The Morning After

She may have lost that loving feeling but when Paul Shane saw the re-run of this he must have got that sinking feeling, big time.

How can something seem like a good idea one minute and then, the next, make you want to curl up and die. It happens to me regularly. Most mornings when I wake up and consciousness slowly seeps into my head, the memory of some of the things I've posted on the forum, the night before, comes back to me and I feel like burying my head under the pillow. But then, I go and do it all over again. What's going on? Please tell me I'm not the only one locked into a cycle of self humiliation.

Belly freeze breakfast.

Resolving to start reversing the 15 pound weight loss of the past month I try new things for breakfast.

An 'Irish' woman had suggested mashing a banana and an egg together and either frying it as a pancake or microwaving it in a bowl. So I did that, but with two eggs. Very interesting, quite tasty. Surprized to see something so clever come out of Ireland (where Google swears she is).

That done, I was still hungry. So I decided to freeze my stomach.

Take a large 7-11 slurpee cup. Mix well two packs of Carnation Instant Breakfast Vanilla flavored and milk. Add a dash of heavy cream. Add 4 large scoops of Vanilla ice cream. Add more milk till full. Sip slowly in front of the morning telly. Ahhh, brain freeze of the belly. Good feeling.

Tall tales.....

If we are really truthful, who has gone through life without ever bending the truth? But sometimes there's evidence of some doing so being perhaps a little disturbed. Tons of examples here, but one of the most striking involves a lady I met at one of the 12 step meetings I needed years ago. Amy was quite bright, and a real looker, if perhaps a little on the frigid/neurotic side, which of course can be alluring for some men. But after joining a few local meetings, she began disclosing that she had terminal cancer. In time, the truth came out, as it almost always does, that this wasn't so. People were still nice to her, but all saw her in a different light. We humans are a funny bunch. In spite of his many faults, our Rainbow doesn't tell tall tales. But he does hide his toys, and sometimes our things, without damaging any. Dogs---humans. Aa.

Carrots, Eggs, or Coffee; “Which are you?”

This beautiful story has been circulating on Facebook. Unfortunately we cannot trace who wrote such a touching and insightful piece. Nevertheless, we are sharing it to those of who have not read it yet.

A young woman went to her grandmother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose.

Her grandmother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs and the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her granddaughter, she asked, “Tell me what do you see?”

“Carrots, eggs, and coffee,” she replied.

She brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they got soft. She then asked her to take an egg and break it.

After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg.

Finally, she asked her to sip the coffee. The granddaughter smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma. The granddaughter then asked. “What’s the point, grandmother?”

Her grandmother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity–boiling water–but each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water they had changed the water.

“Which are you?” she asked her granddaughter.

“When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?”

Think of this: Which am I?

Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff?

Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.

When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate to another level?

Happiness..............

One must remember that most people on our planet today have very little freedom – Every society in our world is very different and each attempts to find meaning and happiness in a completely unique way. .. ..."Happiness is not something ready made..... It comes from your own actions." -- Dalai Lama. .. .. Happiness is one of the many emotions humans experience. It may perhaps be the most important feeling a person can have and it is the one feeling everyone strives to achieve, yet strangely, for the most part, people seem to only get a glimpse of it. Pleasurable satisfaction, a state of well-being and contentment are the more outstanding elements of happiness. .. ... true happiness is found in the emotional connections established between people. .. ,... the length of one’s life, the presence of love, and the amount one’s progress or success throughout their lifetime. ... ... “Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.” -- Denis Waitley. .. seeking only pleasure cause many problems on both self and others. Therefore, I think that striving for authentic happiness is the best way to solve problems that humans cause by seeking pleasure and make the better world where many people can become happy .... ,,.... ,,,.... the concept of happiness is complex and hard to measure, many people believe that happiness is mysterious, elusive, and totally out of their control. This is not true. Actually, happiness is a choice. Each person can decide whether to be happy or not. ,,... ..."Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be." -- Abraham Lincoln....
