I find this thread quite interesting in that I haven't seen a single practical argument for any scenario. The German people pay very high taxes compared with ourselves and have a lower standard of living. I'd be curious to hear about their welfare, health and educational systems before I decided.
The UK speak the same language, drive on the same side of the road, are our greatest trading partners in the EU, have a health service free at the point of use including GPs and in Scotland and Wales, prescriptions and free education system including books.
I think I know who I'd choose but it's academic. Germany are running us now and for the foreseeable future. I think that was obvious long before the demise of the tiger when we had to vote twice on Lisbon and Niece.
I live in a small town. It's just the right size to know people to say hello to in the shopping centre but big enough to maintain your privacy. And Ennis is 15 minutes one way and Limerick 15 minutes the other. From my house I can walk to the Shannon Estuary in about 3 minutes. I'm happy enough.
I think you need another revolution to introduce a proper republic! The last time, you just seemed to get a new set of masters who were just as unhealthy and self centred as the crowd ye put out. Imagine living in a country where no means no and not let's keep voting till we get the outcome we want.
If FF had been the ruling party in France, Cowen and Co would be hanging from lamp posts in the Champs Elysees!
Burning White Sage does it for me, the smell of a forest just after the rain and the smell of the sea. I suspect there's more to you than meets the eye jaq!
Water is not free. It's paid for out of general taxation. This is an added tax. So we are going to be taxed twice for water. I must admit though, how are you supposed to survive without a septic tank and what happens if you don't pay. Do they seal up your toilet door?
Normally D I'd agree with you but I feel passionately that the protection of children has to come first. Adults can fight their own battles. There's a wee bit of politics getting played here I feel!
