I wandered by the babbling stony brook
with fishing pole and bait and shiny hook
and there I found a lake
with fish there for the take
and one, then two, then three is what I took
And there I met a strolling country girl
whose hair was formed from golden natural curls
she said lets take a chance
on old time sweet romance
I said my dear lets give this thing a whirl
Her father was a man of decent means
the farm was sewn with peas and corn and beans
then somewhere in the night
I awoke without delight
to find it all had been just pleasant dreams

l am informed that our sun’s
journey will take umpteen
to-the-power-of-umpteen millennia to
reach the ‘constellation of Hercules’
which will have departed
long before I get there
I learned this from a monkey
You question my sanity?
That’s a coincidence
because frankly
I doubted the monkey’s also.

That woman took a bite outta me,
As if I knew she could,
"Your songs are nothing but poetry,"
"And none of them are no good!",
"Sit in front of that computer, you see,"
"If you want to eat,"
"Later, ask your son if you can come play,"
"In your land of make believe,"-
I just wanna be....,
So, I went over to the high school,
To play some of my shit,
Until the principal himself approached me,
And told me I had to quit,
"You're scaring the Hell outta of the kids!"
"They're starting to look deranged!"
And has they gathered around for my autograph,
This is what they said,-
They want me to be,
A Rock-n-Roll Star,
By the time I made it back home,
I received a phone call,
It was the preacher from the First Presbyterian Church!,
If I would play at the county ball?,
"Sure," I said,
"Let me gather my gear and all would be well,"
And when I got on the stage,
I played Alice Cooper Goes To Hell!,-
I need to be,
A Rock-n-Roll Star
A recording scout spotted me!,
"Let's hit the studio!"
But that woman was with me at that time,
And she said, "Hell no!",
She told me to go back to the house,
"You know you are too old,"
But I already signed the contract,
Now I'm a god of Rock-n-Roll!,
What am gonna be?
A Rock-n-Roll Star!
Cantcha, cantcha see?
A Rock-n-Roll Star!

King Doobie and his psychedelic band we call Funk,
Dig, all of them were hippies,
Except of the monk,-
Lonesome lovers and their lustful needs,
All married bourbon and their children were weed,-
Forgotten moments flow out our minds,
As we gathered in a tepee and smoked us some kind,-
The Doobie King became one of those stars (roar of the crowd),
The peyote seemed to blow him that far!,
(Wow, that's far out, man!),
Yeah, far out into space,
His eyes glowed!- He had no face!,-
The medicine man spoke of his dreams,
But, only the birds understood,
As they sang it in the trees,--
Heartfelt moments in our inner warfare scene,
Tarot cards and fine machines,-
A mental disturbance at the local lunatic house,
Between a lonely man and this hot looking nurse (ugh),-
Stranger sounds from padded walls,
But, only the birds above can hear their calls,-
Warlocks and witches,
Dressed in white,
Frolic the halls in the dead of night?!,
Could that be more frightening,
Than the Orange Sunshine?,
The LSD took it's flight,-
The voodoo woman spoke of their dreams,
Only the birds understand,
As they sing it in the trees,--
(The sounds of birds are singing in the background diminishing as the sound of a cuckoo bird raises higher, then fades)

About this poem:
Written 3-9-1997, before Neighbors, I found that this would be a good conclusion to it by a two-part song. Part one, hard and heavy metal style and part two, more "acid" rock, mellow style with more different instruments involved. Perhaps like a portrait painting with an abstract psychedelic background. Did works like that back in college majoring in art. Blew some people's minds! lol

Each night while I slumber
She creeps into my dreams
Out from backdrops of blue and umber
In a shroud of red and yellow beams
She’s hypnotic in her particular motion
As she dances to the rhythm of the backbeat on a hang drum
She bewitches my heart and ensnares my soul
And takes her plunder with the morning sun
Leaving my energy black as coal
As she disappears beyond the dreamscape shore
And in me burns but one fierce desire
To close my eyes and return to REM
So that I may see her, if only once more

