I think there is a difference in playing and being played.
No one likes being taken advantage by deceit. People do like to pretend and to play, and be playful - otherwise we wouldn't enjoy theatre or movies, or the news as much as we do.
Although as Winston Churchill said
A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has chance to put its pants on.
How to Fake a Clean House Reserve one side of sofa cushions to be shown to guests. Before company arrives, flip over the cushions to reveal good-as-new fabric. When guests are gone, flip them back. Rid the sofa of pet hair by wetting the fingertips of rubber gloves and gliding your hand over the sofa. The hair will stick to the rubber. Stack books, catalogs, and magazines in neat piles on the floor or arrange them in a deep decorative basket. To disguise windows in need of washing, pull curtain panels closed. Fold a clean blanket neatly and drape it over a stained sofa. Strategically placed throw pillows can also camouflage soiled upholstery.
everywhere I turn, I'm getting the impression it is time to lie, or lye.
I thought Francis Bacon wrote his stuff? The Baconian theory of Shakespearean authorship holds that Sir Francis Bacon, philosopher, essayist and scientist, wrote the plays, which were publicly attributed to William Shakespeare. Various explanations are offered for this alleged subterfuge, most commonly that, Bacon's rise to high office might have been hindered if it became known that he wrote plays for the public stage. Thus the plays were credited to Shakespeare, who was merely a front to shield the identity of Bacon.
Bacon was the first alternative candidate suggested as the true author of Shakespeare's plays. The theory was first put forth in the mid-nineteenth century, based on perceived correspondences between the philosophical ideas found in Bacon’s writings and the works of Shakespeare. Legal and autobiographical allusions and cryptographic ciphers and codes were later found in the plays and poems to buttress the theory. All but a few academic Shakespeare scholars reject the arguments for Bacon authorship, as well as those for all other alternative authors.
Interesting back in the day, the Canada - French speaking Quebecois military troups protested and all turned their backs on Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau when Charles de Gaulle visited.
It’s not a slowdown — it’s a virtual work stoppage.
NYPD traffic tickets and summonses for minor offenses have dropped off by a staggering 94 percent following the execution of two cops — as officers feel betrayed by the mayor and fear for their safety, The Post has learned.
The dramatic drop comes as Police Commissioner Bill Bratton and Mayor Bill de Blasio plan to hold an emergency summit on Tuesday with the heads of the five police unions to try to close the widening rift between cops and the administration. Arrests have dropped by 66% and ticketing for minor offenses has dropped by 94%. Some officers even said they felt betrayed by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who has mounted a media retaliation campaign against police officers who disrespected him at an officer’s wake by turning their backs on him during his speech.
Police Commissioner William J. Bratton urged officers not to repeat the silent protest staged at Ramos’ funeral, when many officers turned their backs as De Blasio spoke. De Blasio arrived at the funeral for Liu and entered without any of the police turning their backs or displaying any signs of protest.
“A hero’s funeral is about grieving, not grievance,” Bratton said in a memo read to officers before the services for Liu.
There were no signs of protests during Liu's wake, either. In fact, several officers saluted as De Blasio entered the funeral home alongside Bratton.
Neither De Blasio nor Bratton spoke to reporters before either the wake or funeral. Among the political leaders attending the wake was Gov. Andrew Cuomo, whose father, former Gov. Mario Cuomo, died on New Year’s Day at the age of 82.
Liu's wake was held Saturday at the same funeral home where Sunday's service was held. Calvin Hunt was one of those in the crowd outside the wake.
Last weekend, Hunt, who had taken part in marches demanding police reforms, stood outside the church where Ramos' service was held.
Hunt put aside politics and joined in the grieving for Liu, whose funeral was taking place amid the simmering feud between New York police and De Blasio.
The slayings exposed a rift between police and De Blasio, but unlike at Ramos' funeral on Dec. 27, when many officers turned their backs on the mayor, there were no obvious signs of protests among officers close to the funeral home.
Down the block, however, several groups of officers did turn their backs to one of the giant screens broadcasting the funeral, although notably in one section a lone officer stayed facing forward -- a scene captured by photographers.
De Blasio alluded to the tensions involving police, himself and protesters in his eulogy. "Let us rededicate ourselves to those great New York traditions of mutual understanding and living in harmony," he said. "Let us live together to attain peace."
The crowd was too large to fit inside the funeral home and filled the wide boulevard outside for several blocks. Large screens showed the service to mourners on the street.
You jest right? The Mayor could have kept his mouth shut and not made any comments - and left it to the police chief and the officers family and friends - which is the police officers not the Mayor.
What not like sitting in windmill like Don Quoxite? To dream the impossible dream, this is my quest to follow one star to matter how hopeless no matter how far.....
I think the police force in general, these officer's colleagues and friends were offended that the Mayor made any remarks at the funeral at all. The mayor making any statements is what the police in general thought frankly disgusting.
Police, public officials and mourners from across the country gathered Sunday to honor a detective killed last month in an act of violence that has roiled New York City, with a large number of officers again making their frustrations with the city’s mayor apparent by turning their backs on him as he paid tribute to the slain officer.
Defying a request from Police Commissioner William Bratton, the strident display of protest began as Mayor Bill de Blasio took the podium at the Aievoli Funeral Home in Brooklyn to eulogize Detective Wenjian Liu, reinforcing entrenched feelings of hostility that have gripped the department in the weeks since Liu and Detective Rafael Ramos were fatally shot without warning on a Brooklyn street.
In highly controversial remarks, union leaders have criticized the mayor for expressing support for demonstrations against police brutality and accused him of fostering an environment that encourages attacks on police officers.
there are actually some people that because of their disability are unable to work, or to be employed.....
I know a few that have personal characteristics that are so offensive that it is just a challenge to after getting hired by some kind hearted boss, has trouble showing up consistently for work each day, and being relatively civil and pleasant to the public or other employees....
Most joints that hire burger flippers are very picky about who they will hire. Which is why they hire them fresh out of high school or in summer while they still are in high school. Gone are the days that anyone can get a job at the fast food restaurants.
(I debate with myself as to whether to post this ..... I do not advocate stereotyping..... yet am compelled in the name of a little humor..... is it funny any more? ..... :thumbs down: ..... ah what the hey...
RE: hooligans in uniform!!
