Neither grandparent told me it was from Ireland - mind 'in this moment' I suddenly realised how little they ever spoke of Ireland and I probably understand why.

But that would be a quiet chat over a Guinness and in a much less public group !

Hmmmm ....but I thought the Great Potato was more associated with Ireland M

Certainly my grand parents used it widely and served it beautifully ... he'd make Leek and Potato soup and tell us it was 'International Cuisine' and it's still a fav of mine in cold weather !

Yes, using garlic butter alone produces a lighter but fabulous flavour

I tried with onions, that was a bit bland, but the leafy greens from your national emblem ( the leek) work extremely well ... though gotta keep an eye on those as I like them just beyond wilted ... gonna try a hint of leon juice ... that sounds sharp !

Mine, heat butter and smidge of mustard oil, throwin coarsely chopped cabbage with some garlic, ginger and chill

Serve with anything but especially good grilled bacon and fried eggs and hash browns