When the bad tidings they do knock on the door
Pain and heartbreak is all that abounds
When shattered heart screams and lamentingly roars
Harrowed bitter tears flow in those sounds
Such anguish, such loss, no one can explain
When cast adrift on the ocean of grief
Try as may want to deal with that pain
No way can be sought, not a sign of solace or relief
What comfort is there for to be found
When drowning in torrents of tears
Standing in a quake tearing apart ground
For now have gone, those once held so dear
And though doing fine, thoughts around do race
The soul still cries out it's call
Just for a moment to see hear and touch face
To say one last time,
I miss and still do love you all
===============================
(*Allwyn moves to stand by the side of the open graves. His face, a mask of sorrow*)
(*He takes up his Mandolin And Begin's to play a haunting Lament*)
(*Allwyn takes up the tune and sings with a voice full of sadness pain and loss*)
When the bad tidings they do knock on the door/ Pain and heartbreak is all that abounds/ When shattered heart screams and lamentingly roars/ Harrowed bitter tears flow in those sounds
(*He sings and plays such a tearful lament, Conveying to all the anguish he feels*)
Such anguish, such loss, no one can explain/ When cast adrift on the ocean of grief/ Try as may want to deal with that pain/ No way can be sought not a sign of solace or relief
(* Allwyn sings with a clear voice but the pain of loss is clear to hear in it *)
What comfort is there for to be found/ When drowning in torrents of tears/ Standing in a quake tearing apart ground/ For now have gone, those once held so dear
(*As Allwyn sings both his voice and the tune he plays are full of loss and longing*)
And though doing fine, thoughts around do race/ The soul still cries out it's call/ Just for a moment to see hear and touch face/ To say one ,ore last time, I miss and still do love you all.
(* the tune goes on few a few bars more and he hums the sad melody to a fade tears freely rolling down his cheeks*)

About this poem:
A song from the heart Of Allwyn Marcher, ( My alter ego in an Game of D&D), on the subject of grief
For any Interested below the song I have posted it again but the way other players would have seen it Verse by Verse in game,
Every thing in (* *) are to emote the song he sings
It's hard too convey feeling in a game when all *spoken* interaction between players is expressed in text.
In the real world I know this is not fantastically good But Allwyn was an amazing bard , His performance score was 62
But In games terms the performance of song brought a whole town to tears
Context He sang this song over his family's Graves. They were massacred in a Massive Orc and giant Uprising.
A fantasy world is not all "they lived happily ever after" you know

It was nice to see the midday rain
I got my guitar and I began to sing
Just a little song about the midday rain
I felt safe on the porch
Which was covered with tin
The midday rain helped the music to blend
And then came the wind and the chimes were right on cue
The midday rain gave all this to me
And now I give it to you
Although the words were just a few and the rain is coming to an end
You'll remember chimes my guitar midday rain and me
And you were invited to and we spent time on a porch covered with tin

I am the truthful singer,
they wish see destroyed
my words they have upset them,
they really are annoyed
For the songs I sing, seem to wound and sting
like a rotten broken tooth.
And the best yet,
I get death threats
just for singing out the truth
I will sing songs of injustice,
all across the land
Poke my barbs at the corrupted
until they change their plan
For the songs I sing, seem to wound and sting
like a rotten broken tooth
Threaten violence
I wont be silenced
just for singing out the truth
Beat your drums 'gainst power drunk tyrants,
do all that you can do
Sing with me in my defiance,
Stand straight stand tall stay true
For the songs we sing, will wound and sting
like a rotten broken tooth
we can all be free
live in liberty
just by singing out the truth

Sky pierced by stars
The game of connecting dots
Constellations twinkle
The last bird singing
In the chorus at sunrise
Singing from his heart
The portrait wanted
To move outside the frame
Something new to try
Wrapped in quilt of dreams
From the fog of sub-conscience
Words precipitate
Waves wash away my steps
A blanc page to start over
Leaves swayed by the breeze
The lost outsider
Bumped into the world’s problems
Bruises and scratches

One day; the invalid king, well, he raised his brow,
Sent off the best that he had,
To slow that army down,
Against demons, warlocks, witches, imps,
And beasts of the unknown,
Before the battle began,
It was already carved into stone,--
What stands between war and peace,
Is that love between you and me?--
A psychedelic storm,
Then the moon broke through,
Hail to the Captain!,
Was sung from the crew,
A rumble in the waters,
And, who could that be?,
It was Neptune himself!
Was the last thing they would see,--
What stands between war and peace,
Is this love between you and me?--
Thousands of years come to pass,
From the price we've paid,
What has happened to us all?
No one here would say,-
The life we live now,
You know it's only a game,
Chivalry long gone,
And everyone's to blame,--
What stands between war and peace,
Is there love between you and me?--
