Is Anybody Using Google Chrome?

When I open my google chrome on a second tab I get an advert directing me to the google store. I used to get a display of my previous and most used sites which I liked. Does anyone know if I can change this back. If I had a contact for google chrome, I'd mail them and tell them how pissed off I was with them.

RE: So... ur saturday night....

Going to bed soon. Working at 4 am...well at least I have another hour in bed this week. sigh

RE: Remember to put your clocks back tonight

What can I say. I'm a railway nut with the Discovery Channel. This says it better.

RE: Remember to put your clocks back tonight

OK. Noon is defined as when the sun is directly overhead prior to the railways and that is dependant on your location. Before industrialisation, people could only regulate themselves by daylight. There was no way of instant communication over distance. They got up at dawn and went to bed at dusk. London time would be no use in Dublin and vice versa.

Before the railways, it took so long to travel anywhere either by horse, carriage or walking, there was no need to standardise time for transport. This was like flying to a new time zone at the time.

When they started scheduling trains, there was a need for accurate timing. So the train leaving Kings Cross at 4 pm GMT could be scheduled as arriving at say Glasgow 8 hours later at 12 pm GMT and not 1.30 AM local time. You couldn't have multiple trains on the lines or have timetables until the time was standardised. People just didn't travel outside their counties prior to the railways. Just think how hard it would be to travel from Dublin to Galway 200 years ago and how long it would take. |An hour here or there wouldn't be important.

If you put it in a glass of water in the freezer, it will solve your problem!professor

It won't change the time but it will never wake you up again. grin

RE: Remember to put your clocks back tonight

OK. Comes from the UK. Firstly, until the railways were invented there was no standardised time. Noon in London would be a different time than Noon in Swansea or Edinburgh. The railways required standardised time with the now speedy form of transport and Grenwich was used as it is 0 longtitude for the world.

The changing the clocks came from children having to walk to school in the dark in the old days in the north west of Scotland before we all had 4 by 4s. Having them start an hour later helped. I think some European countries do this too.

RE: Congratulations Michael D

Very true. What have Michael D, David Norris or Martin McGuinness ever done for our Eurovision hopes? I said early on in the campaign that Johnny Logan should have run for president. We could have sent him to the ECB and the IMF to sing,' What do you do when words are not enough?'grin
