Really J? You are asking why "they" are not the first to not get paid? Do you honestly think that any one of the congressmen/congresswoman would step up and say: "Because I know so many in my district are suffering, I am going to donate my pay to help my country?" Get real. They are in it for the money, the perks and the ability to screw the little guy.
I try my hardest to treat individuals with some modicum of respect and politeness, (respect being earned~not automatically given).
If I have an issue with an individual, then I try to work it out with that individual and if I cannot resolve it, then I will speak with their manager (in person or via letter or email).
The sad part is we moved back due to a job opportunity that fell through the day we arrived. We work mainly healthcare administration and hospital jobs are usually always available....
For us (my sis and I and roommate), it appears that a move to Kansas might happen. Not the greatest thing but it would mean we are with family and we can all look out for one another....
It's bad enough that most have stopped receiving their unemployment benefits but if they stop SSI and military payments; how many individuals do you think will be forced to go further in debt or move in with others (such as family/friends) in order to just survive?
From what I am reading and my own understanding of the situation, unless Congress pulls its head out of its patootie, then those that receive SS/SSI/SSDI, etc.; will not receive their checks on their scheduled date. This also include military retirement benefits and military pay. I believe that Congress will pull a last-minute "we all agreed and are now buddy-buddy with one another" hat trick and in less than nine months, we will be back at the table arguing and fighting.
Honest or not Raphael, it was crude and inappropriate. If he wanted to say that the President has no "guts" that's cool, I don't have an issue with it but to point out his race and then by a term that is no longer used, that's not so cool. My opinion only.
I think, for me, its because I am not the "girly-type" that men associate with buying flowers and chocolates. I'm more the buy her a drink and shoot pool type of girl.
Then I would hazard a guess that one should be taught active listening skills while young. It is not something that comes intuitively since we can all absorbed in "self" without meaning to.
Active listening, open communication and benevolent intent is hard if one does not want to learn. IMO
