This kind of thinking is offensive to anyone - labeling peeps is just biased and ignorant
This president was not elected because of his color, or race (some might even say in spite of his color). He is not a representative of his race. He is a representative of the people of the United States of America, and the republican party. He is an individual.
Trying to second guess the election process based on simplistic reasons, is just
With these powers come several responsibilities, among them a constitutional requirement to "from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient." Although the President may fulfill this requirement in any way he or she chooses, Presidents have traditionally given a State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress each January (except in inaugural years) outlining their agenda for the coming year.
The Constitution lists only three qualifications for the Presidency — the President must be 35 years of age, be a natural born citizen, and must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years. And though millions of Americans vote in a presidential election every four years, the President is not, in fact, directly elected by the people. Instead, on the first Tuesday in November of every fourth year, the people elect the members of the Electoral College. Apportioned by population to the 50 states — one for each member of their congressional delegation (with the District of Columbia receiving 3 votes) — these Electors then cast the votes for President. There are currently 538 electors in the Electoral College.
EXCERPT from the White House.gov The President The President is both the head of state and head of government of the United States of America, and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.
Under Article II of the Constitution, the President is responsible for the execution and enforcement of the laws created by Congress. Fifteen executive departments — each led by an appointed member of the President's Cabinet — carry out the day-to-day administration of the federal government. They are joined in this by other executive agencies such as the CIA and Environmental Protection Agency, the heads of which are not part of the Cabinet, but who are under the full authority of the President. The President also appoints the heads of more than 50 independent federal commissions, such as the Federal Reserve Board or the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as federal judges, ambassadors, and other federal offices. The Executive Office of the President (EOP) consists of the immediate staff to the President, along with entities such as the Office of Management and Budget and the Office of the United States Trade Representative.
The President has the power either to sign legislation into law or to veto bills enacted by Congress, although Congress may override a veto with a two-thirds vote of both houses. The Executive Branch conducts diplomacy with other nations, and the President has the power to negotiate and sign treaties, which also must be ratified by two-thirds of the Senate. The President can issue executive orders, which direct executive officers or clarify and further existing laws. The President also has unlimited power to extend pardons and clemencies for federal crimes, except in cases of impeachment.
don't think so - now that they get their family to send back money and stuff legally so they can have a better life, why risk their lives to cross the 90 miles, pay smugglers the funds, and when Cuba will see a little bit better improvement to their infrastructure?
This should reduce the flow of cubans in the rafts..... I think?
Interesting fact, when Miami received wave after wave of Cubans to our shore, we offered to relocate them to other parts of the country - since it was very expensive and we had no place to house them, so we actually sent them to Ohio and Illinois.
A medianoche with Café Cubano (Cuban coffee, Cuban espresso, cafecito, Cuban pull, Cuban shot) is a type of espresso that originated in Cuba after espresso machines were first imported there from Italy. Specifically, it refers to an espresso shot which is sweetened with demerara sugar as it is being brewed, but the name covers other drinks that use Cuban espresso as their base.
Drinking café cubano remains a prominent social and cultural activity in Cuba and Florida, especially in the regions surrounding Miami, Tampa, the Florida Keys, as well as in other Cuban American communities like Havana on the Hudson. Café Cubano is available in almost all coffee shops in the Miami Metropolitan Area and Tampa, making it a traditional staple of regional cuisine.
It is the BEST of our imports! that and the Cuban immigrants
You are absolutely right we do have a lot of home grown skilled workers in all fields - I just don't know if I would go into blanket statements about our immigrant populations and how immigration and the labor market works..... because I don't trust our media to give a factual report on anything. I do know it is very hard for our graduates and those new young folk coming into the job market.
Miami is an international banking mecca - and Florida's largest industry is prison industries.... so go figure..... it is also ground zero for medicaid fraud, identity theft and other bad guys. It kinda makes sense, that if you come to Miami to do any crime, we will catch you and allow you to hear all about prison blues.
So the statistics are high because we catch em and report em - so maybe other cities are really have the highest amount of crime but if they are not caught they are not reported in the same way......
30 years in Miami, if I haven't picked up spanish, I would be in real trouble..... thanks for the offer!
The news media did a lot about no one wanting to risk the dangers to work in the farmer's fields - we have American farmers that bring over foreigners to actually cut the cane, then they send them back. They also have migratory groups work through out the eastern seaboard area moving back and forth between states to harvest the products.
But they are now a very small portion the populations that immigrate to America. We get a lot of highly skilled and trained workforce from around the world. Nurses were a shortage at one time and were taking them from wherever they could - scientists, doctors, medical professions, highly skilled people to work in the technology industry, the movie and film business.
We get a LOT of UK actors .....
..... but they don't speak American, I'm told it's English.....
Actually statistically, Florida immigrants do more than cut sugar cane, pick the produce, they also build businesses, work in our service industry, our plastics industry, our local governments, in the technology business and banking, transportation, seaports, airports, and even ..... law enforcement.
and THANK GOODNESS they speak more than just English! If they don't speak English when they arrive they sure learn in a hurry.
They need those other languages. Because America is a land ripe for those with energy, drive and versatility to adapt and speaking more than one language is essential to getting ahead. It is why most American schools teach another language besides English.
Diversity is what makes America great..... now if we can just do something about those stinking politicians and stupid media corporations....
Why are women the gate keepers of the baby production?
It takes two people to make a baby and each has a responsibility in that creation.
There is nothing sadder than a married man fooling around with a women who is not his wife, procreating! The story although sad is older than time itself.
Who is the CS's biggest master baiter?
