her question (my answer)

she looks at me, mid pub, and asks
in a way, rhetorical
as if she knows something
I don't and will never

"why do you live on a boat?"

for the sounds of raindrops
above my sleeping head
for my conversation with dawn
always the same woman
uniquely dressed

for ebb for flow for light
light such as it is
it informs, comforts, and listens
for breeze, whipped

for a wild mirror
pitched at an angle
past me
to show truth

for the lone swan
whose visits mean more
to me than it

for the years that should have taken
yet didn't.

for the woman I'll know I'll meet
who speaks in the dialect
of unaware kindness
dresses in the clothes of realism
and sings in the key of smiling

for ropes for knots
bowline
single sheet bends
carrick bends
reef
anchor hitch

arteries around
this chamber of peace

What You do to Me

When I think of love, I think of you
When the skies are grey, you turn them blue
When fear grips darker, you bring the light
When hope feels empty, you fill the night
When coldness feels me, you hold me near
When sorrow clouds me, your love is clear.

My ghost

There's someone out there He's my ghost.

My being knows him, He was my whole life in my past life.

This life is getting shorter and I sometimes feel like I will miss Him.

But my beautiful Ghost I am here and if we need to wait another lifetime to feel what we have, I am good with that.

Until then let's make memories and live.

About this poem:
They say that we have a soul mate, I think I might have met mine but maybe not, or he's not ready.
Never stop looking and hold tight when you find them.

crazy times

Silent but glossy drops of rain that fall
into the psyche of my mind
Transform into the forbidden depths, bringing splashes of clarity
Revelling in the wake of a sudden variation of questions that are
Raised with brows that seem incredulous at the simple answer
That is given, a simple balance or fluctuance that rides between
The two sought after answers of the battle I'm riding through....

Pieces of a chess board scatters my energies, having to recenter myself daily to work out what I want, to compromise what everyone wants from me, as a angel on my shoulder, and an devil on the other shoulder persuading me into a temptation that should never happen yet it does, always the incessant wish for change and yet it doesn't happen....

I'm the catalyst to the change...

...introspection spikes as i put my words into motion, sadness renders from all directions as the battle is won but the war isn't over yet, still gotta live through tomorrow where it begins all over again, frustrations rise higher than anticipated, people want more from me for what I'm prepared to give, my mind just can't take it anymore...

Is option out of life the easy way out? No, its not. Nor is giving up. Only one way to go which is onwards and upwards, forwards with might, for that way, only things in my life will change. And maybe, just maybe, some joy will come of it...

Oh Valentine !

This crazy world spinning around
All the time circling the sun
Then like a rainbow there you are
Your face shining like a constellation of stars
Sharing your face with mine
Strangers living in even stranger times
Each with our own burning desires
Fueling our hopes and dreams
Falls like the rain something called magic
Desert dust sprinkled by rain dancers
On top of all the little clouds pirouetting
Filling our minds and hearts overflowing
With an irresistible desire for each other
With undying devotion till our parting ways
Oh Valentine.!!!

Finding Peace

Find calmness now
Space meeting grace
Open up somehow
In a physical place
Widening horizons
Let you’re spirit grow
Energy uprisen
An arching rainbow
Relaxation grows
No barriers abound
New dawn arose
Peace will be found

Dreams Of You

The faces and the people out of place
The crowded streets just one big blur
The noisy backstreet bar and laughter
Barely drowned out by the falling rain
My empty night spills onto the ground
Pushed by a hunger so greatly felt
How often do I come just to search
Looking onto a sea of uncertainty
The rising and falling of the tide
The fragrant sweet warm smell
Of the darkened magnolia streets
The steam rising steadily from inside me
Like ghosts coming out of gutters
Under the glowing embers of
So many street lights growing
Strings of little flickering pearls
Leading me past….. my past
And towards a future without one
Only what I keep hidden away
Forever these dreams of you

Sorrow at my door

Slowy moving though my minds demise.
Hearing mumblings as others reminisce.
Some smile and laugh an ode to you and your amazing life.
Lyrics, jokes and thoughts, all manner of sadness disguised.

With wine in hand, I smile a story from youth I recall.
A breeze can be seen as the plants you planted bend and petals and leaves fall.
Your garden is full of life and colour and its movements enchant my sight.
I first set eyes on the sorrow that now haunts me.

There you sit unruffled and yet you set my mind to muddle.
One Magpie with eyes like magnificent black pearls.
Your sit alone and stare.
I look to the sky’s above to see your friends to complete the rhyme.
But it seems sorrow is my faith at this time.

The sands of time flow your presence, your stare.
A constant that fuels my despair.
I look to sky’s, I try, I look to my soul.
The pain I feel I lie.

I look to the skies to find your friends.
But is just me and you locked in a sorrowful stare.
I look to the darkened ground of the garden, and this is where your friend is found.
Amongst the fallen debris.
Of leaves, petals, branches, and shards.
Is a decaying Magpie, now a maggot ridden tomb.

I reflect and ponder; Did I deliver sorrow to you?

About this poem:
Every day Since my stepdad passed away, I have seen one magpie in the same spot it was haunting. I recently had a look and I found that the second one had died. It is amazing how you can be so wrapped up in what you think is happening to you and miss what is happening to others.

Late Summer Sorrows

The chirping goes on and on
As gentle rain showers fall
Hunters in the moonlight prowl
Everything grows silent now
Then slowly one by one they go
As soon as danger has past
Till once again across the meadow
That chorus of crickets grow
Moaning that late summer sorrow
Unseen into darkness bellows
When our eyes rest our ears follow
September's gathering clans
Till a mind rests as one of them
Growing sleepy in the hollows
Till first frost spoil all their plans
When growing winds will whistle
Across the tops of drying thistles
Till that first soft blanket of snow
