A Consciousness Thought

"The having of perceptions, thoughts, and feelings; awareness. The term is impossible to define except in terms that are unintelligible without a grasp of what consciousness means." - Wikipedia

Just give it a try
If we don't take a risk, we will never learn, grow, live n love
To me, life is always give n take
Remember to think positive
It's not the other people we have to beat , it's ourselves..

The truth about Love

The truth about love is that it is so bound up with regret that it seems impossible to separate the two. You regret the words you said, which you didn’t realize would come out so badly. You regret how vulnerable you let yourself be, how you cracked open your chest to reveal your still beating heart.

You regret all the chances you gave, the forgiveness you bled so freely. You regret the time not spent together, the days you sat side by side on the couch both engrossed in your laptops. You regret the time wasted arguing or sulking or spent in a state of deliberate misunderstanding.

You regret the beginning, because it could only ever lead to this. You regret the ending, because of everything you’ll never get back. You try so hard not to regret everything in between, but you do. You do.

THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO LIFE

Than finding someone who will want you, or being sad over someone who doesn't. There's a lot of wonderful time to be spent discovering yourself without hoping someone will fall in love with you along the way, and it doesn't need to be painful or empty. You need to fill yourself up with love. Not anyone else. Become a whole being on your own. Go on adventurs, sit in the coffee shop on your own, dress up for yourself, give to others, smile a lot. Live for yourself and be happy on your own. It is not any less beautiful, I promise ;)

Electricity

My power went off this morning because a rather strong little rain storm came through and
did something to the wires.
Well, that made me think, oh good, I can do some of those little jobs around here that I've
been putting off.
That's when I realized how much trouble I could be in if the lights don't come back on like so
many are talking about on the internet.
Everything around here is somehow electric, even my water. My pressure system is electric.
My stove and refrigerator are electric. Everything in my wood shop is electric, except my old
broom, and you can only sweep so much.
Time to do some serious thinking, I think....
What do YOU think?

Diplomacy and Kindness

Recently, I had a conflict with a co worker who has become a friend. And someone gave me an advice that united my heart and my mind.. He said: Never pick a fight and make an enemy out of anyone. No matter how you dislike a person, deal with them with diplomacy and kindness. For you never know what they might bring to you.

That moment, I gave it deep thought. I have 3 options:
1. I will confront the issue with anger. With it I keep my pride and express to everyone that I am right. And that noone can step on me because I know how to fight back.

2. I will face the issue with apathy. Some people might think I'm wrong on the matter, some people might tale my side. But who cares? I will just act as if I don't care and it doesn't matter.

3. I will talk to the person involved sincerely using diplomacy. Even when she wronged me, I'll give kindness. This will kill my pride but it will keep the peace and won't create unnecessary drama and awkwardness at work. And if by it she still rejects my attempt to peace keeping, at least I will be at peace.

So, I chose option 3, anyway, the only thing I lost was my pride, temporarily. In the end, I kept my friendship and peace. That guy was right. A little diplomacy and kindness go a long way. And letting go of pride once in a while, gives me peace that I need way more than whatever prize pride will ever bring me.

On Being Human....

What is a human being? The online dictionary defines it as the fact of existing or conscious mortal existence. Hmm... do animals have conscious mortal existence?

If all it means is existence, then why do we seek meaning to our lives? If conscious mortal existence means only that we're conscious of our mortality, then why do we seek the answers to our existence? If we are meant simply to exist, then shouldn't however we exist be enough? What would it matter if we felt happy, sad, glad, angry, fearful, joy, frustration, etc., if we were meant to merely exist.

What would our lives be without feelings? Our lives would be an existence. It's our thoughts that determine whatever feelings we have about anything. We have thousands of thoughts every day, most of which don't even register because we don't assign any feelings to them. But it's how we feel about something/anything that determines how we act/react. Without feelings we would truly only exist.

In my opinion, it's that consciousness of feeling that gives us our humanity. And the more conscious and aware of how we are part and parcel of the entire universe, the more compassionate and the more empathetic we become. The more love we feel, the more love we have/need to share.

Every single person is made with blood, bones, muscle, etc, and it takes the same kind of energy for their hearts to beat, as it does ours. Peel off the skin, and you have the same kinds of cells that it takes to make ourselves as it does every other person.

It takes food to nourish them, and water to hydrate them, just like us. They hurt, cry, laugh, and love, just like we do. They need food, shelter, clothing and fresh water, just like we do. And they want more than to just exist, just like we do. They want to be loved and be happy, just like we do.

We're not defined as human buyings, conscious only of making more money than our neighbors, and buying more. We're not defined as human doings - being busy doing things to avoid feeling too much, or afraid that we won't feel enough.

We are defined as human beings. And a mother across the world is no less a human being than any mother here. A family is still a family. They rejoice at births and grieve at deaths and losses, just like we do. And that's what makes us human beings. The capacity to feel compassion and empathy for another human. The ability to be conscious of someone else's plight and to want to ease their lives, in whatever way we can.

If we are meant to merely exist, then I don't think we'd have been given the capacity to be conscious of not just ourselves, but everyone else, or to feel anything.

We all have the capacity to be amazing, and to accomplish amazing and awesome things in this life. If we focus on and are conscious of what we can accomplish and the good feelings that brings, there is no telling what every single person here could achieve.

As human beings, we each have something priceless to contribute. Every single one of us. I will work harder at being more conscious of my own thoughts and feelings and being aware when someone is trying to pull me from that happy place within my mind. I will be more conscious of seeing the jewels in others, particularly those that do not agree with me.

And, I think, that's what being human is. grin

fortune/misfortune

Strangely....or maybe not? I don't even have an Amazon account...well, none that I know of anyway. But just a couple of days ago I open a package from them. It is a gift, a book, Marcus Aurelius Meditations.

About a third of the way through it, I have found myself immersed in it.

I have not had much time to digest all of what I have read but enough to get me thinking a bit...something I would like to share here anyway.

It is about fortune and misfortune.

One person's fortune may turn out to be another's misfortune...and later be the initial person's misfortune in the end.

Likewise, one person's misfortune may be another's fortune...and later be the initial person's fortune in the end.

If that is the case, does fortune and misfortune really exist?

The book says, to my understanding anyway, to be truly happy, we need to discover an inner tranquility within ourselves. The external things are always changing....and warns against protecting your perceived self-worth with things such as: pleasure, pain, passion, wealth, fame, etc....

As a side note:

I found it interesting how the book mentions how everything today is the seed for tomorrow and how everything before was the seed for today.

and...

How it says life is an opinion.

Thank you Amazon for the book. :)
