Other people's Comments

Everyone makes comments on other people's blogs. We don't always agree or disagree on the subject matter, so we make a comment. Well this morning, a blogger who wrote a blog, deleted me because I didn't agree with him. WOW!!!! What a temper. He needs to grow up and smell the roses! This guy always tries to come across as a "mister nice guy". This hasn't happened to me since when I first came on CS a few yrs ago.

IMO, if you don't want a negative comment to your blog; then only write positive stuff! Hellllllo!

Gratuity Not Included: Servers

Ask almost any waiter, waitress, or server and they'll tell you: They dread the Sunday after-church crowd. Perhaps it's undeserved, but many churchgoers have the reputation of being demanding and stingy. Somehow, we have gotten a bad name in the restaurant community, at least on Sundays.

It behooves us to be kind to those who serve us. One of the ways we express our thanksgiving to God is by treating others with gratitude and kindness. Proverbs 19:22 says, "What is desired in a man is kindness."

Those who serve us -- waiters, clerks, tellers, flight attendants, bellhops and skycaps, ushers, babysitters, valets, supermarket baggers, parking attendants, shuttle drivers, and so forth -- often work long hours and receive minimal pay. Yet they bear the brunt of complaints. They often have to put up with arrogant, unkind, irritable clients.

Go out of your way to smile at the guy behind the counter. Be pleasant to the woman on the phone. Tip when appropriate. Be a pleasure to serve. Show unusual kindness. A dash of gratitude can brighten the skies of others and represent Christ to their hearts!

A warm smile is the universal language of kindness!

The Poison Garden

In Eureka, California, best-selling author Amy Stewart tends an unusual garden behind her house. Every plant could kill you. Some of her plants, if ingested, would paralyze you. Some would stop your heart. Amy is a specialist in poisonous plants, about which she often writes and lectures. They are grown behind a secure fence.

Few of us would want such a garden, but how many of us have allowed a root of bitterness to spring up within us? How many have a little toxic garden in our hearts?

If anyone had reason to remain bitter, it was Joseph in the book of Genesis. Yet he forgave his brothers, was reconciled to them, and provided for them. His forgiveness melted their hearts, and old wounds were somehow healed. Forgiveness isn't just a behavioral adjustment or psychological device. It is the sum and substance of every page and paragraph of the Bible. It's what the Bible is all about. It's the theme of the ages, the crux of the cross and gist of grace.

Beware lest any root of bitterness spring up within you.

He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I have much to be thankful for!

Blessings to all of you!

A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked the stock boy, 'Do these turkeys get any bigger?'
The stock boy answered, 'No ma'am, they're dead.'

Big Turkeys and Little Turkeys
If a big turkey is called a gobbler, what do you call a little turkey.
A goblet.

Hanging the Turkey

Young Simon was sitting in his grandmother's kitchen, watching her prepare the Thanksgiving meal.

'What are you doing?' Simon enquired.

'Oh, I'm just stuffing the turkey,' his grandmother replied.

'Wow, that's cool.' Simon remarked. 'Are you going to hang it next to the deer?'

Martha had a parrot called Brutus, the only problem was that Brutus cussed something awful. Now Martha was having her in-laws over for Thanksgiving, and so she needed to train Brutus quickly not to swear.

Just before her Mother-in-law was due Brutus cussed terribly, so Martha but him in the freezer for 2 minutes to literally cool off. Then she opened the door and took out the parrot along with the turkey.

'And have you learned your lesson about cussing?' Martha asked the parrot.

Brutus the parrot took one look at the dead turkey and said: 'I sure have. But I have one question, "What did the turkey do?"

Nathan, a young boy, after hearing the story of Thanksgiving and how the Indians and the Pilgrims sat down together, climbed up into his father's lap and said, 'Daddy, did you know that if we were Indians, you would be a brave and Mom would be a squawk?'

'That is the best description of your mother I have ever heard, Nathan', replied his daddy, as he ducked.

