RE: I am good in bed

A bit 'off topic; here for a moment ... what's the latest news on The Belgian Egg Scandal ?

Fancy you guys being involved in hatching a plot to kill thousands across Europe like that !!!

What eggsactly happened ...

cheers <<< decent Belgian Beer grin

RE: ”…friens first” = impotent

And an important PS to that

Having referred to mollybaby as a 'star' of the boards is NOT IN ANY WAY derogatory or rude ... it's just a reply to the point!

MB is a popular and frequent poster here and IMO she's interesting, amusing, open minded and great 'value for money' ( and that's NOT to suggest she's for sale - stated directly for the benefit of those who's goal in life is to make dark allegations )

peace

RE: Get it off your chest !

I'm sure that YOU do Daniela - that closing comment was intended for the moronic and humourless individual who took offence at something I said to A.N Other ... so as it's a 'get it off your chest thread' I took advantage and 'got that off my chest'

'LIE on the couch' was a passing reference to psychiatry (not that I think YOU are at all bonkers either) but another topic where I've come across MAHI's of late ... so, yay, way to go ... another one bites the dust!

'Lying down on the COACH' creates some interesting possibilities too - 'coach' can mean a comfortably equipped and generally single-decker bus used for longer journeys. It can also refer to a railway carriage, economy cabin accomodation on an aircraft ... or a person who supports and encourages others in a personal or business interest such as sport ?

So now ... did you want to lie down on the bus, train, plane - or is there a person you are seeking to get on top of and lie on ?

RE: "Defensive narcissist"

You might like to let me have your name and address and / or that of your lawyers Noddy.

In case you are really as stupid & ignorant as you always appear (IMO it would be hard to fake it so consistently) it is a LIBEL when you make in writing an untrue accusation(s) against a person !

You can check this out at CAB now and apologise promptly

FYI I have NOT been 'kicked out' of anywhere ... I was invited to NZ 'on merit' following a successful application.

FYFI greasing up to the other mindless trolls will get you nowhere !

RE: Get it off your chest !

RE: Get it off your chest !

I guess when a person looks as guilty as you look ...

But, have a lie on the coach and tell us about it ?

Right, now that you are LYING on the coach ... you MUST Be Guilty ... why else would you be lying ???

( This a joke involving the different uses of the word lie ie to tell an untruth, and lie as in to assume a recumbent position on a sofa or bed. Apparently this needs be made 'this clear' in order to avoid accusations of bullying those who may have english as a second language )

Next ...

Perhaps you might consider, as a person who has english as their second language, whether you are sufficiently proficient to analyse the language as it's used by native and fluent speakers in 'informal banter' between themselves.

Or, how would YOU feel if I were to challenge you concerning your own use of your native language ?

If Chris is offended then he'll say so ... and if he were to be offended (which I doubt) then he and I would resolve that matter in an amicable and adult way between ourselves.

And, you choose to entirely IGNORE the fact that the post closed with something along the lines of

"Typos can be such fun ..." and a suitable emoji

which was placed there particularly so that even the most highly strung coven members could see the humorous intent and purpose of the post !

Cut n Paste - Plate-Breaking in Perspective

Plate-breaking isn't just a traditional act performed at weddings. In fact, that appears to have been a later form of plate-smashing.

One of the first mentioned events involving this tradition was FUNERALS. People attending death ceremonies would break plates to show their deep, emotional grieving. It helped to express their loss

So now what you've been waiting for - why plates get obliterated at matrimonial ceremonies.

There may be two reasons that this tradition was used at weddings:

Smashing plates symbolized new beginnings. It meant that the couple were throwing away their old life and embarking on a new life together.

Smashing plates could fool the spirits. It was believed that breaking plates would keep the evil spirits at bay because they would believe the people involved were angry and upset, instead of celebrating. Of course, the evil spirits would not wish to interfere with an event that was already making people angry, while they may interfere with a happy celebration.

Do Plates Still Get Broken?

No.

Most Greek weddings no longer involve plate breaking. For one thing, it gets too expensive, and for another, it's just more messy to clean up.

