not to have life’s problems at the front— falling off to sleep is near impossible with a troubled mind.
If you witness a hostile parent being mean (so obvious no one would argue) to a little child, are you guilty of not minding your own business if you try to stop/ prevent it? Gosh, the more I read this thread topic, the more holes in the possible answers I see. The crowd trying to stop Derek Chauvin were told “to mind their own business”. Were they? This situation has many ifs, ands, but’s, and therefores.
problem, for sure. My biggest turn- off is decayed, narly teeth— but feet are a close second. I admit I’ve had chronic problems with my own feet, but after retiring it improved..( not on them, all day long). There is much that can be done; soaking in hot water, maybe with Epsom salts or Johnson’s foot bath, every night. HUGE medical hint from a former nurse/pharmacy tech: the people who live in tropical areas who either go shoeless or just minimal, have far FEWER foot problems. Having your feet bound in cloth, then covered in leather or canvas for 10-12 hours a day is NOT natural, and therefore the body reacts by superfluous diaphoreses, developing a perfect nesting ground for negative flora and fauna on the feet, between the toes, etc...I honestly believe it’s a wonder lay people don’t figure this out— think about it: if you wrapped your hands in cloth, then covered them with gloves, all day long, what do you think they’d look like at the end of a ten hour day? End of story...take the hint stinky feet people...
I made bread pudding from scratch yesterday. It turned out perfect. Do you know it should be served warm, with french vanilla ice cream? I like flan, too. Did you have the caramel glaze over it?
You do know I was being facetious, don’t you? Kids only get to be kids once. Let them have their stories and fantasies. I believe being so literal about the fairy tales is just nuts...it’s like, everything in the world can be found to have drawbacks if you dig enough. PS..glad you had a quality time with the kids
So, as soon as a children can stand, march them into the kitchen and have them do all the cleaning they can reach, floor- scrubbing included. Keep them busy, at actual work, all day long. Yell at them. Bark like a deranged sergeant. Show no weakness for humanity. No television, no play- time. Adamantly discourage any reading other than text- books and biographies. Christmas and birthdays are out the window, too, Halloween, for sure. Be strict. Wipe out the silly notion of laughter and mirth. You’re only setting them up for terrible disappointment if you let them have any creative fun. Fun? What utter nonsense, in this evolving world of negativity and violence. No time like the present, right? Get them up and constantly moving. There is no time for anything fine, or comforting, or lovely. You’ll only be hurting them if you give them any lee-way. They’re going to have to learn to live in this cesspool, so get them started. Right?
Thats funny—- hard to believe. A local Portland grocery store’s ad in the newspaper had brilliant full, open peaches ( looked like you-know-what) with the bold letter caption, which left out an important vowel..)*
“Can you believe these velvet beauties? Eight count * to a customer”.
It ran all week, then the store and paper printed a “ we sincerely regret this typographical error”.
It’s not isolated to one gender. Many people are just restless; wanting change frequently. Much of the art of living/adulthood is knowing when you’ve got it good; being content, grateful. For example, I really want a truck and camper, truck first, of course. I can do this— but my current car is ever- durable, paid for, and good looking/ comfortable...I’ve learned to be very content with it. The truck/ camper would severely stress my budget, and I don’t “ need” it. People jump around from job to job, often regretting having left a job they can’t retrieve. Or move, and wish to hell they hadn’t. Learn to be content. Trade in that Cartier hat and clutch for a book of stamps and a pallet of toilet paper be smart...
It was unclear where your meaning was going...but thanks for clarifying. So, tell me about the value of therapy/ talking with other human beings...I agree this is healing, or at least steps in the right direction, so certainly not in denial here. How about washing a few dirty dishes while talking with a trusted friend while boiling water for chamomile tea? Sounds like a winner to me—-what’s that Streisand song—“People who need people are the luckiest people...” since you said I could talk to you— let me tell you how I feel about something— you seem to get after me when you don’t need to be getting after me— we are on the same page much of the time. You are confusing me at times...I don’t get it.
So, are you saying that you want other people’s input, but if it isn’t exactly how you think, they’re in denial? Why ask for input if you’ve already decided? It’s like you’re saying, “ Please tell me what you think, so I can tell you you’re wrong..” Has it occurred to you that maybe YOU are in denial, instead? Does that sound nice? Get it?
Where is the denial here? You are not making sense. Do you mean that ( some) anxiety sufferers need chemical adjustment/medication? Sure, that’s true. Please explain, however, why you said what you did— thanks.
Since at least the early 2000’s, anxiety is on the rise. Slow down, world...I’m completely confident in saying this, cat, these problems are caused by people going too fast. Period. Haste makes waste. Be patient-or be one. If you’re in a hurry, you’re doing it wrong. Measure twice, cut once. Triple- check that medication BEFORE you dispense it. Read the whole document before you date and sign it. Look both ways. It’s all back to slowing down. For real.
Disclaimer— the following is not intended to be “ medical advice”:
When that “aura” of anxiety rears, slowly go and do a few simple, relatively normal tasks, such as washing a few dirty dishes by hand, taking the wash to the machine, heat some water and make chamomile or other herb tea...purposefully relax. This seems to be very helpful for some people.
Well, HI THERE!! Haven’t seen you or heard from you for awhile...Don’t you know you’re my hero? Don’t you know you’re the wind beneath my wings? I’ll be your friend forevermore—for sure.. SO good to see you this evening.
At this minute, regular gas here in Coos Bay, is $3.35 (average) a U.S. gallon. This morning I saw the “ gas lines” across the country on TV news— I’m frugal with driving, but will completely fill up in the morning...just in case.
RE: Hiding the truth...
I didn’t think you could do this on your own posts— found out you, indeed, can...