Comfort In The Night

When small children awake in the middle of the night, if they don't run to their parent' bedroom, they will at least call out for them. They want to know-without being able to express it-that they are not alone. One little guy, after being reassured by his parents that Jesus was with him, said he needed "a Jesus with some skin on!"

Are we so different? When the storms of life roll in and we find ourselves handling them alone, we look for assurance that God has not forsaken us. We know that's what the Bible says, yet we still want to run down the hall of God's "room" to make sure He is there. We have no shortage of promises in the Bible that He is, and yet we can't see Him in person. That's why the Bible encourages us to "walk by faith, not by sight" ( 2 Corinthians 5:7). Just as it is possible to love someone we have'n seen (1 Peter 1:8), so it is possible to trust someone we can't see.

During the storms of life, trust the promises of God.

Sad

One of the sweetest ladies, Smart----, on the blogs has said goodbye to everyone. She says she has met the love of her life. I just want her to know that she will be sorely missed!sigh She is a good friend.

Remember my friend, if things do not work out, come back to your friends here.hug

Daily Prayer

Jesus' pattern for prayer can be a helpful aid to prayer in the early morning hours or the last minutes of the day. In the morning, use Jesus' pattern for prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) as a way to begin your own prayer time. Alone, it touches every element of prayer: praise, petition, "penance" (confession and absolution), provision, and protection. Pray it straight through, or use it as an outline, inserting specific prayers of your own that parallel Jesus' words.

Then, at night, use it as a way to thank God for His work in your life during the day: thank Him for kingdom work you accomplished, for daily bread, for forgiving your sins and giving you grace to forgive others, for not leading you into temptation, and delivering you from Satan and evil.

Make the Lord's Prayer a pattern for your personal daily disciple's prayer.

President John F Kennedy

Fifty one years ago today, JFK was assassinated in Dallas, Texas! A very sad time for us here in the USA! I remember I was playing golf in California on a beautiful sunny day. What I knew about him then, I really admired him!

Would anyone else like to add any experience about him or opinion?

Have a wonderful weekend!wave wave wave

Try a Smile

“And this over here” croaked the 90 year old museum tour guide, “is a fossil 4 million and 69 years old, on it’s left you can see another fossil that’s 2 million and 69 years old.” “Wow! That’s really fascinating,” said a fellow in the audience, “how can you age it so accurately to the year?” “Well that’s simple” answered the old chap, “It was two million years old when I started working here 69 years ago.”

“Hi Sarah, listen I only have a minute. I’m about to get picked up for a blind date, can you call me in a half hour just in case it’s going bad? Yes? Ok great! We’ll speak.” Raquel gave herself a quick spray of perfume, checked herself out one more time in the mirror, and headed outside to wait for the guy. Sure enough after twenty minutes Raquel was discreetly checking her watch. After ten more long minutes her phone finally buzzed. Raquel listened for a few seconds, grimly pursed her lips, and turned to her date, “I feel terrible, but my Grandmother is terribly sick, and I must go home now .” “No problem!” Said her date with a big grin, “in a few more minutes my dog was going to get run over!”

A Needed Laugh

The neighbors thought it was odd, but 93 year old Morton was dating again. One Monday morning Morton woke up with a funny feeling that something important happened last night. It was during breakfast, that Morton finally remembered what it was. He had proposed to his date Greta. But what she answered he just couldn’t seem to remember. Morton picked up the phone and dialed. “Hi Greta”, said Morton, “I have a funny question for you, do you remember last night when I proposed?” “Oh my gosh” gushed Greta, “I’m so glad you called, I knew I said yes to somebody but I just couldn’t recall who it was!”

"C’mon Ma you have got to try it” I pleaded to my elderly Mother. I don’t know how my Mother lasted this long without ever using the internet, but enough was enough! I thought. “Ok” she said reluctantly settling down by the computer and slowly putting on her reading glasses “what do I do now?” “Now I’m going to open the home page of google”, I explained. “OK here it is! Now type in ANY question you want into the bar over here and you will find an answer to your question.” I confidently assured her. My Mother looked at me warily, thought for a second, and slowly began to type, How is Gertrude doing this morning?
