RE: Has America's current leaders forgotten the basics for which it was founded?

Well that would be difficult to obtain, as there were no requirements for birth certificates then. Births were recorded in family bibles and very rarely on Census Polls. Can you imagine the fun though if someone thought that they had one?laugh

RE: Has America's current leaders forgotten the basics for which it was founded?

His family bible?laugh

RE: Has America's current leaders forgotten the basics for which it was founded?

It was written into the Constitution; love using that document for my college courses!

RE: Has America's current leaders forgotten the basics for which it was founded?

It's written in the Constitution:

Article II, Section I

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

RE: Question of the day

Beautiful romantic thought and one worthy of striving for but impossible to achieve as we all have our versions of what is perfect for us.

RE: Selfishness

I did not say that I was blackmailed with emotion, although I suppose that could have been inferred, I meant that he was trying to use emotional blackmail on others.

Personally, I won't give ground to anyone's temper tantrums and if one wants to be treated fairly and tolerantly by me and shows me the same fairness and tolerance then I will do the same. bouquet

RE: Selfishness

I cannot fathom to guess why this individual did as he did but the end result was a definite temper tantrum and lashing out.

No one can say he is a bad person or born bad but by the same token, we do not need to be held hostage by his negative outbursts and pander to his emotional blackmail.

RE: Selfishness

Tolerance can only go so far. It is one thing to give someone a "break" based on their circumstances, (having a bad day, hurt emotions, etc) but wrong to tolerant a temper tantrum from a grown adult. IMO

RE: Selfishness

One of the last true gentlemen T!hug bouquet

RE: Selfishness

wave Paper written and submitted!yay

I was referring to the meltdown here; it definitely was not a sign or action of being selfish. It was a temper tantrum in the purest sense and an action of a child who is not getting his/her own way. There are no "Kings of the Playground" on CS, we each contribute or don't, according to our likes/dislikes but most don't act out the way that member did. IMO

RE: Selfishness

Sometimes being selfish can be a good thing. What occurred last night apparently was not 'selfishness' but a meltdown.

RE: Relationship

If they are interested in another, then politely tell them that we are over. No sense trying to beat each other up with guilt or accusations. Just let them go.

flirty shimmy giggle Boom chicka-wow-wow!

Flirting done now for a while....grin

RE: If a young man came up to you on the street and showed a "free hug" sign to you. Would you hug him?

If the request also came with a shout of "I Love You Pookie", I'd know it was one of my kids and start laughing.

RE: a world of happiness

Being happy is a choice; no one but yourself can make choose to be happy or unhappy no matter your personal circumstances.

Summer Reading

I think I like "lite murder mysteries" like those written by the late Lawrence Sanders. Kind of fun to read. But I do understand how hard it is to tear oneself away sometimes from here....laugh

Summer Reading

I tend to re-read books that I've enjoyed. Last summer re-read most of the books that I enjoyed as a child or young adult. This summer; I'm trying to read at least a chapter a night or a book a month but hard to do with my granddaughter around.

I've read Ken Follet and heard of Hoffman and Baldacci, is Kellerman a good author?wave

RE: Only for girls: Do you believe in "Love at the very first sight"

I believe in "attraction" at first sight and interest within five minutes.....

Summer Reading

What are some of your favorite authors or novels/novellas that you reserve for your summer reading or holiday reading?

Do you re-read certain books or genre's?
