For some it might be true but for a good percentage of the folks here, whether single, dating or married, a lot of the folks are here for the forums and keeping up with the friends that they made while on this site.
The forums can be a fun place to get to know others and have fun.
I normally delete all my mail after I respond to someone. Although, I have to admit, it's fun when someone replies back to me and I have to guess at what I wrote the first time...
I think sometimes, its to try and understand their own relationships, whether they are in one or had one that failed. Seeing if others might have had the same problems, successes or triumphs.
To learn to listen is so hard! I sometimes think it one of the hardest things to deal with in a relationship. We get so caught up in our own thoughts and feelings, that we don't actively listen to a partner so that sometimes we hear want we want to hear.
And it is true about seeing the "bigger picture." The ability to step back, to be dispassionate for that moment in time and truly not think of ourselves takes willingness to forget the "me" and concentrate on your partner.
