I may not agree with you on everything but there have always been Happy Birthday wishes posted on here often up to a week before the event. I fail to see why people should find fault with this. You shouldn't let them take the goodness out of your intentions. It takes the colour out of life like these people who are doing there damdest to remove the word Christmas from western culture and I'm not a Christian.

It's very hard losing a parent. Life will seem quite lonely and daunting for a while. I wish you the serenity and peace of mind to do the things you have to do these next few days.

I've read through this thread and I'm left wondering if those of higher moral stature than myself who think the Olympics should be cancelled and the money diverted to find a cure for cancer would actually stop their own unnecessary expenditure: dish washer, washing machine, tv, CD player, lap top, car....the list goes on...and donate the money to cancer care.

Surely charity begins at home. I personally make a monthly donation to a charity and that is my choice. I have no problem with corporate donations to support the Olympics which I effectively pay by my purchases of their products.

This world is very fragile just now and consantly seems to be on the edge of darkness with one nation pitted against another and war never seeming too far away. Surely a few million, a drop in the ocean of International finance, was well worth spending to create an air of harmony and cooperation between different countries and cultures.

10,000 people volunteered their time to give us the joy of the opening night and for that I thank them. That's why the UK's opening ceremony cost 1/3 of the one in China.

There seems to be an awful lot of begrudgey about these games already both on here and on the likes of Fox News. Frankly I find it mean spirited.

That's a pity. If you were closer, I'd do it for you and teach you computer basics 101. PCs of any brand are vulnerable at the best of times. If a car was as unreliable as a pc, we'd all go back to using horses. That's what happens when technology races to market. I'm told if you can be bothered, that the Apple system is much much better but sadly, much more expensive.

I have a Dell laptop and am using AVAST free. It seems OK. But once a year I wipe my hard drive and reinstall everything. I copy all my pics, docs etc to an external hard drive first. Takes a few hours but it's usually worth it and you know you're starting with a clean sheet.
