RE: Don't Be Shy.....Tell Us What Happened

It didn't happen to me, but I witnessed it.....

Middle aged lady lawyer in packed courtroom, representing her client, speaking with the jury..... and as she continues to argue her case her slip starts to show from creeping down her legs, past her knees and pretty soon, the slip completely drops to around her ankles.

She doesn't skip a beat in her reasons why her client is innocent. She casually steps out of her slip in a heap, scoops down, picks in up and slips it into briefcase, without one word to indicate anything about it at all. Talk about confidence.

RE: "How old were you..."

and pedal guys How fast does one need to go, to occupy all space in the universe
at the same time?

At the age of 8 or 9, middle of winter in New Brunswick Canada, neighbors back yard, the older boys build an igloo - and iced it down. I crawled in and got stuck inside for what seemed like hours..... imprisoned... in snow and ice...., it was getting late and I needed to use the rest room. and that is when I realized I had to go fast, but could not because I was stuck occupying all the space in my universe at that time......

When did you win your first prize, ribbon, award, smiley face, good grade?

When and what was your first official act as an adult?

RE: Are Canadians Cheap?

I don't get it - this police officer that stopped me for speeding, just let me off with a warning on that offense and got real testy with me when I tried to tip his good service.

I know my lawyer is going to ask for a nice big tip. sigh

RE: YEAH... I would vote for this!!!

scold You are blaming the victim!

Do you really have any idea of who these "slackers getting welfare" really are?

No, you have not got a clue. You just read about the bad apples, cause that sells news.

RE: YEAH... I would vote for this!!!

You can look at it like this but, it is so far unrealistic and offering solutions off the backs of the needy.

So taxes are collected - there is no denying it will continue on. The question is, what is the tax dollar to be used for?

for military, security, operate our laws and rules, roads, bridges, etc, free education, and access to public places - and to take care of the welfare of those who cannot, for whatever reason, take care of themselves.

But only in America do we make a policy to take care of the health, or social welfare, that we also impose the burden of requiring the individual through extra ordinary means to "prove that they deserve" the benefit of tax dollars.

If you reach a certain age, and you paid into the social security system you get a minimum amount a month in old age - this is not a pension so you are responsible for all your life to save money or get a pension from you job.

If you get sick, until the Affordable Care Act, you needed to have your employer or yourself have health insurance, or go to a free hospital and take your chances in an overcrowded emergency room or just not go and cure yourself.

What kind of a sick messed up country do we have? and still we wish to not pay the government employees that go out to businesses to ensure our food products are safe, our houses are not burned, our garbage picked up, our mail delivered, the businesses and people don't dump toxic waste into our back yard.

Just what do you think our tax dollar needs to go for? and why would you worry about a pittance of a little bit in food stamps??????

RE: If you had the power to change one thing on the "Male/Female body, what would it be?

I would like to make a change to both men and women's bodies.

To not grow old or breakdown body parts. To reach a certain age of maturity and then stay at that fitness or health.

RE: Happy Thanksgiving Canada!!!!! (Monday)

Canadian family and friends and neighbors, may your Thanksgiving be filled with plenty!

RE: All Eyes on Florida?

I watched a Sunday morning news program interview the candidate that got 13% of the primary vote - the Libertarian.

He actually made a lot of sense in is views. But to vote for him would be to take away votes from the guy who might have more power in Washington. Sadly, It really is a two party system.

RE: 10 wkends till christmas...i have plans

RE: "How old were you..."

4 years old, I was determined to become a nurse in Africa. Never happened. Because when I was 27 I decided to never freeze again so my career would be in a warm sunny climate...... and I moved to Florida from Canada..... and now I am almost ready to retire.

How old were you when you learned your first big lesson in life?

RE: If you have an university degree would you marry a person with less then 6years of schooling?

I like smart guys - although street smarts or common sense is more important - but the actually degree......

Interesting question. I have liked men in a variety of occupations over the years, students, lawyers, police officers, a cabinet maker, scientists, investigators, public servants, pilots, electrician, a trust fund kid, a photographer and a writer.

Dang that is a 40 years of dating (some all in one year before sticking with the same man for 20 plus years)...... uh oh

When it comes to the degree or schooling it was important maybe for their career or job, I never dated any slackers - but it was not important for the relationship.

I like the artist type of guy, who may work in an industry or job that pays the bills but that has other things going on in his life, like building things with his hands, or likes animals and outdoor adventures. Especially the regular guy who enjoys football, or fishing, or plays basketball on the weekend with his buddies.

One thing that I have found interesting is my lack of interest in musically creative men. I like music, all kinds but I have never been interested in men who have musical talents or musical jobs.

