Lou, I had also seen the video of the super-smart lavatories with scented mists and music, I just wasn't sure if they were also available for those travelling on a budget.
Sadly it seems the Japan that fascinated me is probably 30 years out of date and gone forever, I would still love to go but don't think I would find it exotic or fascinating. Not even sure one can still beg bed and board in a temple. We're all in the modern world now, and it is pretty interchangeable.
SA vs Australia, YES!! Go bokke I shall wear my Springbok shirt - makes me feel part of the fun.
I chatted last night on Skype for about half an hour with a local guy, but unfortunately 10 years older than me and for me there was no sizzle. (DC would probably love him if she wasn't already getting into some exciting waters herself by the look of things!) He sent a message today saying I remind him of Joanna Lumley and he's sick of the rain and wants to take me away somewhere warm for a week, where would I like to go? Now THAT is style
I just started a new job so couldn't even be tempted. And today the sun is shining anyway
Night all. I have work tomorrow and have to be up at sparrow's. Then a long weekend (Scottish public holiday on Monday) and then off on a few days holiday ... not to Japan, but very much looking forward to getting away.
Never let your past dictate who you are, but let it be a part of who you will become.Things don't go wrong and break your heart so you can become bitter and give up,they happen to break you down and build you up so you can be all that you were intended to be.I am Kennedy and am new here,I like your profile and I would like to be your friend and know more about you if you don't mind..You are such a beautiful lady..
Like I said, I have no intention of writing back. He's already blocked. But I appreciate a little effort being put into the approach
Actually the quality of my messages has definitely improved lately. A very nice married man in his forties wants me to add colour to the black and white of his life ... I passed on that one too.
By the way, got the best message ever today, 34 year-old-guy, no idea how he got through my blocks but it was absolutely brilliant. No I'm not writing back. It was a perfect moment, why would I want to spoil that?
It's a pocket-sized book which concentrates on niceties like which way you should leave your shoes facing when you leave them at the door!
(toes outward)(in case you wanted to know)
Get involved, M. le Chat. You Googled haggis, you can Google a mountain with a funny name (oh, and they have awesome love hotels. You should look at those too)
Travelling on the cheap: we should probably go in typhoon season, tickets are cheaper then.
Travelling overnight on a longdistance bus or train will save the cost of a hotel. Buy day passes for exploring.
We could stay in koku-min shukusha (government guest houses) - cheapest option - or min-shuku, which seem to be the equivalent of B&B. In cities, capsule hotels offer the thrill of sleeping in a bed like a capsule coffin. Mmmm. Maybe not.
Many temples, though, offer accommodation, and you might even be able to work off part of the bed and board. Temples, people!
Cheapest food is in the dining halls of libraries and city halls.
While travelling, we could buy ekiben, station lunch boxes, without leaving the train. Bit of a lucky dip, perhaps
This is an oldie, but still fun
so close ...
