Is This Law And Order?
Is The Law not an amazing thing?Originally it was intended to protect the innocent against criminal elements but lately it seems that it is merely in place to protect the rights of criminals while it does nothing for the victim who, apparently, has no rights. Well, so it seems. And it would appear that The Law favors the one who can gather the most and the best liars to testify in his favor.
Even more amazing is that a family man, a father of daughters himself, can afford a temporary lapse in morals to defend a rapist and then be congratulated all round when he gets a guilty criminal off the hook on a technicality, smiling at the journalists all the way to the bank, claiming that justice had prevailed; all for money and a pat on the back. And afterwards he goes home and writes a letter to the local newspaper to complain about the lawlessness in the city.
It is times like this when I wonder why we still have a code of laws. Anarchy can’t be much worse when stealing is okay if the thief was hungry or when murder is tolerable if the murderer was upset and even worse, when a short dress is seen as mitigation for rape.
And when the court gets it right to send a criminal to jail, all you can do is wonder how much of the sentence will be served before he picks up a ‘Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free’ card due to over-full prisons.
Methinks it is too comfortable in the prisons and sometimes I wonder if those convicts are not upset when they are kicked out of the prisons before their time. It would certainly explain why they end up back in there, often within a few weeks.
Enjoy the day and in case I'm not around at the time, Merry Xmas!

Just follow China’s way of solving it...put a bullet into those who had been found guilty. Then harvest their organs.
How's life in blogland?
Well, same old...same old
I think we’re a fairly good mix, otherwise blogland would be boring
I swear on my kids’ life, Art did mention you just yesterday, how come he doesn’t see you on the blogs anymore. He knows that his MiMi likes Catfoot! and a few others on here
.....
I don't know how things are out there but this side of the Atlantic it is a farce. But I'm told to get used to it as it is bound to get worse.
I'm catching up on everything I lost out on while I was ill. Hopefully the days when I sat blogging all day every day because I felt too lousy to do anything else is gone for good.
I read Wen has a spot of bother now. I do hope he'll be better soon. I know what it is like to live in the shadow of that disease. At least, as some sort of a consolation, one needs brains to get cancer there. Mine was in the bladder, so no such status for me; no brains.
Right! So how are thing down under. I'm glad to see that your cricket team is on the way up again.
A hug for you
And Wen too
The other day I went for a walk in the park, there was a small stream along the edge of the park so I followed it for a while and soon I found a cricket ball,...... I little further along I found another cricket ball,..... As I walked a few meters further I found a dead cricket....
No much good talking to me about ball sports, I don't follow any teams....
.....
Why not? It is the hugging season.
By the way have a very Merry Christmas
The root cause of it all is money. Fairness and justice go out the window when lawyers are being paid huge money to get guilty people off. It requires a total system change, which won't happen.
Mimi!

thanks. As always it is good to be here.
We all want the forces of Law and Order firmly on our side where they should be and sometimes the rulings are absolutely ridiculous
The problem here is more complicated and was caused by colonization. The European powers annexed vast areas and these flourished under colonial rule but collapsed under African rule. This is because before colonial rule small tribes roamed the continent and had to fight for survival. Now suddenly they were given vast areas with rich resources and large populations to administer which was not what they were used to. The leaders got power-drunk and we have what we have today.
Methinks the only way to restore Africa is break down all borders and to to revert to what it was before when every tribe had a much smaller area to control.
Thanks.
The court should be the highest authority in any country but I fear it is not. In many countries the courts are controlled by the rulers.
Oh I did and I enjoyed it thoroughly!
Glad to see you back!
In the state I live in, Wisconsin, I can't believe how lax the laws are! No wonder we have so much crime!
Any way my friend, have a Very Merry Christmas!
Happy Holidays Cat!
He who can afford more, gets the more ruthless lawyer.
Justice and equality go out the window when greed takes over.
MiMi is hungry, almost lunch time over here
Gonna go and forage for fooooooooood!!!!
that is true and then we call it justice. That is why I don't like juries. They are always prejudiced in some way and as such easy to manipulated by a crafty attorney.
That is a common problem here. Police officers are bribed, dossiers 'get lost' and the guilty walks away when the state fail to present a case.
Good to see you too. I always smile when I hear people from elsewhere complaining about the crime rate. You must come here. I don't think there is a single person in this country who had not been a victim of some or other crime. Living in Africa is not for sissies.
All the same to you, my friend.
Hi Ocee,
I can agree with this but when it happens more often than not, there must be a big flaw in the system.
That is the root of all evil. The money. but where will it end? We are back in the middle ages when the wealthy were always in the right. It is still like that. the one with the most money and the best resources will win the case.
Good seeing you again. A minefield you say? Well, I'm quite adept at navigating through minefields. When you have three large dogs on the property, you quickly learn to keep your eyes wide open when walking on the lawn in the mornings.
Merry Xmas to you!
Thanks and the same to you.
Mind you when the king and his men are the crooks...
