RE: most posted threads

These aren't acurate. According to my profile I have 6819 threads and I don't even get a mention. Other members on the internationals have much more than they are credited with too.

RE: Jockey Wilson RIP

RE: Jockey Wilson RIP

I saw him in the Scottish borders back in the early 80s. An early death was always on the cards for him I'm afraid. Darts was not a health conscious sport back then. conversing

RE: A quote from the Dalai Lama to live by

RE: Who am I?

It's a male and he's been back on here the last few days for the first time in ages using at least 2 other profiles. One male, one female and of course, this new one. That's 5 profiles I can think of just off the top of my head whilst the rest of us have been content with one.

RE: THE DUMBING DOWN OF SOCIETY THROUGH SPORT,RELIGION AND MASS MEDIA

Great thread. I think governments regulate our levels of education through the generations. 200 years ago there was a fair chance your great great grand parents couldn't read or write. Society had no need for them to do so. 80 years ago, our grandparents could just about master turning a knob on a short wave crystal set.

Now, an octogenarian will be sitting with a laptop contributing to this thread and taking calls on their mobile phone. I couldn't concieve my own grandparents knowing how to do this.

So obviously, through the generations, people's intellect has been increased so I would suspect that the converse can be true. If society requires us to be dummed down over a generation or two then it can be done too.

RE: In your lifetime who would get your vote?

I know she's not Irish at all and I know very little of your history apart from the last few years of betrayal by your own politicians but I suppose Mo Mowlam came out of it all a bit of a hero only to be replaced by the crook, Mandleson once all the hard work was done. Then sadly, she died of cancer. Perhaps Brian Lenihan! dunno

RE: We all knew Bertie was a crook. Now it's been proved!

Sadly he has been proven a liar which is not prosecutable and not a con man which is. By tomorrow morning, the tribunal will have been full of liars and Ahern will be innocent. And be honest, ye still affectionately call him Bertie as do the media and secretly quite like the fact he got away with it. conversing

RE: euthanasia

I used to be pro euthenasia but in my lifetime I have met enough greedy people with sociopathic tendencies, including one in my own family, who would quite happily be encouraging someone to leave before their time whilst proclaiming that they were being selfless.

This thing is not as black and white as it first appears. I'm not even considering the religious aspect here. Some say it's playing God but surely going to the doctor in the first place is asking someone to play God.

RE: Wee daniel o donnell..............tool or legend ???????

About 14 years ago, I was staying in a hotel in Bristol as was the bold Daniel. He was playing a concert locally. I was astonished at the female following he had and I don't mean grannies. There were many very hot women following him. Can somebody knit me a nice pullover please? laugh

RE: Potty training new borns ?????? What next

Oddly enough I remember this from my old AP&H classes back in the 80s. A child does not have any conscious control of his or her excretions till 3 years of age. This practice is wrong because it conditions children to excrete via their subconscious mind meaning that as an adult they will have no voluntary sphincter control. They will need the right props in place. Some things are better left to nature. conversing

RE: Back In Time or Time Travel

My understanding is that light does not operate that way. You don't get 3 x 10^8 m/s + 60 mph. You get dopler shift and the light changes frequency (colour) due to wave compression. It will still approach you at the speed of light. Also, for you or me or a particle to travel at the speed of light, we would need to have infinite mass.
