Another way to approach recording is to start with a rough recording (what they call a "temoin" in French) with just the voice plus guitar, (neither of which will actually be heard on the final recording). That way all the pauses, accents, tempo changes, etc. etc. etc. are already present and easy to follow.
The drum and base tracks are laid listening to the "temoin". And then the singer uses the drum and base tracks to record the real voice track and the temoin is discarded before adding the solo instruments.
It allows for doing more complicated songs than would be possible starting with a drumbeat and building upon it.
I like Cakewalk, but I've never used Cubase so I can't compare.
I really don't like the technical side of recording and I always tried to let somebody else take care of that if possible.
One of my groups used a program called Big Boss, and the results were good, and it seemed to be pretty easy to use, but I wasn't actually doing it, so I can't really say much.
I also have an 8 track hard disk recorder that has a lot of neat features, and really great sound, but its a lot more complicated and slower for editing than using cakewalk and the computer.
The photograph must: - be in sharp focus - be clear - have a strong definition between the face and background - be printed professionally - show no shadows - show you facing forwards, looking straight towards the camera - show you wearing a neutral expression
I had a great big tent with 2 big rooms and three attatched bedrooms. But for health reasons it was getting to be too hard to put it up and take it down.
So I bought one of those tents that you just throw into the air and it falls to the ground all ready to stake into place.
You speak of believers "limiting" the creator by giving him a name or depicting his nature in human terms.
Well sadly human terms is all any of us have for such efforts, including yourself.
While it's true that any of our efforts to describe God will always fall short, 'no effort at all' falls even shorter.
Dimensions have their limits.
A two dimensional plane surface cannot accurately describe a 3 dimensional sphere.
Nonetheless a photograph can help people understand what a ball is like, and a map can be pretty useful for navigation on a spherical planet.
Yes there is some distortion, we are looking at God through a blurred telescope, and our minds are not even capable of fully understanding God's form or nature.
But that's why Jesus came.
We cannot see "God" in His natural state, He's too big, too omni-everything.
But we can look at Jesus, God reduced to the dimensions of our understanding.
We learn God's nature metaphorically in observing Christ and hearing his words.
And really Jesus isn't hard to understand at all.
But he can only be truly understood by those who acknowledge that He IS the God we are looking for.
He was penniless, He never travelled more than 50 miles from his birthplace, He was persecuted and even killed as a criminal. And even his followers denied him and fled into hiding.
By all logic, he should have been forgotten from the face of the earth and the memory of mankind.
But instead he had more influence on the world than any other human in history. And now 2000 years later, his words are still powerful, arousing either worship or scorn in whoever hears them. And his birthday is the pivotal date in all human history.
So SF, keep on seeking your unknowable undescribable, mystery god if you choose. I'll stick with Jesus.
The role of the UN security council is to prevent the general assembly from ever being able to accomplish anything that the permanent members don't want.
Personally, through a lot of trial and error, I came to the conclusion that it's best not to waste any time.
If I know there are lies in the air, I confront them right away.
It doesn't have to be a showdown. We've all lied before and the reasons behind the lies it can be complicated. Sometimes people lie because they don't want to hurt people they care about.
But in the end the lies don't help, they just make it worse.
The truth, even when painful, is the most loving thing to do.
¨Pretending to be unaware of a lie that you know about is a lie in itself.
RE: Musicians Wanted
That must be the term.I never did any studio recording in the states.
I learned most of what I know about it here in France.
