Goes back to the days of girls being made of sugar and spice and all things nice. Boys were told they were made of frogs and snails and puppy dog's tails. Hardly a great start on life's journey. Pinl makes the boys wink and all that!
I don't think there's a hard and fast rule. I think we grow at our own rate and that responsibility comes on us a wee bit at a time. Anything else is just pretending to be grown up. I should know, I've never grown up!
Just watch the accusations fly as the CS vigilanties take over.Witch hunt comes to mind where everyone with a score to settle accuses other people. We've seen that kind of stuff on here before with destructive trolls. That's life I'm afraid and you can't stop people bumping into other deceptive and unpleasant people. And who are any of us to take the high moral ground anyway?
So far today: a battery charger, a set of drills and a small bicycle pump. I had to fight against myself over......an electrical welder, a rechargeable hand lamp for working on the car and a huge rechargeable torch!
Too many to count! I can't even send a text message without the correct spelling, syntax and punctuation. Everything I post on here is run through a spell checker. If I use words like, "Ya," instead of, "You," I feel very uncomfortable.
Whilst driving, I have to use the correct lane and I'm very intolerant of those who do not. Don't even start me on signals except to say,
"People of Ireland, spend the extra €20 and buy the model that comes with indicators."
It depends. If the person who took it out of context, attacked me on a public forum then I would defend myself on a public forum. If they chose the discretion of a private email, then that's the route I would use.
I do this in my real life too. If someone pulls me aside and has a quiet one to one word with me then we sort it out quietly between us. Attack me in public, then the gloves are off!
Oh, and on the topic, yup....I do make judgements on first meeting people and even at one time thought I had a sort of second sight. I'd write people off without a second thought and in the process deprive myself of a potential friendship. Nowadays I'm conscious of this trait.
As for the second sight thing, I was proved to be wrong once too often. The fact is that there are certain parts of my personality that I'm not too comfortable with and I try to hide them both from myself and the rest of the world.
When I run across someone who exhibits these same characteristics, it frightens me and I want to shut them out and that's when I start making all these unfounded judgements. But none of that stuff is part of my thought process. All my head says is either destroy or discredit this person or run away.
Don't be deceived. Many of the people you would regard as extroverts, are at heart deeply shy and nervous. Their way of coping is to unconsciously create an external exuberant personality to keep the world out. You can lose track of who you really are that way.
Your own way of coping is to unconsciously put a wall around yourself and I'm guessing there's times you hate yourself for being that way.
I'll bet if you and Sharina got talking, you'd find that deep down, you're extremely similar.
I can't believe that people are still calling rental dead money. Dead money is paying 2 or 3 times the current value of your house over the next 30 years.
"Dead Money" was one of the many phrases used to con us all into taking on debt.
Houses are for living in, not a form of investment and they never were. As the price of your property rose, so did the one you were going to buy next. Investment suggests a cash profit. There never was one.
Just watching Vincent Brown (Ganley presenting) and I'd say we're screwed. There's no longer any way out. It's taken 90 years to stand up to Rome and now Germany has us by the balls. Oh the temptation to tell one or two folk on here,"I told you so."
The minute they latched the EU Constitution onto the Lisbon Treaty since the French and the Dutch voted against it, I knew they were heading towards a federal Europe.
That's because you live in Dublin and without fail, every time they see another meet being arranged, the Dubs put on one of their own to collide with it. A Dublin meet can be arranged a day before whereas Donegal has to be arranged months in advance. With Dublin being the main population centre people will obviously choose it over Cork or Donegal given a last minute choice. What it is is down right selfishness.
The general opinion of the Dubs who refuse to travel. This screws up meets held anywhere else and as usual this is one getting put between the Donegal and the proposed Cork meet. There have been no meets for ages. Why now I ask myself?
RE: OPINIONS
50 is worse but on the plus side, they keep raising the pension age so we'll all be dead before we get there.Never grow old, never grow old....in a land where we'll never grow old!
