I gotta try it.... I've only got 15 minutes left in my day that isn't working, eating, sleeping or watching television..... I should be able to fit it in.....
Obs I think you can add young women, especially if you include those groupies who follow blindly celebrities, serial killers etc. Young women have been "radicalized" often if we broaden the definition and extend it into more than just religious belief. Often reports can be found of women who may not support the new god but rather the leader who sets the doctrine and follow it blindly.
I am not so sure about your whole estrogen testosterone theory - but I willing to hear you out on it....
I think you are right - anyone (or rather most folks) can be radicalized. Because it is not about your current beliefs it is about replacing them with this radical doctrine.
But there is a serious medical condition that must get mass media attention to solve, and that is their is far too much money in you, the consumer's pocket and not enough money in ours the prescription medication industry.
take them aside, confess your sins and agree to out to something separate, a ball game in which you treat them to a holiday present.
or say nothing, say, I'll be right back.....
or.... as I have always done in preparation, brought extra generic presents that are not specific to anyone so that I am prepared in situations like this.
I think we travel down the path after a red herring when we debate the health safety and uses of marijuana - for just like alcohol there was the people on both sides advocating for its use.
Wine for example has been touted in moderation as a good for the heart.
So perhaps the fairness or unfairness about the legalization of marijuana should be addressed as a matter of consistent policy throughout USA rather than piecemeal and state specific, and the ramifications from having each State willynilly set their own laws. oh wait! that is exactly what the states here do - in immigration, education, marriage, labor rules, law and order..... until the whole of the USA and congress has the debate it is going to be a mixed up hodgepodge of individual policies and it slowly becomes united....
So the question should not be is it healthy, safe, or useful but rather like any substance how should it be regulated and consistent.
needless to say I am not going to put the whole recipe on how to radicalize a person - but there are recipes out there.
but one concept is in Behavior modification ....
Polarization A key part of the message is to demonize the other side, dehumanizing and objectifying the 'enemy' as less than human. In this way, values about not harming others can be bypassed as they become 'things' that can be safely harmed or killed without any guilt about breaking social or personal rules.
In this, polarization typically uses forms of amplification, negative stereotypes and simplified schema. By showing that the other side is so extreme and unreasonable, the simple conclusion is reached that the proposed response of extreme action is the only possible route forward. The arguments used may well be full of fallacies but the passion and underlying messages are clear.
Polarization also creates excitement, converting what could be seen as mundane to something more arousing and thrilling.
I don't really know too much about our fundamental belief system - I read and understand it is the hardest thing to change about ourselves or change in others -
Yet there are many cases where for example that people come back brain washed or their spirits are broken and they become broken people.....
women or men who stay in abusive relationships - that too is a form of interfering with one's fundamental belief system....
actually I don't know about radicalization, I am still baffled that c manson can get married... what causes young women to become serial killer groupies?
Spectrum of (Dis)Belief Agnosticism and atheism are often viewed in terms of how "weak" or "strong," "soft" or "hard," they are — as in, how strong one's convictions are about the issues in question. Richard Dawkins, a famous and controversial evolutionary biologist and atheist, expounded upon this concept, creating a seven-point scale regarding belief in his bestselling book, The God Delusion. This scale is meant to show that belief runs on a spectrum, that many religious people are not fundamentalists (a one on the scale), and that many non-religious people are not "strong" atheists (a seven on the scale). Dawkins' scale is reprinted below: Strong theist. 100 per cent probability of God. In the words of C.G. Jung: "I do not believe, I know." De facto theist. Very high probability but short of 100 per cent. "I don’t know for certain, but I strongly believe in God and live my life on the assumption that he is there." Leaning towards theism. Higher than 50 per cent but not very high. "I am very uncertain, but I am inclined to believe in God." Completely impartial. Exactly 50 per cent. "God’s existence and nonexistence are exactly equiprobable." Leaning towards atheism. Lower than 50 per cent but not very low. "I do not know whether God exists but I’m inclined to be skeptical." De facto atheist. Very low probability, but short of zero. "I don’t know for certain but I think God is very improbable, and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there." Strong atheist. "I know there is no God, with the same conviction as Jung knows there is one."
Agnostics claim either that it is not possible to have absolute or certain knowledge of God or gods; or, alternatively, that while individual certainty may be possible, they personally have no knowledge. Atheists have a position that either affirms the nonexistence of gods or rejects theism. When defined more broadly, atheism is the absence of belief in deities, alternatively called nontheism. Although atheists are commonly assumed to be irreligious, some religions, such as Buddhism, have been characterized as atheistic because of their lack of belief in a personal god.
ahhhh Agnostics believe that they do not know if there is a God, father, son or holy ghost, gods, goddesses, or any of the historical teachings of any of the religions etc, etc. - It is Atheists that do not believe in the existence of God.
Actually is not one "plant" it is an entire industry that supported NASA and space travel and branched into every facet of our waking life. We are talking billions of dollars industry. and yes at some point like the car industry it will go out of business..... oh wait that's not what has happened. and plastics supports the information and electronics industries.
I still say it is innocent of you to think that big corporations with boards of directors and stockholders and many layers of management whose sole mission is to make profits, has dictated policy everywhere and all of the world and it is not a matter of settling - it is matter of picking one's battles - it is as intrenched into American ideology as guns and violence.
most of Americans want some short of gun control, according to the polls, yet it will never get to congress in a policy, and when I say never, realistically that is never.
I love my idiot box and cable! Big Bang Theory, Tonight Show, Madam Secretary, Eastenders, Dexter, Six Feet Under, Wire, Downton Abbey, Outlander, and occasionally I watch those conspiracy theorists - CNN.
