Real Life

AThumb swipped slowly over red painted lips,
smudged lipstick and parted lips, soft sighs floating to his ears, eyes closed and tears falling softly down cheeks that are a pale pink, to scared to open her eyes.

she knows when she opens her eyes he will not be there because he is not real and never will be, from now she will hold him in her dreams and not expect more.

She turns over and hugs the pillow and as morning comes the real world closes in and she knows he will be lost untill the moon shows her face again and she can again believe in a dream.

YOUR QUEST

gold hidden 'neath the rugged earth
upon which lay your quest
yet murky and turbid is the dew
that is harvested in a cup of sand
your weakness never sets
over the parched and scorching heat
nor will your strength
ever laid to rest
until you will run out
of your sweats
you will want to know
deep within your heart
why all this land
is covered with blood
and as the world lay witness
and yet mightily unconcerned
to its naked plight

your mind will never fathom
why the rift is burning strong
so you will keep on digging
until you reach the bottom
hoping it will lay bare
all the reasons,
that this blood covered land
is a conflict no more
in the mighty difference
of white and black color
but the gap of those
who have and who don't

the question is...will man ever learn
how to vanish indifference?
give to those that have not
and even out the earth's wealth
so revolt will not explode?

perhaps nobody really cares...
you are alone, abandoned
on this quest..
buried
in a drifting sand
stained with ruthlessness
by the greed of human hand
glued forever
in human blood.

Bear/Man

This man can be so gentle, loving and forgiving. If you're on his side then walk with pride, he'll make your life worth living.

Turn on him and he will grin and slowly start to change, into the bear who doesn't care so then stay out of range.

He will attack from front or back, this is a bear to fear. If you like your life and want no strife I advise you don't go near.

His speed is quick, his fur is slick, he'll attack you when he can. He'll hunt you down and come around, he doesn't need a plan.

Please don't let him catch you, he'll go straight for your neck. He'll put his paws around it and soon have you on the deck.

His claws come out, no time to shout, it's time to shake and shiver. He'll dig claws in and start to grin as he tears out your liver.

He can attack from front or back so always look around, because you may not see or hear him until you hit the ground.

So all I'll say is if you're in his way then be careful to think twice. Beware the bear that doesn't care and be with the man that's nice.

Best Friend

You are my smile when I feel down.
You are my company when nobody is around.

You are my laugh when I want to cry.
You are my strength when I want to die.

You are my medicine when I'm unwell.
You are my secret keeper when I have something to tell.

You are my cushion when I need to rest my head.
You are my saviour when my hope is dead.

You are my eyes when I can't see.
You are my ears because you listen to me.

All of this stuff makes you my best friend.
I hope this is how it stays until my end.

When you feel there's nobody to do this for you,
Please contact me because I'm your friend too.

Missing my boy

I miss you my son, you're everything to me,
but I'll always be here, over time you will see.

I am you're daddy and I love you lots.
Being away from you has tied me in knots.

I really do hate it when you are not near.
To add to this I'm struggling with my fear.

I'm scared you'll be hurt during a fight.
I'm scared the dog will turn and give you a bite.

I'm scared I won't be there whenever you're sad.
I know you have mum but you really need dad.

You are number one in my life.
You are the one I want to keep from the strife.

I really hate it when you aren't with me,
because you are my son and I'm your Daddy.

Rivers of my Face

My face is a map
That traces, so accurately
The journey
Of my life
Like old roads
Carved out of hope
Trying to lead somewhere
Now tired and worn
Always remaining
Beyond repair
Fading into the past
Before the journey
Had barely travelled
Lightly trodden paths
Often fondly remembered
For that one single moment
When they crossed
Each other’s destiny
They left such little trace
But measured together
Provide so many memories
Of long lost desires

The ravines of past loves
So very deep
Etched from sadness
As ever growing rifts
Drifting further apart
Wrenched from pain
And scarred with sorrow
With impassable rivers
Born of tears
That had bled
From eyes
That had seen
Futility

But hope
Is an emotion
Where desires
Can see further
Than futility
For this map
Has one last space
To be fulfilled
And complete
The journey of life
And when that final river
Crosses my face
And flows
Into nothingness
All I will ever know
Is it will never
Be as deep
As yours

About this poem:
At my age this is fairly accurate. I am on a sabbatical from my novel because I need to write some new poetry, not much, but one now and again to refresh my warped mind.

Advice from a Tree

Dear Friend,

Stand Tall and Proud
Sink your roots deeply into the Earth
Reflect the light of a greater source
Think long term
Go out on a limb
Remember your place among all living beings
Embrace with joy the changing seasons
For each yields its own abundance
The Energy and Birth of Spring
The Growth and Contentment of Summer
The Wisdom to let go of leaves in the Fall
The Rest and Quiet Renewal of Winter

Feel the wind and the sun
And delight in their presence
Look up at the moon that shines down upon you
And the mystery of the stars at night.
Seek nourishment from the good things in life
Simple pleasures
Earth, fresh air, light

Be content with your natural beauty
Drink plenty of water
Let your limbs sway and dance in the breezes
Be flexible
Remember your roots
Enjoy the view!

SPRING

Each year we get to welcome the return of Spring
early morning song only bird sounds can bring
Fresh beginnings define this time of the year
vast new life blossoming and eager to appear

We can't help but get excited about this season
preferred climate is indubitably the main reason
Spring is natures alarm to all things in dormancy
alerting them to rise back to their natural beauty

Plant and animal alike commence to multiply
the colorful eye-popping blooms induce a sigh
The aroma of freshly cut grass smells so sweet
morning dew certain to dampen your bare feet

A faint rustle can be heard from atop a tree
maybe a newborn overly anxious to see
There's another letting go a whimpering cry
I'd surmise a sibling desperately wanting to fly

Spring is suppose to be conducive to April showers
natures feed to assure the illumination of May flowers
Reason we mostly look forward to the coming of Spring!
it's always symbolic to the end of that winter thing

WHAT I SEE II

What I see are politicians redefining fallacious and self-serving
power and prestige taking precedent over honest governing
I see what's deemed "entertainment" demoralizing mankind
instead of accepting actual reality most prefer being blind

I see that crap called Rap permanently scaring our youth
political correctness is all about abolishing what is truth
The relevancy of "We The People" never truly was
when you start believing it can't get worse it does

The indigent struggle to survive while the wealthy excel
right here on Planet Earth is where you will find hell
What I see is "America" steadily losing it's identity
this lands uncivilized a clear reflection of obscenity

I'm certain that for "What I See" there is no mend
things worsening unfortunately won't ever end
