My cat died the day before yesterday. I had to help him out of his misery. I cannot explain how he managed to drag his mangled body home. His gut was torn open, his intestines were hanging out, he had a gash in his throat, his ear was almost torn off, and his right hind leg was badly mauled, probably partly crushed.
And while he was laying there dieing, he purred as loud as a diesel engine. This confirmed something I once read about cats. Cats don’t purr because they’re happy; they purr because they want attention.
The worst thing of it all is that this cat was not scared of dogs. He would not even have tried to flee from his attacker until it was too late. That was my fault. Dogs are known to do this; and yet I trained my cat not to be scared of dogs. I shall never make that mistake again.
