RE: Margaret Thatcher RIP

She was little more than a terrorist herself. I lived under her tyranny. barf

RE: I'll shed no tears

I shall not mourne her. Sadly Cameron and co will probably expect us to sit through a state funeral.

RE: if I keep praying will God heal my relationship?

Why do people confuse God with Santa Clause? Perhaps it is not God's will for this relationship not to work out and that you just aren't listening.

It's a high class problem though. I met a Polish girl yesterday. A single mother of an eight year old boy through no fault of her own who also supports her alcoholic father. She was having her first Chemotherapy session today for breast cancer.

I find praying to heal a relationship somewhat self centred. conversing

RE: would you date someone who already has a child or children?

As long as the kids were born by caesarian. Don't want to be slinging a sausage up a close! grin

RE: North Korea??????

Most of my life I was told that the old Soviet Block was the enemy waiting to kill us all in our beds. Now a Polish girl, a supposed former enemy, shares my bed. There were no major problems with the likes of Korea or the Muslim population. One foe goes and another appears.....but we remain the same.

Seems we in the west need to keep generating enemies.

sigh

RE: Who won the "Space Race?"

I'd say Germany. German scientists working for the USA or German scientists working for the old USSR. The USSR were the first to put a man in space and the first to have a manned space station. The USA were obviously the first to put a man on the moon so I'd say it's pretty even. Nowadays, many countries are in the business of launching satellites.

But without the research and experimentation done at Peenemunde by Werner Von Braun and others for Germany, we would probably have not yet left the planet and be watching 4 channels on the tv. conversing

RE: marriage,,,, how long is "normal" courting time before proposing?

Yes. The operative word in most of these posts is 'EX.' Perhaps we are not best suited to answer this question. laugh

Yes but Gmail sends them straight to my spam folder thankfully. conversing

RE: Great Britian Gone Bad!

Which old Britain do you consider to be Great Britain. I remember plenty squalor in the past. Remember Maggie's millions in the 80s when we had 4 million unemployed and every city had huge council housing schemes. Do you remember manufacturing industry or the mines being shaut down or the minor's strike? What about the shipyard heroes of the Clyde and the Tyne. Probably not important when you live in Switzerland. You seem to have a typical middle class jaundiced view. When was this Great Britain you talk of and just who paid for it? confused

RE: is the God the life?

Which God are we talking about? dunno

RE: immersion help pleeease

Got the oil thing when I re read it. Mine ran out at the beginning of February so I understand your frustration. Thank God for my coal fire. If only it had a back boiler. sigh

RE: immersion help pleeease

Ah well, I'm fallable. My money's on the switch so. They're pretty high current and burn out easily. And it's the cheapest fix at about 3 euros. Both elements wouldn't burn out as baldy said.dunno

RE: Does CS have a "Chat" feature?

Just the 'chat' on the top bar which takes you to a chat room. The personal 'IM' was disabled a couple of years back when the site was upgraded and the IM seemed to be slowing everything down. conversing

RE: immersion help pleeease

Is there a light on the switch and is it coming on. Check your main fuse box to make sure the breaker hasn't thrown.

RE: immersion help pleeease

I'm a bit confused here. An immersion runs on electricity and not on oil so I don't quite get your post. But it could be the element, the switch or the thermostat. You really need either a plumber or an electrician.

If your oil has run out then you've either used it all heating the house and the water or somebody has stolen it from your tank. This happened to me and now I have a lock on the tank. It's a deterrant but if they wanted to they could drill a hole in the plastic tank I guess but up till now the lock seems to have worked.

RE: "I need my time/space"

I'm actually in this situation at the moment but I don't quite see it the way you do. The lady in my life is a widow and has some confusion with the emotions that has generated. On my part, I have been single a long time and would have a tendency to move too fast. So the only hope of this working is for us to go at her pace. I believe love is about consideration for the other person.

Equally, I'm quite prepared if we are only together for a short time to bring each other along the road of life till our paths move apart again.

I've done the angry, bitter and resentful thing all my life. Now I try to have a bit of gratitude to the few angels who drifted in and out of my life and eased the loneliness for a short time.
