RE: HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR ROLE IN SOCIETY?

I disagree with this premise - we do not understand each other only through power and domination. We understand each other through compassion, empathy and by understanding ourselves and our own nature..... jmo

RE: Mind is everything.....

Winston Churchill said - never give in...never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.

RE: Chased my dog down the street on my bike

all of your solutions will create a violent or sneaky dog.

In general for a good bond with your animal - You are to ignore bad behavior and reward good. doh It is a dog not a human with human reasoning or the ability to communicate....

Do NOT DO NOT punish the dog. jmo....

RE: Divorce

Excerpt from the Smithsonian....

The fact is, in the United States the probability of a first marriage lasting for 20 years has decreased to about 50-50. (Before anyone blames Western decadence for the breakdown of the family, it should be pointed out that the Maldives occupies the number one spot in the divorce league tables, followed by Belarus. The United States is third.) Furthermore, these grim statistics don’t even touch on the reality that for an increasing percentage of the population, life is a series of short cohabitations punctuated by the arrival of children.

divorce is, and always has been, a women’s issue par excellence.

Multiple studies have shown that women bear the brunt of the social and economic burdens that come with divorce. The quickest route to poverty is to become a single mother. This is awful enough, but what I find so galling is that the right to divorce was meant to be a cornerstone of liberty for women.

For centuries, divorce in the West was a male tool of control—a legislative chastity belt designed to ensure that a wife had one master, while a husband could enjoy many mistresses. It is as though, having denied women their cake for so long, the makers have no wish to see them enjoy it.

RE: Divorce

True - this is not about fault - as there are no fault divorces.

It is about a woman's choice! Viva the law that gives women the choice!

RE: Columbia Mo

Well - get to work on it! It should be a lot of fun - I went to one in Glasgow Scotland and I still talk about it today!

RE: Divorce

Because women have the right under the law to divorce. That women in the western world have the ability and full protection of the law to choice to live their lives with or without a husband.

It is not like in some backward nations were women are chattel or possessions or properties of men.

RE: Does this sound confidant?

It sounds more like over sharing than confidence. But that is just my opinion.

I wish you the very best of connecting singles. I suggest you think about answering the question in your profile of ........

just what makes you so special?

RE: Is forum helpful?

I can't remember how long it's been since I jointed.....

Not love yet but definitely friendships - I went to Scotland on a get-together from this site and I have a new friend from germany and her friend..... I now have a few gentlemen that I speak to on the telephone.... I am almost ready to Skype!

It's so much easier to make friends --- I get a little shy when it comes to love and men. I prefer the public get togethers and go from there.

RE: Obama challenged to 'confront and destroy' ISIS

there were not Islamic terrorists - it was violent criminal extremists - and of course the leaders are either dead now or in prison..... the rest..... the world is working on strategies to address.... better late than never.

Bush sure made a mess of it, as did congress. We bought that crap about weapons of mass destruction.

RE: Cuba, Mexico or Niagara Falls?!

I understand a general american can't quite go to Cuba yet, right? I know we opened up relations, but usually the only American folk I know that go have family there. It's just 90 miles away from my town.

There are some lovely places in Mexico, and the temperatures are lovely. What about Bahamas, Jamaica, Bermuda or other Caribbean Island places?

RE: Obama challenged to 'confront and destroy' ISIS

I think the Summit was a good starting point about taking the religion of Islam out of the violent extremists discussions. Just like in the middle ages with the extremists of christianity - islam religion is going through the same evolution.

Military American power alone does not stand a chance against radical ideas, on a world stage with modern technology. If the republicans have their way in 2016 it will be the predicted decline of the "modern roman empire" - America.

Diplomacy, political will, a partner with our allies in the middle east and taking a back seat to those that have skin in the game. Also not isolating ourselves from all the people in those countries of all religions who believe in democracy, peace and law and order - of building up their communities and creating rather than destroying.

Those that are working to educate their populations, good medical services, have fresh water, clean unpolluted lands, who build and create a better world for themselves and their families and neighbors. that have fair uncorrupted systems of law, for all people to safely go to their businesses and faith, and where children can play and grow up to be productive and happy adults.....

RE: Obama challenged to 'confront and destroy' ISIS

Oi! scold Leave my fabulous President alone.....

RE: The last WoRd..

RE: People...

Don't go "all Putin" on us! rolling on the floor laughing

RE: what country would you like to travel too?

I don't get to enjoy the weather as much as I have in the past - I keep going to work sitting in a cube farm away from the windows.... Peeps around the world don't really understand how hard working Americans are.... and much abused by the employers - who often don't want to provide family days off, sick time, a fair wage for reasonable hours....

sorry, rant over, I'm off to the salt mines. Email my inbox if you want to come down to Florida for a visit Felix. genuine offer.

RE: Felix's Coffee Klatch

I have some nice mix of soap and water to get that coffee stain off. laugh

Can you make a chai tea latte for me? I'll tell you Felix, this cold front that the weather peeps were saying was here - threatening temperatures in the 50s did not materialize. It is still cool but not cold. Can never trust those TV weather folk.

RE: what country would you like to travel too?

handshake Yes my favorite places, Scotland, Canada and some places in the United States of America. Of course all in spring and summer....

Not leaving sunny Florida in winter. laugh

and of course now that I have a new friend from Germany, I will have to make plans to visit her little town there.

But I want to go back to Scotland THIS YEAR, yes 2015 THIS YEAR!

RE: Astonishing Technology!
