As You Were

Waiting for the dawn
We know is coming
So far from our home
But we gotta keep running

Yesterdays are mere dreams
Kept safe in our hearts
To make us have hope
As our world falls apart

Tell me where we are going
And where are we now?
God, when will this be over?
Will we make it somehow?

Joke

A nurse is giving a young medical intern a tour of the hospital.
The intern approaches one bedridden patient and asks,
“Why are you here?”
The patient replies, “Wee sleket cowerin’ timrous beastie/O, what a panic is in thy breastie.”
The intern moves on to the next bed and asks the same question,
“Why are you here?”
The patient answers, “O, my luv is like a red, red, rose that’s newly sprung in June.”
The intern moves on to a third bed and asks again,
“Why are you here” to which the third patient replies,
“The best laid plans of mice and men, may often gang awry.”
At this the intern turns to the nurse and asks,
“What ward is this anyway.”
And the nurse answers, “It’s the Burns Unit.”

Life

life can be bitter
life can be sweet
life is what u make it
every single week.

undoubtedly life has changed with covid-19
i think u know what i mean
once we were free to do as we please
now we are confined bcuzz of this disease.

i do believe we will overcome this obstacle
and rise again to a pinnacle
it is a constant battle
but it is one we have to tackle head on.

Parade

I went to Belmont, Wisconsin
I asked at the gas station if there was a parade
I was told yes there was
I went to my usual spot in front of the post office
I read my books, one on stories from Vietnam Vets called Nam by Dave Baker
Another book was ghost story from my childhood about a miser
Called Walking Otto who befriended a ten year old girl
I ate my beef sticks from Haubers in Dickeyville
Ate my string cheese from Piggly Wiggly
Played Tetris on my Nintendo DS
Listened to Key and Peele and the George Floyd Funeral on my recorder
I finally left at ten minutes to ten o'clock
There was no parade, but there was a fair with cows, pigs, goats, rabbits
And chickens, no rides, no food
At least I tried to go to a parade

About this poem:
This coronovirus is messing things up. There were no masks being worn at the gas station, since Lafayette County doesn't require them, but I didn't know that since Grant and Dubuque counties require them.

Potential

We all have it.

<Evolution>

is preserved within the constant state of change. Growth can (at times) be like building without the appropriate tools, but the more we learn the more we may realise that we are not alone and the tools that can formulate a progressive state of being can be passed on by those who care.

A journey shared is a journey not lost.

This is not scripture so don't be giving out!

For the Rising

For the rising
a crucifix hung
on thin wire
from dirt walls
virgin raw
they waited
pilgrim poor

For the rising
beggar bent
they soaked
the seeded earth
by the words
that would not suffer

this boo though

Hearing that
Knock on the door
A sudden rush of blood flows through me as I know it's the 1ne I've been waiting for
Please come in
Wide is ma grin
And baby tell me how you're doing?
I'm fine baby
Been a trying day
But I'm here now and I'm gonna have my way
Ooowweeee ooooo
Ma boo
Baby please slow down
We got all night to mess around n play the clown
Sitting side by side
Holding hands
Candlelight on the table
Hypnotised by each others eyes
Is this really real or fable?
Baby I want you
And I know you want me too
We both know what we wanna do
But first let's stroke the mind
Let's take it to places without races in open spaces
Come let's face this
Fear ego n hostility
Combat with Love, compassion n humility
Serene serenity
Words that empower as they shower
Any moment now I'm gonna devour
You bit by bit
From the hands caress
To the warm breath on my face as I kiss your neck
Hold on
Mic check
Something seems to be rising
And that's not suprising
With this energy more than appetising
I pull you close
Skin to skin hotter than toast
With this passion n pleasure like hot weather we beginning to roast
Sweat dripping as we slide n slipping
Slip in
Eye contact throughout
This pinpoint of a climax circling lika roundabout
Will it stop?
Will I pop?
Giving til ma last drop
Ma baby slow down
Save some energy for round
Two
Love yes I Love making Love to you

Friends

‘Friends’

Kirk: “we can count in the dark Spock but did logic form in the dark?”

Spock: “a fascinating question captain”

Kirk: “one you can answer?”

Spock: “perhaps”

Kirk: “It has been a great journey Spock I’m surprised were all still friends”

Spock: “it is not just what we have captain but also what we lack that makes us friends”.

Kirk: “how do we measure such a thing Spock?”

Spock: “each according to their own gifts Captain”.

Kirk: “acceptance”.

Spock: “precisely”.

Kirk: “your logic is your gift Spock”.

Spock: “of friends there are none better”.

Kirk: “none but one”.

Spock: “indeed”.

Kirk: "to the journey shared my friend"

Spock: "a gift in the moment"

Star Trek: The Impatient Meditation

(Spock and Bones are sitting in Spock’s quarters as Spock tries to teach Bones how to meditate by focusing the mind through the concentration on the flame of a candle).

Bones: “Ok Spock lets mediate”

Spock: “It’s meditate doctor”

Bones: “I don’t care lets just get started”

Spock: “I suggest a more relaxed approach to allow yourself to fully engage in the process”

Bones: “I am relaxed”

Spock: “I’m merely suggesting a more holistic approach”

Bones: “I’m holistic!”

Spock: “I said holistic and not ballistic doctor”

Bones: ‘a joke Spock?”

Spock: “a comparison”

Bones: “damn it man I have better things to be doing than sitting on my hooch staring into a candle!"

Spock: “It is a flame doctor”

Bones: “Its insane!”

Spock: “The flame represents a controlled subatomic influence. It can settle a mind and achieve a state of equilibrium”

(Bones blows out the candle)

Bones: “how’s that?”

Spock: “shall I light it again?”

Bones: “not unless you want to be set on fire!”

Spock: “I fail to see reference how that would that help the situation?”

Bones: “It wouldn’t Spock but it would be damn funny!”

Spock: “perhaps another time?”

Bones: “not in this life!”

(Bones gets up but trips on a bag falling to the floor)

Bones: “damn it Spock what’s a bag doing on the middle of the damn floor its illogical!”

Spock: “spares doctor”

Bones: “of what man?”

Spock: “candles”

Bones: “you arse!”

Spock: “indeed!”
