When I was newly married there was a promotion to collect a set of dishes. A dish was in a box of soap powder (for washing clothes). There could be a plate, a bowl, a cup or saucer in the box. A picture of the dish would be on the box. Weeks would go by when all you got were plates. I never got a full set of dishes but I did have very clean clothes since I kept buying soap powder boxes hoping to get another dish.
That was back in the day when people used powder to wash clothes.
Merc, the thing that worries me is that you travel by bus and trains. If he watches your every move in the gym he is also watching you when you walk out the door.
The best thing you could do is to get over your fear of cars so that you can get your own car so you can stop taking public transportation. You're also walking to your house.
He may not be "all there" but he might still have a drivers license and follow you wherever you go. I'm sorry to be so dramatic but I'm aware of what happens to women who travel alone.
Merc, you're right it's not a police matter but it is a matter of your security. The one thing you definitely need to do is to let the administration of the gym know that he approached you saying he wants to watch you exercise and that he is still invading your space in the pool. The most important thing in situations like this is to get it on record....not just telling someone. Make sure they write it in your file that he is harassing you.
Yes I was hurt. Devastated that he ended it. We were in a conversation and I misread what he meant when he said something. And in a New York minute he said "goodbye and god bless" in email and I never heard from his again.
I suspected for awhile that he was seeing someone else but ignored the red flags because I loved him.
In general he was usually polite and funny so when he ended it that way it was very painful because it reversed all the kind things he had said in the past. It's hard to believe he cared about me at all to end it the way he did.
It's okay that you complain Mikey. I remember the mods writing a thread a long time ago saying that if we complain about the site there will be repercussions (not their word). There is only one thing that I would like to see added to the site but I'm not gonna say it cause I don't want to go to detention.
Yesterday and still today my thoughts definitely controlled me. My son in law was in surgery for 12 hours. I tried to do things that would make me think of something else but the pit of my stomach reminded me that there was a crisis in the family and my thoughts were overwhelming.
I remember the Texaco man in brown uniform coming to my car asking if I wanted him to check the oil. He filled the gas tank and washed the windows without me asking. And something that I have a problem with now is putting air in my tires. Back in the day when service people would be glad to help especially if you were a woman and they were polite.
Now I can't squat because of two knee replacements and bending over is difficult so it's very hard to find someone to put air in my tires. I think I've seen air pumps that I could step on to put air in the tires but I don't know if it would be a waste of money.
Thanks to Merc telling me who the author is I can now rant
I decided that I want to add Discovery+ to my tv channels. I looked for the symbol in the app lineup on my tv and couldn't find it so I called my cable company to help me sign up.
I was told that I have an old tv......not a smart tv.....and I can't add the channel.
I am fit to be tied about this
Several cable channels are adding a streaming version and from what I've been told I can't get any streaming channels
Attorney F. Lee Bailey, one of the attorneys in the trial of the century, died a couple days ago. He was the mastermind of how the attorneys handled the defense of O.J. Simpson. Apparently he wrote a book named "The Truth About The O.J. Simpson Trial". I'm thinking about buying the book just to see if there is something the public never knew about the trial.
Do you think there will be a shock value secret revealed in the book?
"The Definitive Account of the O.J. Simpson Trial, by Legendary Defense Attorney F. Lee Bailey It was called “The Trial of the Century.” Beloved football sensation, O.J. Simpson was famous for his prowess on the field, his good looks, and his charm. But all that changed the night his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman were brutally slaughtered in her front yard late at night on June 12, 1994. The media circus that consumed the news cycle for the next eighteen months would forever change the world's opinion of O.J. Simpson, despite the fact that the jury, after nearly a year of sequestration, came to their decision in just a few hours: Not Guilty.
Although at least a dozen books have been written about the O.J. Simpson trial, from every possible perspective from provocative to sensationalistic, The Truth About the O.J. Simpson Trial is the most revealing because the writer was the Architect of the Defense. Bailey, shows definitively why the jury was correct in finding that the timeline of the evening made Simpson’s presence at the murder scene impossible, which eclipses the question “Did he do it?” and establishes that he simply could not have done it. This book reveals shocking evidence of police corruption, mishandling of blood samples and other materials that formed the basis of the prosecution's case. Bailey includes convincing evidence that was not presented at the trial—including interviews, forensic results, and revelations about the case that have since come to light.
Scathing, controversial, and, yes, entertaining, The Truth About the O.J. Simpson Trial will be read and studied by anyone interested in defending the innocent, the history of law enforcement in America, students of the Law, and all those who are still obsessed with “The Trial of the Century.”
