Done with re-read last night, in between reading it, I read "The Help." It was good and now I am re-reading "And Ladies of the Club" by Helen Hooven Santmeyer.....
I think there is being nice and then there is being a doormat. Being nice and caring is a good thing; but letting women (and men) walk all over you is being a doormat.
Let's see....got up, finished some homework, babbled for a bit with family, finished a book, did some research, babbled for a bit online, watched a movie, babbled....the usual
If a constitution is just words, then what can a government be based on? In order for a government to operate for its citizens it has to be based off of something doesn't it? A government has to have a set of written laws to show what it is responsible for and what it is not responsible for or am I off base here?
Millions of individuals rely on charities to help them or others for various reasons, whether or not there is a government program in place.
And while I will apologize for attributing or projecting what I "think" you feel on to you, I will say it is because of the way that your writing is perceived by the individual readers (myself included). I am definitely not trying to belittle you; just trying to keep a discussion going.
Perhaps because tihe people discussing it have such opposite views? Perhaps you've heard the quote, those who do not learn from their failures are destined to repeat them? Britain was once the beacon of a successful democracy, now look at it, You can be held for 30/40 days, can't remember what the length is this year without being told why you are being held or what for or even allowed to notify next of kin. I mean that sounds like the sort of thing the Stazi would do. We are not allowed to protest within one kilometer of Parliament without the express permission of the police and parliament. Liberties aren't taken away in huge chunks they are taken slowly and insidiously, one freedom at a time. What I'm trying to ask is where do you draw the line. Here in the UK we had a girl who lost a leg due to a car accident, she was refused incapacity benefit because she had made a strenuous effort to be 'normal', she had effectively denied herself the support she needed by trying too hard. I'm sure people will congratulate her for being self reliant but that won't pay for prosthetic legs will it? Should she be penalised for not being a 'normal' amputee?
If that is what you were asking, *where do you draw the line*, why do keep going from one extreme to another? It is almost like watching a media ad, trying to gain sympathy from the masses by mentioning all these sad, terrible, horrific atrocities going on and then getting upset with others who don't agree with you.
Not saying it is wrong or right, moral or unmoral, ethical or unethical but if the discussion is supposed to be about governments and *where do you draw the line* why not start at a representational constitution and go from there?
There are many departments, Monte and most are intertwined with one another, if one department was gotten rid of, it would affect other departments....
Um..did you mean each individual person for themselves? Over a certain age? As I am pretty sure that small children and infants cannot care for themselves.....
Sorry Monte, did not see anything else that you posted until now.
My son was deployed to help. Three of my children still live in Alaska, as does my father, aunts, uncle, cousins and many friends. Most are in Anchorage, with few scattered here and there across the state.
I've not heard from my son; I've seen the damage thru different weather sites and it is rough and bad there. I am going on the assumption that since I have not heard from my son that "no news is good news."
If the individual is an alcoholic, the only way the individual will stop drinking is to make the choice for him/her self to stop. There is nothing that will compel the individual to stop unless the individual truly wants to quit.
Not love, not family, not a job, nothing but the individual's own choice....
RE: Round `Em Up, And Tie ´Em......Women Are Cattle....
I tend to just whack them upside the head with it....I can only simulate being nice....
