Sunday morning, looks like rain
Cars parked along a country lane
The Ramblers are abroad again
Eager for the fray
Checking contents of rucksacks
That they will sling across their backs
In case of rain they carry macs
And so begins their day
______
No spring chickens in this band
As they stride forth across the land
Off they go with sticks in hand
Each one a fearless rover
But It’s not like walking in the town
With nice flat pathways on the ground
And you can bet your very last pound
That someone will fall over
______
It’s not that they are all too old
To be out in the wet and cold
And all in all they’re very bold
To set out on the trek
It’s just that some of them have to fight
To walk and keep themselves upright
And on their feet they’re not so light
One usually hits the deck
______
Muddy patches are the worst
To elderly hikers they’re a curse
And all are wondering who’ll slip first
Sprawled out in a puddle
Are you alright? are the first words spoken
Then they check for bones that are broken
Everyone’s concern has been awoken
As round him they all huddle
______
The dangers out there are untold
It’s not just about the wet and cold
If you fall down when you are old
The outcome could be dire
So put yourself not through the test
Just leave the outdoors to the rest
Who are not so far past their best
And stay home by the fire

About this poem:
Since I became a poet, just the other day, I can't seem to stop slipping into verse.
This was inspired by my observations while out walking with the Ramblers.

Shall I compare thee to a wet Monday?
Thou art more miserable and dull.
Watching TV, on thy couch doest thou lie,
guzzling snacks, yet ne’er seem full.
Oft-times too much the effort proves,
exertion for usefulness to devote.
thy sluggish body hardly moves,
save to press the buttons on thy remote.
Apart from thy telly, and need to be fed,
thou seem’st not to have any cares.
Thou doest not a thing betwixt sofa and bed
save to haul thy fat arse up the stairs.
As for contribution to society, to rest some pride upon,
‘tis with regret I say to thee, thou art a slob and maketh none.

About this poem:
My work sometimes requires me to visit people's homes, where I often get an insight into their lifestyle. This is an attempt to describe one in particular.

A gentle breeze brushed thru' my hair, A mystic touch from I know not where
The soft sweet scent of flowers in the air, borne on the wings of an angel
Soft beams of light through morning clouds bring warmth and hope thru' the wakening hours
Soft whispers blow through the leaves in the trees, she's near
That Angel of mine taking flight with my fear.
The deep of the night often unkind, plays games with emotions the route of my mind
My silent soul calls for a positive sign, be here soon on your Wings of an Angel
The hours do not matter the days aimless too, only worry of losing all that's come true
My long lonely journey may be ending please soon, put my fate in the care of this Angel.
A beautiful being but she only knows, was sent from somewhere I wonder who chose
This special lady holds a key to my door, she unlocks my heart with the kiss of an Angel
I've had doom and despair bring me to my knees, but I write this song with nothing to grieve
My heart it is lifting can I this time believe, she's the one with the love of an Angel.
She floats through my life like a mist from the sea, her soft sweet smile stays always with me
The love in her eyes reserved just for me, I'll always stay neath the Wings of this Angel.

About this poem:
I wrote this poem in my bedroom at a private French Chateau in central France in December 1999. It was a very difficult period in my life emotionally with someone special floating in and out of my life at will.
The writing of this poem was cathartic and helped me overcome the emotional roller coaster which was playing havoc with my working life at the Chateau at the time.

Why does time
Not seem to last?
And why does time
Pass by so fast?
A brief moment together
Locked in Eternity
Our unlikely connection
Is now, You and Me
The Path Of Time
Is forever
We are right now
In Eternity Together

You are my dreams, do you know who you are
Are you the moon, or maybe a bright star
Magic of the night, or warmth of every day
Your words like poetry, send sunny rays
If I am feeling lost, you're my special one
Makes a new day, when the old one is done
Echo of my senses, where past breezes run
Allows me to sit quietly, watch a dying sun
Are you my shadow, where I go, you are there
No need to turn around, I know that you care
Watching over me, especially when I'm sad
Never to be scared of, all good and never bad
Like my inner twin, be a mirror of mine
Inner being waits, for your special sign
Will you remain, or in time fade away
Questions I ask, what will you say?
You're my hidden side, balance in life
If I get overwhelmed, controlling strife
I go to a special place, where I can wait
Until ready, to slip through the opening gate....

Each earth's journey will always end
We'll miss a loved one or a friend
Why be sad when souls are free?
They're closer to God than you and me.
Hearts are not made of stone and steel
Joy and pain we'll always feel
Happiness and sorrow are so real
Life and pain are a package deal
Choose love and light, a way to heal!

Beneath your tough, independent, exterior I sense a fearful, tender, man
Behind the mask that you wear, through your eyes i get a glimpse of your pain
From your transference, the harsh words you sometimes say and in your silence too, I become mindful of the depth of the sorrow you keep safely locked away, choose not to reveal
I am made aware of your wounded sensitive soul, of your fragile spirit,
your broken heart and the scars that need to be nurtured and to heal
I wish you every happiness.
For i am your friend, not your foe !
My words of comfort are considerate, they are true
and it is from a place of sincerity they flow
I really care, I have your back...
I want you to succeed, i want you to excel !
I hope with time, your belief in people, will come to grow
I wish you all the very best, both now and for the future
And trust that your faith and love, in others...you’ll once again bestow.

Animosity permeating society stems from excessive 'Diversity'
reality every 'denier' is bound to call complete absurdity
Answers rarely come from talks between each side
Parties firm stand on own Ideology negates resolving divide
Drastically altering America's landscape curtails lasting peace
'whites' forced into Minority Status assures divisions increase
Humans grapple with why there's a propensity to be 'racist'
I'd surmise 'Human Nature' is the lone reason racism exist
Self-serving corrupt Politics has reached an all-time high
justice coming from Washington D.C. long ago ran dry
This insufferable world induces the best to "Fall from Grace"
'Life's a Gift' a totally fallacious dupe on the human race
The 'Left' believes perpetual 'handouts' makes them morally legit
the 'Right' knows hard work is essential for what you get
Dems pretend to care about 'women and minorities' for a vote
weight of perpetual 'lies and hypocrisy' they're unashamed to tote
Sustaining peace with so many differing beliefs foolish thinking
vast diversity indubitably conducive to the United States sinking

One fine spring morn as I walked through the wood,
I spied an uncommon handsome little bud.
It stood out from the rest on a chestnut tree,
I know not why it so appealed to me.
I watched it through the summer as it grew.
Its splendour and its beauty stood it apart.
Its green was of the most enchanting hue,
and to that regal leaf I lost my heart.
Then September came and turned my leaf to red;
by October my beloved leaf was dead.

How can one say that something has gone away?
I think of you, you have it all
But in a way pay for it with all those lonely nights!
Just waiting for his shine
It comes not so often these days
And you can lay awake all night just wondering
You have your treasure that's been gifted to you
But there's still a need that's craving inside that longs to be met
You can kid yourself you have it all.
