LIFE'S TESTS.

Life sends us tests that attitude can over come
Yes health can be a factor, far worse for some
Then there is romance, to add to the pot
Love is important, but first join all the dots

Someone you can rely upon, at anytime
Sadly we never know, when life is fine
Time is the answer, there is no race
Spending time together, a foundation base

Devotion comes in many, shapes and forms
For some it is a birth right, gifted when born
Others find their true love, a soul mate too
It's what many search for, and can come true

Yet whatever the journey, to do your very best
Some are not keepers, compare as a guest
Also with health problems, they come and go
Supported with friends, is better than a foe

Select those around you, with the best of care
When you need a friend, real ones will share
Highs and lows, will be eased you'll see
Finding special people, caring is the key

To learn from life's hic-cups, a bonus of sorts
Means silver linings are a gift, isn't bought
I was lucky, finding special people that cared
Time they gave freely, and happily shared.

I cannot keep you

I cannot keep you like a bird in a cage!
Sometimes you read poetry to me.
Sometimes you forgive me my sins.
Sometimes you are my life-giving water
Sometimes... only sometimes.
You have so many rules,
I will never learn them all.
You know, I am not an angel,
And I cannot change it.
I cannot keep you like a bird in a cage!
Sometimes you read poetry to me....
Sometimes...

If I Wrote Something

If I wrote something
It would be for you
If I wrote something it would be for only you

And just between you and me
If you read it
Would you call it poetry

Would you remember my name like I remember yours
Would you remember the flame
In my heart the flame still endures

If I wrote something would you read it at all
If I wrote something
Winter summer spring and fall

Wherever you are I hope life is good I'm doing fine
If I wrote something would you read it and pretend
That you had a wish you could have been mine

Irritation

The Call

I got a call from my mom
Three of them
I was out trying to watch the sun set
I couldn't because clouds were near the horizon
I couldn't get a hold of her
I went the next day to see what she needed
Money
I knew where the money she had went
Her grandson had gobbled it all up
The drugs, the cigarettes, fast food every day, trips all over
She loves her grandson
Enough to exclude all the rest of her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren
I don't know how long she can keep it up
Are there loans against the house?
How far in debt is she really?
There are plenty like her in the same situation
I call it stealing
Others might call it elder abuse
Either way, it sucks, big time!

About this poem:
This crap has been going on since 1995. There are plenty of kids who don't honor their parents, and too many parents and grandparents who spoil their children, who grow up to become zoo animals, not able or wanting to make it on their own in the wild.

Pause

Pause for a moment to detox; unpack unnecessary stress, toxic relationships, financial burdens, dead-end jobs, outdated wardrobes, and dead weight.

A new you is emerging, looming to go in new directions; exploring options that create choices it's okay to power down too power up, just know the direction you are going and be comfortable with it, perfection is not required, so don't judge yourself so harshly.

Explore the purpose of learning and expand beyond your comfort level without big risks and have fun along the way. Seek the understanding of supportive friends or a partner who can help you unpack the unflattering load and be just as excited about your transformation as you are.

Set no self-imposed rules or limitations unless you intend to follow them, leave the dictators on the sidelines they have their own unsharpened ax to grind. Stay on course, don't let your plans for yourself be hijacked by naysayers; those watching and waiting for failure.

Take an analytical view before you leap, don't let it be a feel-good moment laced with regrets later. Be flexible giving yourself time to reflect back long enough to keep looking ahead; it's okay to pause and refocus but never give up. Be willing to open doors to find your treasure!

Each journey in life started with the first step, trust the process and the progress, claim victory as you make your mark, homework, wisdom and past experiences are important markers. Don't drown in the expectations of others, swim to shore, and find your own landing, factor in the risks. If you cannot absorb the loss don't take the risk.

The road less traveled is not always the safest route, but give it some worthy thought! Don't get lost in the noise of the crowd, speed bumps are there for a reason PAUSE.

Raddly! Daddly! Doo! WooHooo!!!

