I dunno, I've read a bit about 'karma' and I can;t help wonder if Britain is being paid back for all the atrocities it has been part in as it previously rampaged across the world imposing it's will and way on others.
Just take India as an example ... colonised, freed without violence by Ghandi and now TATA own the entire British Steel industry ( such as it is) as well as a number of 'British' premium car brands and etc?
Could that be karma at work on a grand scale?
If it IS then I dread to think what the US may have in it's future ...

If you were to quit the rantin and the hatin and do some thinkin Mike you might consider the actual logistics of the exercise eg the foolishness of sending man and machine into danger, the value of having them nearby and at action stations etc,
You might also recognise the 'social and political' impact ... of a press announcements that led to even greater panic that was created 'OMG, it;s so bad that our own navy can't help us and we have to bring in the british navy ....'

RE: How do you think Donald Trump has done so far as President? Capable of performing adequately on occasion. Normally whatever Trump says is feeding into the personality disorders of his fans, but there are times when he knows that doing this will make him look worse. He will listen to reason when demented makes him look bad, when competency matters for example he knows that looking like a weak useless bellend after a natural disaster is the worst and he will defy the republicans who are a weak useless bellend if it means results.
The good thing about aself-serving opportunist is that he can be a raving sociopath rabbelrousing spastics one minute and the next minute he's an adequate president. And because of all the drama and twists and turns weak-minded people will think "wow! he's amazing" when adequate is juxtaposed with useless bellend. To do whatever a regular president would have seems amazing considering he's set expectations so low to anybody with the will to live.
And because he makes his fans feel significant and less inferior or more superior by rhetorically beating the civilised world into the ground he's not held to account. Having provided this valued service to their narcissism the actual politics is off the table. Adopt this policy, invade that country etc. Anything goes... apart from looking weak.
