Thanks for the gift of your worthless opinion ... you can have it back with the reminder that what you claim to see see in me is a reflection of yourself.
Whenever you point a finger - three point back at yourself
PSYCHIATRIC DIAGNOSIS (Labelling) IS SOLELY A MATTER OF THE OPINION
IT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE when a person is in distress they are always in a situation that exceeds their own personal knowledge and coping ability. Psychiatry fosters the belief that the person will need long term even lifetime treatment. It encourages people to 'learn about' their label and live accordingly ... it rarely fosters & never encourages hope or belief in recovery.
There is now also ample evidence (end of post) that increased levels of psychiatric 'care' increases risk and number of actual suicides
Don't forget the political misuses where repressive regimes employ psychiatrists to declare 'enemies of the state' as insane & incarcerate them without trial or hope of release. Keep in mind the recent events of Guantanamo Bay - CIA employed psychiatrists to DESIGN THE WORST FORMS OF PHYSICAL & PSYCHOLOGICAL TORTURE EVER KNOWN
Why do you think I am trying to 'defend' narcissism or any other label - it's very plain that I object to labelling ?
People are NOT consistently the same over their life time & a person might have a period when due to a surplus of situational confidence (as an example) they seem to have less regard for others than it may seem to others. Does that make THEM 'narcissistic' or might it equally suggest some lack of confidence, some degree of 'lack' of self esteem in person passing judgement as OP asked?
A person may be grieving & there's nothing so certain as grief to land a fast label of DEPRESSION. Grief is a person's natural response to a real (or perceived sense of) loss. Loss requires TIME to recover from & love not drugging.
How about persons who tagged with 'autistic spectrum disorder' label or others who have been raised under difficult circumstances that lead them to be more introverted than some & so more concerned with their own interests than certain others think 'appropriate' ... are they also narcissists ?
Who has right to judge & label another person?'
Why are YOU defending a profession that has been so vicious and wicked in it's treatment of women in particular ? Are you unaware that psychiatrists incarcerated women in mental institutions for decades for having borne children outside of marriage or remaining unmarried ?
Kamilah Brock: Woman held in mental health facility because police didn't believe BMW was hers. Taken to Harlem hospital psychiatric ward, she claims medical records obtained by her attorney, show she was forced to take lithium & injected with powerful sedatives. "As the amount of involvement that people have with psychiatric professionals and psychiatric care increases, the likelihood that they will commit suicide rises steadily and dramatically, according to a study in Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology. Taking psychiatric medications makes people nearly 6 times more likely to kill themselves, while having spent time in the previous year in a psychiatric hospital makes them over 44 times more likely to kill themselves"
3 large studies have now found that the more we spend on mental health services the higher our suicide rates. In addition, a recent study has completely discredited claims that 90% of those who die from suicide are mentally ill at the time of their death.
Te Rauparaha composed "Ka Mate" circa 1820 as a celebration of life over death after his lucky escape from pursuing Ngati Maniapoto and Waikato enemies. He had hidden from them in a food-storage pit, and climbed back into the light to be met by a chief friendly to him – Te Whareangi (the "hairy man").
The haka as composed by Te Rauparaha begins with a chant:
Kikiki kakaka kauana! Kei waniwania taku tara Kei tarawahia, kei te rua i te kerokero! He pounga rahui te uira ka rarapa; Ketekete kau ana to peru kairiri Mau au e koro e – Hi! Ha! Ka wehi au ka matakana, Ko wai te tangata kia rere ure? Tirohanga nga rua rerarera Nga rua kuri kakanui i raro! Aha ha! Then follows the main body of the haka: Ka mate, ka mate! ka ora! ka ora! Ka mate! ka mate! ka ora! ka ora! Tenei te tangata puhuruhuru Nana nei i tiki mai whakawhiti te ra A, upane! ka upane! A, upane, ka upane, whiti te ra!
'Tis death! 'tis death! (or: I may die) ’Tis life! ‘tis life! (or: I may live) ’Tis death! ‘tis death! ’Tis life! ‘tis life! This is the hairy man Who brought the sun and caused it to shine A step upward, another step upward! A step upward, another... the Sun shines!
And you wusses feel intimated because it includes a finger drawn across the throat and think it means they're gonna kill you ?
Oh aye ... the Lions usually DO DIE on the pitch when meeting the All Blacks !
If you'd ever read a book ( other than one's that had outline picture and a packet of crayons attached ) you'd know that pretty much ALL that the Ancient Greeks ever knew was filched from the Ancient Egyptians !!!
You might like to reconsider that remark in the light of Jeffrey Archer and any number of other British (and international) parliamentarians and similar con artistes !
I'm curious so I'll ask - what happens to one's arsehole if one were to fly to the other side of the pond ... and at what point on the journey would that occur ?
Define normal and send me the height, weight, BMI, IQ and hair colour of the farter together with your payment of $2500 US and I'll send you the answer inside 14 days!
Psychiatry is a pseudo science - it always has been and always will be.
They make utterly outrageous claims about brain chemistry (for example) but they do not have ANY TESTS WHATSOEVER let alone any formal standardised tests to form baselines as to excesses or shortages of any hormone or other biochemical in the brain.*
ABSOLUTELY ALL that they do have is OPINION and even then it's rare to have a consensus! The general rule in the profession is that it will always be the opinion of the shrink with more years, papers and fame under their belt and / or the bigger income that will prevail !
I'm most grateful for your permission that I may 'stick with my views' and I'll cheerfully bet you a month's salary that you cannot prove me wrong :-)
* In reality there likely cannot ever be any meaningful tests for (say) serotonin or other brain hormones and etc as these substances and many other (similar substances such as neurotransmitters) are created on demand. If for example I put a big nasty dog in your vicinity and you are afraid of big nasty dogs ... then you will pump out a whole lot of 'stressy chemicals' and if were to set you down in some place in nature that you adored then you'll pump out the calm and relaxing chems ! Any such test therefore would be like looking at one frame on a movie reel ... all that it would tell you would be the state of play in that moment ... and even that would be meaningless as the person might be relaxed or wound up about the test ;-)
RE: "Defensive narcissist"
Yes, I asked for it ... whoever claimed the Swiss don't have a sense of humour was probably a shrink !