So who will give their pixel up
Not one or two or three or five
or six or seven or eight or nine
Maybe ten will split the litttle squeak
can never have too many hens

If ya like to stare
then take the dare
and split a tire or two
cause he's about to lay her out
and there aint nothin you can do
He's gonna start real slow
gettin her wet and all squirelly
get ready cause shes sure about surely
gonna give dat Bing da Bot Bam Boom
To bang for a measily buck ride or two
And if that aint enough to make you choke
then listen up close ya all hear me now folk
We havent even gotten to the part thats rottten where
little lady slides over where we hit first gear
And we're just coastin to the startin line

Now methinks her grumble and that Hemi's rumble
Might exsplain why they be talkin bout that Ol' Fenders Flap
cause bout this time that youngin girl just made a move
Whilst twilights tinker is eyeballin the stinker
That ol chap is thinkin about taken a lap
He revs his gas knowin that shes a real drinker
Hot Lottery Damn! Shes a hook line and sinker
Dat Boy revved so hard fire came out of dem pipes
As he approaches the startin line

Floating Awareness

Drifting in thought an element of rot
the stench was in the air
Whod it be, the next one caught
whilst villagers danced with flair

Round and round the dancers danced
whilst about the fire they went
We all looked on as if entranced
upon their movements we just starred

The occasional cry out a singers yell
marking the change of the rhythms drum
One by one like a story the dancers would tell
as the nearby witches in all their glory would hum
they began to make the spell

Seducing and Sultry the movements grew stronger
the Spell was spoken into the air
Each of us transfixed whilst blinking no longer
Upon the flames and movement we starred

Hickery stickery Oh Golems Tomb
Awake dear one we summons thee
We give you strength to appear
Awake now you sleeping sprite
Bring upon us no reigning doom
We give you life to set you free
Come now dear one Drink of our Light

From over yonder came a witch walking
and into the culdron casting the herb
Careful not to interrupt our attention as if to not disturb
More herbs now to herself she kept talking
In some other language she spoke the word

Transfixed even more, onto the fire, we all heard Liar!
a man yelled to another near a tent
a fight broke out and the men settled soon
As if nothing had happened their energy spent

Meanwhile the dancers whirling and twirling
As we kept our transfixed gaze
One of the villagers felt sick, began hurling
All our heads felt weird in a maze
The Witches continued their spell

With a thunderous Snap, Pop, and Crackle
the embers in the fire grew ablaze
The Smoke grew higher, higher and higher
Whilst we felt drunk in a daze

Dillard: "Mom!! Amber wont leave me alone! I'm trying to write a poem here."
Amber: "Dillard come on! get out of the bathroom I need to brush my hair!
Why do you always write poems in the bathroom, anyway? you freak!"
Mom: Dillard, give your sister the bathroom. I've talked to you about this before."
Dillard with his notebook and pen stampered out of the bathroom and went off to his room.
Amber: Finally, you dork!
Dillard yelling: Yeah, well one day I might write about you! What will you say then?!

THE STRENGTH OF A MAN

The strength of a man is not seen in the width of his shoulders, it is seen in the width of arms that surround him.
A man's strength is not in the deep tone of his voice. It is in the delicate words you whisper.
A man's strength is not measured by how many friends he has. It is measured in how good a friend you are with your children.
A man's strength is not how he is respected at work. It is in how it is respected at home.
A man's strength is not in the hair on his chest. It is in the heart within your chest.
A man's strength is not in how many women he has loved. It is whether he can truly love a woman.
A man's strength is not in how hard he hits. It's how lovingly he touches.
A man's strength is not in the weight he can lift. It is in the burden that you can understand and overcome.

Hearts Throb

Hearts Throb.
Pensive thoughts,vacant dreams
No memories
Blown away like fallen leaves
to lie dead and forgotten
Selfishness,ego of another
Strikes at the penury of the heart
Depriving her freedom
Keeping her tethered to vows
While she wilts day by day.