But other cultures have some equally crazy things going on

Like ... not being able to leave the house with wet hair if a relative or their dog can see them? Flip flops ...being not allowed on beaches

Or ... to determine who will be the real leader of the house once the couple began living together. After the actual wedding, the two would try to step on each other’s feet. If the groom succeeded to do so before the bride, he would be the head of the house. On the other hand, if the bride managed to step on the groom’s foot, she would call the shots in marriage. In another version, the newly wedded pair would race to the church doors. The winner would run the house.

And ... It turns out that breaking plates is a popular pastime activity in many places including Poland and Greece.

Generations of Europeans are convinced that breaking grandpa’s chamber pot will bring you great fortune and good luck.

But what makes the German tradition stand out is the fact that it’s your friends who break pottery in front of your house the night before your wedding, expecting you to clean the whole mess and provide food and drink. And somehow this is equated to having fun.

One explanation might be that, according to Wikipedia, the ones who take part in this event are those people not invited to the wedding. Such as Uncle Lotke, the one who gets drunk every thanksgiving, and not having him at your wedding might be worth the hassle and broken plates.

RE: "Defensive narcissist"

Loupy Lou,

I love you too heart beating

In fact, I'm probably your second greatest fan - after yourself - though I'm delighted that there's a happy gap of many thousands of Kms between first and second places.

You rank high amongst the most intolerant, interfering humourless spitemongers on here, with a pattern of coming into threads SOLELY to attack participants where you have not taken any part in the debate and calling people names without foundation eh.

So what exactly are you basing your accusation on here?

It 'looks like' you're taking issue with banter between myself and Chris the Greek eh?

He's not complaining eh - in fact, if you weren't so keen to find fault and start name calling you'd have noticed that we trade such humour from time to time. He's a big lad, well capable of taking care of himself and I'm confident that if he took offence he'd let me know himself, or send his big sister round to sort me out !

What do you think gives YOU the right to interfere / pass judgement / level such attacks - are you some sort of self authorised Thread Police ?

You realise, that what you see in ME is a reflection of what YOU dislike about YOURSELF - maybe you could just go rant at a mirror and leave me out of it ?

RE: are psychiatry and psychology sciences

I'm curious ... what has one-note done to deserve your ire ?

RE: are psychiatry and psychology sciences

Briefly I agree with your PoV

Psychiatry has no 'proven science' to support it.

It's ONLY the assertions and opinions of those people involved - and they have a vested interest in promoting it as it's their livelihood

There are no available tests to indicate any 'baseline' level of brain chemistry so it's ludicrous to claim a person's chemistry is out of kilter

Brain chemistry alters moment by moment - this has long been known and can be illustrated by 'white coat syndrome' studies in which persons BP in persons, who knew that they were about to have their BP tested, tested higher than their norms ... the 'norm having been established by use of a BP monitor that they wore on their body for a week or so.

'The badges of authority' ... 'AS SEEN ON TV' the person wearing a stethoscope or 'other badge of authority' such as degrees and diplomas on the wall lend credence and authority. Psych experiments involving real and simulated electric shocks have shown that people will and do follow the instructions of a 'doctor' even to the point of inflicting pain on others.

Evidence that increased levels of psychiatric intervention increase the risk and number of suicide attempts and fatal outcomes from attempts

The effects of suggestion ... every smart dentist knows to say 'You'll feel very little as I give the injection' as opposed to 'This may hurt ..'

Iatrogenic illness and injury ... is common across all forms of medicine and IMHO a psychiatrist telling a person they have a mental disease or disorder is injuring that person...

It's a long dark history ...

RE: New CS Formats

Cheers, I do have it and use it ... but if it were 'built in' so to speak it would be universally available to all inc mobile phone and small device users who might not have device capability ?

Or, maybe even small devices have enough computing power to handle it ... it's a question :-)

If you could have been born at any point in history

Maybe you could, maybe not ...

But, suppose you had been able to be born 'previously' what other life might you have chosen ... is there an era that you think would have suited you ?
