Solitude

Welcome is the chance to observe
A time for ourselves we reserve
Not separated from ourselves
But swimming into the deepest pool
Down into our own truest belongings
Apart from those who try and rule
Our hearts hunger not to be found
They hunger to hide away and steal
A time to lick our wounds and heal
Welcome is a time to conserve
A time for ourselves we most deserve

The School of Love

Your love taught me how to grieve,
While I have been in need, for centuries,
For a woman to make me grieve,
And to cry upon her arms
Like a sparrow...
For a woman to gather my pieces
Like clusters of broken crystal..

Your love taught me, my lady, my worst habits.
It taught me how to foresee my coffee- cup
Thousands of times every night,
To experience the medicine of herbalists,
And knock on the doors of the fortune tellers.

It taught me to come out of my house,
In order to comb the sidewalks,
And chase your face in the raindrops,
In the lights of cars,
In the unknown apparels,
And even to run after your spectrum
In the posters of advertisements,
And gather millions of stars from your eyes.

Your love taught me
To wander around, for hours,
Searching for a gypsy hair
Envied by all the gypsies,
Searching for a face, for a voice,
Which are all the faces and all the voices...

Your love made me enter, my lady,
Into the cities of grief
while I have never entered
The cities of grief before.
I never know
That tears are a person,
and a person without grief
Is only a reminiscence of a person...

Your love taught me
How to behave like teenagers,
To draw your face with chalk
Upon the walls,
Upon the sails of fishermen's boats,
On the Church’s bells, on the crucifixes.

Your love taught me how love could
Change the map of time...
Your love taught me, that when I fall in love
The earth will stop revolving...
Your love taught me things
That were never occurred unto me..
Thus I read children's fairytales,
Entered the palaces of the Jennies kings,
And dreamt to be wedded with the Sultan's daughter...
Those eyes are more apparent
Than the water of a lagoon
Those lips more luscious
Than the flower of pomegranates.
And I dreamt that I kidnapped her like a knight
And dreamt I gave
Her the garlands of pearl and coral stones.

Your love taught me, my lady,
What hallucination might bring....
It taught me how life may surpass
Without the coming of the Sultan's daughter...

Your love taught me
How to love you in all the things,
In the naked trees, in the yellow dry leaves,
In a rainy day, in the tempest,
In a smallest café where we drink in the evening
Our black coffee..

Your love taught me...to seek refuge,
to seek refuge in hotels without names,
In churches without names...
In cafes without names...

Your love taught me how night
Could proliferate the Strangers’ grief .
It taught me how to behold Beirut
A woman, tyrant of temptation,
A woman, wearing every evening
the most beautiful clothing she possesses,
and sprinkling perfume upon her breasts,
For the fisherman, and the princes.

Your love taught me how to cry without account.
It taught me how grief slumbers
Like a boy with his feet cut off
In the streets of Rouche and Hamra.

Your love taught me how to grieve,
And I have been in need, for centuries,
For a woman to make me grieve,
For a woman, to cry upon her arms
Like a sparrow
For a woman to gather my pieces
Like clusters of broken crystal...

Dog on a Chain

When they get you down
down on your knees
never buckle
never buy the sleaze
who'll be rising
in the morning breeze
from the firestorm
gimme shelter please

FIST HIGH
FOR LIBERTY GAIN
BURNING FLAG
DOG ON A CHAIN

Strive

To reach a goal that no one knows, To think the unthinkable but watch it grow, To reach a level unimaginable to the naked eye, But what is pleasurable to the natural mind. To strive to be alive oh what a time to be alive all I want to do is Strive!

A memory

Walking down street
I saw you there
I took a peek
You stood so lean and tall
My legs began to shake
I thought please don’t fall
I knew those black eyes of yours
My lips had once kissed your tears
It’s been many years
Who said time cures
Those black eyes as clear as glass
You were always a man of class
The short time that was had
were filled with love and tenderness
Just as our kisses
We let what we once had go
to a beautiful place in our past
As I walk away I smile
I just saw a beautiful memory
From my past

The Hurt

Have i ever loved, yes
were you ever loved, yes
how do we know
if we were the one

We keep on trying
we keep on pushing
God! we want this
Yet... it hurts.

Love takes time
We, take time
Is it worth it?!
In time, we will know,

Hoorah for me!
I tried to write every week
Comments on my poems is what I seek
Also to give you something new
I have been writing on here in 2011 which is true
Some are of things I have seen on TV
Some are related to events in the news
Others of events happening in my own life
Some are funny, some wrote with strife
Either way it's been a lot of fun
Coming here and I know I have won
As long as I keep writing, I know I'll have a hit
Because the best advice is, don't ever quit!

Love

To be loved liked you love...
A true heart sent from the stars above....

A hug a kiss we all miss this...
to feel real and to belong sticking TOGETHER like the words to a song....

where does my heart belong...
who sings that sweetest song to whom my heart holds dear...
Be you far or be you near..

where is this love gone I fear...
in the night I think of you a love so true my heart was on fire...

and now the fire burns no more because now I know I'll never walk inside your heart again.

Many Moving Parts

There are many moving parts

You may simple not know

Numerous twists and turns

The future is often murky

Where does one’s reason reside

What things remain inside

Reflections on our strengths

Comparing to our weaknesses

Bridled only by our own ambition

Knowing where we should thrive

Better to find our own happiness

And be completely honest with life

Beauty and Truth

Within the depths of my being
I feel a love for Beauty
Beauty is awe inspiring
and praise invoking

During a quiet moment
on some deserted spot of nature
my soul rises
from this earthly plane
to celestial heights
the mind is at peace
and the soul communicates
with some mysterious cosmic power
that is so pure
so beautiful
and so overwhelming
that to me
it is absolute

In such moments
I feel
so helpless
so insignificant
my soul is lost
within this mysterious realm
whose magnitude fills the universe
for now I am just a part
of this mysterious consciousness

In such moments
I probe my logical mind
-my scientific mind;
I explore my upbringing
and psychological background
to test the validity
of this consciousness
but they are all silent
It is as if this is a domain
so convincing in itself
that logic stands helpless

Feelings reign supreme then
-such intense feelings:
peace generating
and beauty creating
that self is overwhelmed
by its magnitude
Ego is defeated
and the soul is set free
-completely free
from every thing
that binds it
on this earthly plane
for I become a part
and yet the whole
of this mystery
-a paradox in itself

Is this truth
-Absolute Truth?