Am I allowed to comment on your thread.... I do rant and rave.... and I can't promise that I'll behave.

RE: Massive Fraud: CA Welfare Overpaid by $0.84 Billion thats with a B

Socialism is an economic state - most countries are now mixed economies. It is their political system that dictates if their social policies work.

Nothing in life is free, even if you are poor you pay. Everyone pays something, somewhere....

what's the big deal?

Why are we so concerned, worried about someone getting more benefits for themselves and their children and we don't worry about a big corporation that moves to another country to avoid paying taxes, or a big corporation that dumps toxic crap in your back yard, because they make a real nice need product like oil, gas, steel, foundries and because they pay good wages and employ the whole town? Except when the auto industry went to foreign lands and we had to bail them out....

No we are sooooo concerned about whether the mom with 3 children and one 18 year old (now adult) said she had 3 instead of 2. Because we spend money on rooting out the individuals that might get a little bit more by cheating.

Yet we don't seem to be bothered by the criminal who lies and cheats and steals for a living to say under oath that they are indigent.

It's just crazy, how we think.

RE: Buying Pumpkins

Conrad, I did not know you farmed.....

RE: Massive Fraud: CA Welfare Overpaid by $0.84 Billion thats with a B

Again with the idea that the individual must be subjectively determined to deserve the help or not.

Issue #1 -

For example in the criminal justice system - the determination to give a free lawyer to people accused of a crime is to take an oath in court that you are indigent - that's it. So imagine if the standard for receiving free social benefits was the same thing. Instead of a blanket rule to representation if you are charged with a crime and you cannot afford a defense, it is allowed EXCEPT if were found to have stashed away money and just said you were poor, or had to bring in all your bank statements, or have some one follow you and see you bought alcohol at the store, or all kinds of other things. Or imagine if you were arrested and the government froze your assets and then said because of the money frozen you were not entitled to free representation......

That is what happens in our helping the "poor" with social services like medicare, medicaid, food stamps, welfare. They do not just get the chance to issue an oath in a court or legal system to say they are poor. No, instead they're personal and financial life is raked over the coals. Every nook and cranny of their life reviewed by some bureaucrat or social worker - to really "prove" they are poor. It is not just a policy but now there is subjective individual analysis.....

For the very, very little money that actual goes from the federal budget to help the poor in the billions that go other places.... it is a lot of stinking screaming and yelling.

doh very mad

RE: Buying Pumpkins

He might just need a little bit of pumpkin pie to mellow out...... giggle

RE: Buying Pumpkins

Alright so I googled pumpkins in Miami - and so yes we do. However I don't know the prices.

Pumpkin Patch at Little Farm Miami-Dade
13401 SW 224 Street
Goulds, FL 33170
(305) 258-3186

For those who want a unique experience, drop by the Little Farm. While it is a bit of a drive, this traditional family farm lets you get away from the concrete and simply enjoy nature while getting your pumpkin. Once you’re there make sure to stop by their petting farm and maybe get a scarecrow kit. Oh and you get a free pony ride with each pumpkin purchased!

RE: Buying Pumpkins

Yes, lots of that here, too

My favorite is pumpkin swirled in with mashed potatoes and garlic, as part of the dinner, or is that supper?

and .... just off side question - what is tea time? is it lunch time?

RE: Buying Pumpkins

So what else goes on during German night?

RE: Buying Pumpkins

What pumpkin pie is not a traditional English thing? uncertain

RE: Buying Pumpkins

dunno I don't know how pumpkins grow - if it is like potato or root vegetables, then no because the ground is too moist and it usually rots.

However, it is above ground right? I think in northern Florida?

My friend from Palm Beach area, dressed up her little child, age about 18 months in a pumpkin costume and put her into a roadside stand selling tons of pumpkins, and you could not really see her at first, because she blended in so well. So cute.

I don't know if the vegetables were locally grown or imported from a northern state - like they do the evergreen trees during december?

RE: Buying Pumpkins

I thought it was the dish with the spoon?

RE: Would you marry someone on "Death Row" Eventhough conjugal visits are allowed?

Imagine meeting some "death row" convict on line - and loving what you read about this person, think you are falling for him/her.....

and low and behold, he/she finally says lets meet, but by the way you have to come to the death row prison to meet me.

I say at this point. RUN, RUN far away form this kind of torture. End it. this is a tragedy in the making.

What a waste! Cut of the romance and quickly as this convict snubbed out the life of his/her victim.

RE: Buying Pumpkins

laugh

RE: Buying Pumpkins
