RE: FUTURE OF THE EURO

I think it's just occurred to Frau Merkle that not even she is now in control of this. I suspect more money is actually lent out in the world than actually exists. How can one nation shoulder every other nation. Am I the only one who sees the impossibility of the situation. Masses of debts will need to be written off. Until lenders accept this, none of us are going anywhere. dunno

RE: Childhood crushes?

Ah, you're right but you should be ashamed. I'm proud that I don't remember Alan, Merril, Wayne,Jay Donnie, Jimmy or Marie Osmond's names at all, or that they were Mormons or the Donnie's favorite colour was purple. Jaysus, no wonder all the guys at school thought I was gay. (A poof as it was called then). Then again, they were all into Gary Glitter and Leader of the Gang or Rock and Roll Part 2. Who's laughing now?

RE: FUTURE OF THE EURO

Only really 2 options here. 1. A federalised Euro zone so exchange rates can be adjusted the same way a country can do with its own currency. 2. The Euro is got rid of all together and we go back to single state ecconomies and control our own exchange rates. I suspect the latter will be the case as all nations have different ways of doing things. We can't expect Germany to be the same as Italy and Italy to be the same as Greece and Greece to be the same as Spain and Ireland.

RE: Childhood crushes?

Still crazy after all these years. laugh

RE: Childhood crushes?

Sadly, Marie Osmond still does not know that I exist. sigh

RE: why GOD allows human suffering

So let me get this right....This infinite being you speak of, felt the need to create beings, namely you and me, just to worship him and feed some need that he is lacking in himself. Is he insecure.....or are you creating your God in your own image?

Orange

In addition to a volatile oil (1–2.5%), bitter orange peel contains appreciable quantities of neohesperidin (up to ca. 14% in unripe peel, usually 2.4–2.8% in ripe peel), naringin (0.9–4%), rhoifolin, lonicerin, hesperidin, and other polymethoxyflavonoids (tangeretin, nobiletin, sinensetin, auranetin, rutin, etc.); vitamins (A, B1, and C); coumarins (e.g., 6,7-dimethoxycoumarin and umbelliferone); carotenoid pigments (citraurin, violaxanthin, and cryptoxanthin); pectin, citrantin; and others. High levels of the alkaloid synephrine (six isomers) are also present in bitter orange peel.

The volatile oil (bitter orange oil) contains more than 90% monoterpenes (main d-limonene, also myrcene, campherr pinene, ocimene, p-cymene, etc.); small amounts of alcohols (linalool, terpinene nerol, farnesol, nerolidol, octanol, etc. usually 0.5–1% aldehydes (mainly decanal also nonanal, dodecanal, citronellal, neral acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, etc.), and ketones (carvone, a-ionone, and jasmine); free acids (octadecadienoic, pelargonic, cinnamic, acetic, etc.); about 2.4% esters (linalyl acetate, decyl pelargonate, octyl acetate, geranyl acetate, etc.); coumarins (osthole and auraptenol); and others.

Neroli oil is reported to contain linalool (ca. 34%); linalyl acetate (6–17%), limonene (15%), ß-pinene (11%), nerolidol (6%), geraniol, nerol, methyl anthranilate; indole, and jasmone as well a small amounts of other compounds including citral, nonanal, cis-8-heptadecene, 2,5- dimethyl-2-vinyl-4-hexenal, neryl acetate, and valeric acid, among others.

Petitgrain oil contains large amounts of esters (40–80%, depending on sources; composed mainly of linalyl acetate, with lesser quantity of geranyl acetate). Other compounds present include linalool, nerol, a-terpineol, geraniol, nerolidol, farnesol, and limonene.

RE: Would a world without religion be a better place???

RE: Would a world without religion be a better place???

I find it interesting that religious people don't believe that others would choose to behave in the correct fashion without the threat of eternal damnation from a God who is supposed to be loving.

I find it just as interesting, looking at the world and the way it behaves, that they think people are even paying attention to them.

Perhaps more people should be practising their religions rather than preaching them and sitting in judgement of the rest of us. conversing

RE: What do you think will happen when the Mayan calender ends on December 21 2012

I'll probably regret shopping early for Christmas. sigh

RE: another mass shooting

It only seems that way. Remember we had 2 world wars in the last century. I'm afraid humanity has always been steeped in violence and it's often government endorsed.conversing

RE: God's One for Me

OK...a couple of things: I have a Higher Power but she doesn't do retribution or judgement much though I'd like her too....I'm the one who does the judging and would be only too happy to see the retribution. Secondly, for every spiritually sick man out there, there is a spiritually sick woman. Just the law of probabilities. And I'm sure I don't have to lecture you about what direction you should be looking in when it comes to co-dependency. comfort

RE: Just want to share a beautiful piece of music that I can't get out of my head....

I believe Maria Callas, never sang this live but only in a recording studio. It's been known to bring a tear to my eye though I have no idea what she's singing about.

RE: Do you believe that voting for politicians really makes a difference?

I think the point is that none of them are competent or deserving. It's no longer a threat tat they will be voted out of office, as one term is enough to guarantee them a substantial lump sum and pension to ease them through their lives. Anyone who believes that politicians are interested than any one other than themselves is, in my mind, naive.conversing

RE: Deep Purples Jonathan Douglas "Jon" Lord D.M. (9 June 1941 – 16 July 2012) R.I.P

Always loved the keyboards on this, especially the instrumental in the middle with the old Hammond.

Did ya know that keyboard players are the only ones in the band who need classical training? I'm told there's basic rules that apply to keyboards that cover the whole musical spectrum unlike guitar, bass etc. Jon it seems would have been just as at home with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra as with Blackmore and Purple. dancing

Ah, we're entitled to a few more days of his time. The afterlife has him for eternity. And as a bonus, he's brought back a few of the oldies which fills me with warmth. purple heart

RE: GOOD BYE JEEEPERS (I will always love you)

I just came back to offer my condolences to Jeeper's family and friends...all those who were close to him. He and I only occasionally met on the forums so I wouldn't have been too personally involved with his life but like myself he had been on here a long long time.

I do know he was liked and respected by many on here and in all that time, I never once saw Jeepers post in anger and I would say he personified the way this site once was when we were all a lot closer and all had a lot more respect for each other. I apologise to more recent members. I don't mean to exclude you or infer that your contributions on here are less valuable but for a few of us, there was a sort of golden age on CS.

I remember a tinge of jealousy as he would report the start of his day in The Virgin Islands as I stared out the window at a bleak Irish winter.

Most of us never even knew he was ill; a measure of the man he was and the way he conducted himself.

Goodbye and Godbless Jeepers. You will be missed. sad flower

Time To Go!

To my friends.....See you on FB. There was a time when this place rocked. I was 45 when I came here. I'm 51 now.

Cheers everybody
