I honestly think we need to find another way. If they go back to the old way, someone down the road will ease off the regulation and it will happen again. One definition of 'insanity,'they say is repeating the same behaviour and expecting a different result.
This can actually cause a lot of trouble in multcultural societies. The role of the Prince of Wales in the UK also included the title, 'Defender of the Faith,' the faith being according to the Anglican Church which is headed by the monarch. I remember there was talk of chnging it to 'Defender of Faith' to encompass everybody's beliefs.....but would that account for people with no belief?
Yes but their main trading partners use Euros! In the old days, if the Deutschmark or the Franc or the Guilder collapsed we'd still be trading with other European nations. Now, if one goes, they all go. We might as well join up with you guys as the next US state.....except, your economy is screwed too! There must be someone somewhere who has all the money that we've all borrowed.
I'm starting to thing western democracy is a myth. The German government just voted to contribute billions to a bailout fund that the people are firmly against.
The French and Dutch people voted against a European Constitution so no other nations got to vote and they tagged it onto the Lisbon treaty.
The same Lisbon Treaty was rejected by the Irish voters, the only ones who were constitutionally allowed a vote. So the voted NO! What happened. They were told to vote again till they said yes.
And now this, in the sweet land of liberty: Police behaviour that we would expect in Tiananmen Square in 1989 and not the US on 2011. British people were not allowed to protest on their own soil against a Chinese official visit during the reign of Tony Blair.
Well, We'll soon be wishing each other a Wombling Merry Christmas. Then there were spangles, opal mints (later called pacers, sherbet fountains and Tudor crisps.
